  1. Well I am sufficiently excited!
  2. Agree to disagree. Subjective taste for play style enters into things but this is the first year I haven't atched them. Wish them all the best nonetheless.
  3. I haven't been watching the Comets this year because they are extremely frustrating to watch. Virtanen really is their only weapon but his speed and physicality are only so useful when he's the only guy with any offensive talent. He can separate players from the puck, create space and then it doesn't matter because the goalies can only play his shot, defenders only play his shot, etc etc. Every time he drives down a wing, outpacing everyone, that's when one Comet player should have the sense to just drive down the middle. Virtanen is always looking for a pass to the slot as he gets near the goal line and every time it's just 4 opposing players staring back at him. They all know the Comets don't have the speed to follow Virt into the zone so they just never play his pass because he never has that option. It's &^@#ing embarrassing. Put him next to some linemates with NHL talent, let them gel and he'll be making space for days, creating production for our more talented players.
  4. You gotta think the kids know they're going to get a chance here when Boeser is talking Stecher into signing and now Gaudette is doing the same.
  5. Wow he is taller than I thought. All this talk about how small he is and he's already as tall and ten pounds heavier than Patrick Kane. Perfectly fine for a skill guy.
  6. That would be AMAZING if he hits that level. However his game is a bit different. Same shot and hands but Kuz doesn't have the same speed or agility Goldobin is showing. Doesn't need it because he has more size but I am genuinely curious to see if Goldobin's skillset translates better (ala Gaudreau) or worse. I truly don't know.
  7. It's a thing now! I am making it a thing!
  8. My most exceptional apologies your highness. He's a 20 year old, the age of an overager, just due to a super early birthday. Truly my point has been completely trounced by your logic and snobbery.
  9. Balls. Appreciate the breakdown.
  10. Boeser is a sophomore who was injured for a sustained period on a team that is not great. The former should weight him much higher, the latter 2 items would push him lower based on an internal judgement call. Tyson Jost is barely a ppg as well with no injury and a year behind which should give significant comfort on Boeser. This is as simple as why Dane Fox was not regarded as a better player than Brendan Gaunce while scoring high with Erie. Chabot is a large overager in the defensively-impotent Q. That league consistently makes middling guys look like superstars. Gaudette is a great prospect and I really like him. But JB and Linden have it right, he needs to get more physically mature. He absolutely will get there as he's already 6'1" 185 lbs but he plays a very gritty game and will be very hard pressed to be able to have that same style at the NHL level. Brock has the advanced stick handling, speed and agility shared by a number of more diminutive but highly skilled guys who have translated their success to the NHL. Gaudreau being the current poster boy for that sort of play.
  11. I'm under the impression that he can be waived. If he clears, fine and he's not exposed. If not we've got $6M of cap to play with in free agency. Is that not the case?
  12. That list is garbage and not just because Brock Boeser should be MUCH higher. Alex Nylander with 6 goals in #2 and Chabot scoring 1.5 P/G in the Q is worthy of #3? Just arbitrary garbage that Button mailed in.
  13. Tkachuk skates like he's in pudding which might also be what's between his ears. He'll be getting walked at the line by Juolevi for a long time to come. Back to Brisebois, he really is showing how far he's come in a year. Lots of confidence, consistently makes intelligent plays but also is demonstrating real skill. It's also great to see a d-man who is so good offensively that he can play on either half wall (!) during the powerplay. Know who else did that? Ben Hutton.
  14. Yeah dude, that's the point. Tkachuk played on an amazing team, Virtanen did not.
  15. Bertuzzi's junior numbers were also from another era in junior hockey.
  16. Great point when stacking up points totals in 2 different eras. Bo really is a beaut
  17. And the idiots that write that seem to have no problem getting employed by teams. Doubly amazing. He's already surpassed Kesler's trajectory. He reminds me of a slightly lesser Trevor Linden. No slight to Bo as Trevor was second only to Mike freaking Modano.
  18. Yup! Also earns you mad nerd cred
  19. Thesaurus is a latinization of the Greek word Thesauros ergo it does not pluralize by replacing the "us" with an "i". Same mistake people make with the plural of octupus which is just boring old octopuses.
  20. Exactly how is a guy supposed to put up decent numbers when he plays an average of 8 minutes a night?
  21. Actually Boeser skates pretty fast. I would say on par with Horvat. He's also quite strong but happens to use it for offense, outmuscling opponents on the boards, liftings sticks, etc. He can also throw decent hits but he doesn't need to since the puck is often on his stick or will be shortly. Much more depth to his game than Vanek.
  22. Look at Henrik Sedin's first 3 years vs Horvat and you'll see just how good Bo is.
  23. You're missing the premise. There are only so many roster spaces in the NHL. The number of succesful players does not change because your drafting gets better. All better drafting does in ensure you don't pass over a good player in the draft. If good players are sliding further in the draft, then drafting is getting worse. The description of "perfect" drafting is about establishing the above directionality.
  24. Surely if scouting is improving, more early picks would make it. Perfect scouting would mean a perfect gradient of success from 1st OA to the last pick of the 7th round.
  25. Coach has players succeed and you say they did so despite him. Coach has players fail and you say it's because of him. It's clear here that the question you ask yourself is not "Did Willie help or hurt the development of players?" but rather "Willie hurt player development and what examples can I draw upon to justify it?" Arguing with someone who has already made up their mind is like trying to headbutt your way through a brick wall. I've got better $&!# to do with my time.
