  1. It was just a general reply to those talking about Hutton, targeted at no one in particular. Lidster?
  2. Boeser's success is just a foregone conclusions so Hutton is the next big question when it comes to setting up our Stanley Cup dynasty One tangential point about Hutton I would like add: No Norris winners since 2000 came from the NCAA. This is just a function of the small sample size of giving one guy the award each year. Each guy has shown the ability to play solid defense while putting up points. This means putting up close to a PPG in the CHL or 0.5 PPG in a pro league. Hutton is absolutely in this range. But of course there are many busts who satisfy this same criteria. The other commonality is that Norris players tend to have a fairly early impact in the NHL. Very few stick as 18 year olds though. So spending time in the NCAA has not set Hutton back one bit. And when future Norris winners did stick with their NHL teams, they tended to score at a fairly low pace early on. Think 0.25 PPG. By this metric as well (which is obviously much more important than junior success), Hutton looks very good compared to this elite company. The reality is that we just don't know and will have to wait and see how the season goes. But as far as ruling Ben out from Norris potential, there is certainly no basis to do so yet and much more that points to the alternative.
  3. ...he said as his chubby fingers covered in powdered cheese reach for the mountain dew in the mini fridge he keeps next to his computer for those night-long WoW raids.
  4. We haven't even had Weber playing much of the start of this season. We've got more offense on the back end at the NHL level
  5. If only his original opinions were based on something other that pure dog $&!# ignorance
  6. Can we make that CDC's motto?
  7. Yeah, you lost all credibility right there.
  8. Although it was more of a "I'm not going to say I want the hell out of my home country" sort of statement.
  9. What are you doing!? If you call Bartkowski a 4/5 guy, TOML will be up your ass for days!
  10. Then you are blind and nothing else needs to be said. Not worried that he got sent down. Wouldn't be surprised that it's just to clear a roster spot until they can put Higgins on IR.
  11. Possibly the only time you and I agreed on something.
  12. Only if you count stats you can get in advance if you pay the ref enough.
  13. There will always be people screaming for a pick based off little more than the fact they've heard the name before. Benning was beaming (by Benning standards ) by the end of this draft. He knew we snagged way more NHLers than we should have with the picks we had.
  14. Kessel is the only guy in the NHL whose weight gets fudged downwards. In other news, Virtanen hit his goal weight of 212 according to the training camp roster. Someone's been working hard this summer.
  15. Been watching Gaunce intently since his rookie year with the Bulls. Not a chance he just becomes a Dwight King. Gaunce has the maturity, intelligence and drive few have. He's limited by his tools and isn't going to be a guy with unrealized potential who struggles with consistency. He will definitely be worth more than King's 25 points per season.
  16. But I thought Dorsett was a waste of money and that his off ice value was overhyped?!
  17. Here's a thought to help everyone calm down. We could have taken MDC at #5
  18. Child 44 was really good but it is depressing AS FRACK. I've been to Russia a few times, got friends who grew up in the USSR and this truly does capture what it was like. Just an ongoing feeling of helplessness and people burying their heads in the sand for fear that someone with ties to the party will hear them express doubts and rat them out.
  19. Loved Snowpiercer. I'm a big scifi fan though. Another good scifi few seem to know about is Europa Project. Was pretty solid given the budget. Such a fabulous nation...
  20. Virtanen can finish the year in the AHL because once The Hitmen are eliminated from the playoffs, Jake will be free to join the Comets.
  21. For those who didn't see, Team USA cut down its evaluation camp roster yesterday to something closer to the final product. They're at 18 forwards now and teaching a bit more in the way of systems. Brock is still in and is showing as on the "3rd" line centred by Ryan Hitchcock with Matt Tkachuk on RW.
  22. I saw him dish a few sweet passes today. One ended up being an assist, a couple others his linemates just couldn't handle despite getting cherry passes in the slot. Jake played a solid cycle game too, opening up lanes, using his speed to drag defenders out of position then making the smart pass to the point.
  23. Really liked his positioning and ability to support the quick transition out of the zone. Slick pass to Milano and staying onside there showed some impressive hockey IQ. You can tell he isn't challenged by the quickness of the game at this level at all. He just calmly gets in position and lets the game come to him. Reminds me of Gaunce in that way. He could pursue the puck harder, especially when it comes to board battles. Part of that looks like he needs to work on his first few strides so he can more confidently go into the corner then rush back into position. What really confused me was that he kept drifting into perfect spots in the offensive zone and his teammates just would not pass to him. Seemed like a few of the US players had some serious tunnel vision even on the PP
