Don’t put yourself down so much. You are a “somebody” to someone I am sure. I do tend to martyr myself to enlighten the ignorant. It is my calling I guess. I can bang my head against brick walls with the best of them.

7 seasons... spending to the cap... and worse in the standings than we started. Yep... that is clearly the fault of someone who hasn’t been in the league since before this song was a hit... Brilliant. Also, you still don’t know what the term “cherry pick” means so I guess you are just going to gloss over the part where you were just caught lying about my posts and are just moving on to changing goalposts and a new argument?

... if that is how they go, Seattle can take one of their good cheap young players and then watch them squirm about how to shed around $12 million in salary they are above the cap. That way Seattle can take a good young cheap player and then rip at least a 1st round pick from them to give them a little cap relief.

PREDICT THE SCORE CONTEST: VAN @ WPG March 1 2021

7-2 Canucks. Hoglander Over Don’t shoot me, I can live in hope for a couple days before my dreams are dashed! -
What the heck? Jesus Murphy this is like shooting fish in a barrel. Going into a battle of wits when you are unarmed is a terrible strategy on your part! Hahahahahaha.... I literally talked about every top 10 he has picked that has played in the league in that post... Virtanen, Juolevi, Petterson, and Hughes. I also already wrote about his relative lack of success in the later parts of the draft. I gave the entire picture and gave Benning credit for the Petterson pick as a huge win for him. That is the exact opposite of cherry picking. You even quoted my post which shows me writing about his other picks WHILE accusing me of not doing that and “cherry picking” just a couple of them... It was responding to your earlier post that success with later picks is just luck and can’t be how you measure a GM’s drafting... so I detailed ALL of his top 10 Picks... excluding Podkolzin because he hasn’t played a single game to make any judgement one way or another. I didn’t cherry pick anything. You literally cherry picked a tiny portion of my post to focus on and ignored the rest. You either don’t know what the term means or are a liar. You choose ... If I was “cherry picking” I wouldn’t have included the players that didn’t make the point you accuse me of making. Which I also didn’t even make... If I just cherry picked Virtanen and Juolevi, I would be arguing that Benning is a terrible GM at drafting and not “above average” as I literally said. cher·ry-pick /ˈCHerēˌpik/ verb choose and take only (the most beneficial or profitable items, opportunities, etc.) from what is available.

And comes from good stock... his Dad was a monster in the league. Having a Dad who knows how to become an NHLer seems to help most guys figure it out. Maybe this did the reverse, hard to escape the shadow. -
The craziest thing is even the Ottawa stealing points has backfired since they are in danger of catching us right now. Well danger if we are still worrying about playoffs... opportunity if we are looking to draft position.

Different models. The MoneyPuck one gave 2-3 times the chance of all the rest. When you dig into their methodology, they ignore the first 20 games of the season for their model and they use the years from 2008-2015 for their predictive table or who will win a given game. That explains why they rate the Canucks much higher... we aren’t the team we were then and the first 20 games of this season should certainly be a good indicator of our chances in other games this season

[Proposals] With an eye to the future
Provost replied to Provost's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I would doubt that many will be left in the organization unless the team can somehow turn this season around to look at least respectable. It will be up to the new GM. -
I guess life is easier once I have accepted this forum isn’t really intended for hockey discussions and it is really about making trite unrelated comments and sniping at anyone with the temerity to do so. Much more entertaining than posting facts and opinions on Canucks issues! Who knew I was doing it wrong all these years! (Narrator: Everyone, in fact, aside from Provost knew this fundamental truth about the CDC all along)
-
It is so hard to figure out this year. There aren’t easy to determine tiers or a stand out consensus #1. I really hope the NHLPA agrees to push back the draft by a year. Scouting 19 year olds could give us an advantage

I understand and am OK. I happily ignore his drivel 90% of the time. I don’t mind stooping to his level every once in a while and engaging with his nonsense as an alternative to playing Candy Crush while on the toilet or something. I mean if he is going to spend so much effort daily derailing hockey discussion threads without adding any substance, and that is ok by the forum rules... I can occasionally do it too. The fact it is entirely predictable and standard operating procedure for him to fill pages and pages with drivel right after he is shown to be starkly wrong about an actual hockey issue should be obvious to everyone at this point. (Taking it back to the hockey issue in my thread, we are still almost out of the playoffs by the way, regardless of how sad and frustrated he is about being wrong about that. He just hopes folks will forget that by the rest of his nonsense).

Truth is a perfect defence so slander/libel or "dissing" in your vernacular. What I was saying was true about him repeatedly promising some weird deal when he could actually just stop... and then not living up to his weird deal. It was shown to be true again. Truth is an absolute defense to libel claims, because one of the elements that must be proven in a defamation suit is falsity of the statement. If a statement is true, it cannot be false, and therefore, there is no prima facie case of defamation.

Nope. Lie. He made an offer. I said I would accept it, but also said that he wouldn't as per repeated history of him doing exactly that. I put him on ignore. He kept posting, and I walked away seeing if he would become less triggered and upset. I get messaged a couple of days later that he STILL, as expected, wasn't holding up his agreed upon "deal" about putting me on ignore and not continuing to post negative stuff about my posts... yet again he lied. Objective reality and his actions showed him to be a liar. You are also lying. I posted the link of posts showing that he was lying and now you are lying even though the reality is right there for you You sir, are Liar McLiarton...Mayor of Liarville. lie \ ˈlī \ lied; lying\ ˈlī-iŋ \ intransitive verb 1: to make an untrue statement with intent to deceive 2: to create a false or misleading impression

No way!!! Can I get my own threads back without him creepily driving past and derailing them with his WADR as part of the divorce proceedings? I would be pretty happy with that, if a Mod could arrange for that... I would be eternally grateful.

Do you have some advice... ignoring him doesn't seem to work, agreeing with him doesn't seem to work, avoiding him doesn't seem to work. Is there some sort of spray or that works on forum trolls that you could provide? I mean I get that there are diseases like Herpes that you can't treat... so I guess I just have to accept he is the CDC version of that and live with the unpleasantness of having contracted a bad case of "OldNews"

Wooo another rough game by OIdNews... been a rough patch for him lately, worse record recently than the Canucks and that is hard to do! lie \ ˈlī \ lied; lying\ ˈlī-iŋ \ intransitive verb 1: to make an untrue statement with intent to deceive 2: to create a false or misleading impression

I like the new "Rough Game" emoji. It works perfectly as a response to someone's bad post. That feeling of sadness watching them skate off the ice with their heads down after a terrible effort and result. It fits pretty perfectly with many of the posts here recently.

Again... by exactly quoting and referencing my post and cherry picking parts of it to mislead and create a lie by creating a false narrative and inventing an entirely new strawman argument by taking a tangent on something I never said. Nice try at being disingenuous there... there are other words that will come to mind to describe that... lie verb \ ˈlī \ Definition of lie intransitive verb to create a false or misleading impression

Get used to it... that is the main trick. Ignore most of a post because it is objectively true... but take one some meaningless detail of it to weave some false narrative. A lie is defined as trying to create a false or misleading impression, and these are just straight up lies. Yes Tampa Bay has an excellent drafting record... much better than ours. It went farther back than before our GM was hired, and kept going in the years since Benning has been on the job here. That was the post he was lying about (see above dictionary definition), even he isn't so blind to objective reality to not be able to acknowledge that truth... he just wants to spin and mislead by creating strawmen arguments to hide his bad subjective opinions. Pick any metric, find objective facts to back them up, and figure out a grade for Benning's drafting. It all leads to him being at best an above average (B level) drafter, and not at all near the top of the class in that aspect... which is his best attribute as a GM. He is spotty on high end draft picks (I did an exhaustive post about the various public draft lists available at the time of his drafts and he was better than more than half, but worse than some others... no one reasonable could argue that Virtanen and Juolevi would be drafted as high now... even if they do turn out to be regular NHLers. Petterson was a clear huge win by Benning to offset those bad picks). He hasn't found any significant contributors later in the draft... Gaudette being the high point so far? That is like when Benning was holding up Brisebois as the example of how well the organization is doing in player development... really that is the highlight example? Other teams have done better, other teams have done worse. I also posted a well researched article about how often 2nd and 3rd round players "hit" on average... we aren't there yet. No one saying that Benning deserves an "A" in his drafting has come up with any objective facts to back up their subjective assertions.

Wait.... you mean the thread I made giving an evidence-based opinion that "the playoffs were almost out of reach", and that I was also objectively right about? How is that hyperbole exactly? At the time we had about a 5% chance to make the playoffs, which is literally "the playoffs are almost out of reach" territory. Several days later everyone else has reached the same math (and we are less than 3% chance of making the playoffs). People were literally asking me to make the thread title more stark and less soft pedalling about our remote chances. Do you know what words mean? It wasn't an exaggerated statement and it was clearly meant to be taken literally. You can't just invent different meanings for words... there are dictionaries to help you. hy·per·bo·le /hīˈpərbəlē/ noun exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally. This thread... also not hyperbole. We are looking at an almost certain lottery pick, so discussing those options is not exaggerated, and it is absolutely meant to be taken literally. Your post about making up a relocation thread... now that is actually what the definition of hyperbole is. Assuming that is, I am right by being incredibly generous by giving you the credit that you didn't mean it literally? If you meant it to be taken literally and thought we should start a relocation thread or were literally trying to suggest that I was going to make a relocation thread (I can't actually be sure of your intent), that is just dumb. The other things about making threads after every loss to fire people or send Green to Siberia are simply lies. dumb adjective dumber; dumbest Definition of dumb 1a: lacking intelligence : STUPID pretended to be dumb b: showing a lack of intelligence asking dumb questions; a dumb look on his face lie verb lied; lying\ ˈlī-iŋ \ intransitive verb 1: to make an untrue statement with intent to deceive 2: to create a false or misleading impression

Weren't you shutting up and putting me on ignore and not posting negative responses to my posts? Lied about your "deal" yet again I see. I guess more fool me for letting other folks convince me you had changed your stripes. The first post of yours I uncover from being hidden/ignored and it is more nonsense. Maybe bow out of a thread gracefully when literally every other post you put in it has been shown to be absolutely wrong? You as always take some detail to try to create a false argument as you have no actual substance to work with. Brayden Point taken in 2014 after Benning had 4 picks in the same draft. Find a Benning comparable... I will wait. How about Cirelli..picked 72nd overall in 2015, where is our comparable... I will wait. How about even Matthew Joseph from theer 4th round (120th overall) in 2015? He is a just a tiny, minor victory in their terms for a late pick who is playing regular games and is out producing our big victory Gaudette by a long shot... even if you combine both Gaudette and our 1st rounder Virtanen. They have a couple other players from recent drafts playing regular minutes for them already. Only you could try to create some false narrative that Tampa's great consistent drafting can be discounted as an argument by trying to cherry pick out something and weave and entirely false narrative. Being shown to be wrong and a liar (again) within a few days. You can stop with your weird stalking crush on me anytime there sparky. (Narrator: Sparky could not, in fact, stop with his weird stalking crush on Provost) @Gurn @grandmaster @ibatch Next time keep this in mind when his fake offer comes up again.... he could stop anytime, but won't.
