We need to make a trade pretty soon to address our defense
Provost replied to Odd.'s topic in Canucks Talk
We needed it a long time ago. Part of the impetus for folks wanting to trade Miller was to fill that void on D. There isn’t any cavalry coming to save the team at this point. The guys we have need to sort it out and the coaching staff need to design a system that works with the horses we have. There is no cap space and there are no assets to acquire the two top 4 RHD we need. -
One can only hope this is like theatre where the superstition is “the worse the dress rehearsal, the better the opening night.” I really hope that little winning streak after Boudreau ends up setting the franchise development back by years. Last deadline was the time to move out players for a good return and shed salary cap. Hard to do that when the team is winning. Going into an offseason with a bunch of assets and cap space from moving Miller, Pearson, Dickenson, and Myers would have opened the ability to reshape the roster. Our defence looks just terrible so far. If Demko just plays average this could be a lottery team. It is hard to stay positive as a Canucks fan as we have seen this movie play out too many times. It is just a few pre season games but the team really needs to show some flashes of its potential really soon.

You might want to read the thread and all the folks who are laughing at your ridiculous chicken little sky is falling posts that combine how terrible the team and world is with how unfairly Benning was treated.

I don’t know that you understand that people react differently and al situations are different. If you think there is one way to act and everything else is negligence or showing it is money grubbing… then you just frankly have no idea what you are talking about. It goes against thousands of experts and hundreds studies on these sorts of abusive relationships and blames the victim. The courts have been past this sort of nonsense thinking for decades. “It didn’t happen because the victim didn’t act in a way we think is right afterwards.”

M There are many! I just put a couple. Even in Rings there are a couple more main characters who are Welsh. -

All hail to Welsh actors… you can’t have a good fantasy without us! -
You are genuinely ridiculous… You are here posting dozens of times in this thread wailing and gnashing your teeth about how this firing means the team is a mess and the brass are terrible. … and it is the people saying “Meh, non story about low level employee, who cares” who are addicted to negativity? The scorn heaped on you from all these folks is well earned by this sort of nonsense you regularly spout.

Stop whinging about how much your gaming computers cost. Here, I went to the Apple site and kitted out a high end MacPro (without any specialized engineering software). $75k. A mid range one is $48k… more than most students will have, but ones that aren’t billionaires will have equivalent computers, especially in different science, editing, or engineering programs. It isn’t about the cost of a PC, that is just a red herring a lawyer used to throw shade on someone because it looks expensive to the average person. The dude has watches that cost more than that… it is a different scale. I

Exactly… no one here could name most of the people at her low level in the organization without the help of google. Heck, I don’t even know if anyone else has been fired since the start of the summer… probably several.

Dec 2021 - Dazzle "You can't blame Benning for not getting the team to the playoffs, it is all the fault of Gillis... Benning hasn't had time to fix it, 8 years isn't enough time... just a couple more years!" Sept 2022 - Dazzle "This new regime is a mess! How have they not already fixed everything!!!??? Eight months is more than enough time!"

[Waivers] 22 players - Sept. 30, 2022
Provost replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
It will be interesting to see when the better quality players end up in waivers, is there an upgrade on Dekeyser in there somewhere? He has been just fine, especially for a guy who will be near league minimum on a 1 year deal. -
-
All the fault is on Gillis clearly… I mean that is what you said for almost a decade while railing against people being negative and not really fans. I mean it would be totally hypocritical to be ragging on a new regime a few months into their tenure after literally hundreds of posts about how people needed to lay off Benning as he needed more time to sort out the mess he was left. If only the team had given Benning another 8 years, he would have been able to finish executing his two year plan! My real question is whether you are actually Benning or Weisbrod… I can’t tell which one. I suspect the latter. Don’t you have a resume to polish up instead of wasting time on here?

I can’t imagine how much you will rant when you find out about billionaires driving Ferraris and buying mansions worth tens of millions while failing to provide safe working conditions for immigrant berry pickers they shortchange on their minimum wage. It will completely blow your mind that there are even grown men who get paid tens of millions to play a game that they would play for free! Heck teenaged players get contracts worth millions before ever even stepping foot on an NHL ice surface! Crazy!!!

Obviously the output in this game was exciting to see. The part I really like is that he seems to be able to process things really fast and be able to play with guys like Petey and Hughes. He seemed to know where to be to finish or make a play. I don’t think he has ever gotten to share the ice with guys who can make those sorts of plays and passes to get him the puck. His play around the net is outstanding, something we haven’t had on the team in a while. Maybe since Burrows. I know it is the preseason against weaker opponents, but to me it seems like he might be able to surpass Garland and maybe even Boeser on the depth chart in really short order. I have been really slow playing my expectations of him, maybe 15-20 goals and 40 points. I think I am going to have to revise that upwards.

Yep…. $48k computer isn’t even the top end Mac Pro…. It could be more of a mid range one with some required expensive specialty software installed. I am sure they could make do with a cheaper one… but that is also not an insane price for engineering or video editing set ups. Aquilini could drive a Kia… but I bet he drives something higher end. Rich folks, different rules. He probably even writes it off as a work vehicle.

Except you took a very clear position, even if you didn’t realize it. You parroted Aquilini’s lawyer’s comments and said that was reasonable “business 101”. As I pointed out, the contentious issue is quite obviously NOT getting proof of the expenses in question. The contentious issue is that he wants proof directly delivered to his lawyer about where his estranged kids go to school and ways to confirm what classes they are attending. (You can get an invoice or receipt for tuition and then just drop the classes and get a refund, so “proof” would be a lot of very detailed time and location information on his kids. That is a very different thing than just wanting to confirm the expenses are real which was a simple thing to establish. As I said, if he wanted what you said is the “contentious issue” then he could have simply gotten it with no muss no fuss. Any of thousands of lawyers, or other neutral intermediary could have been provided the proof and attest to its veracity. His position even in the court case is that he and his representatives insist on being provided it, including a lot of personal details his children don’t want shared. They didn’t ask the court to confirm the expenses. Those are very different things.
-
The other take is… Aquilini is insisting that his lawyers (and he) get the information directly. If his actual concern was if the expenses were real, a neutral third party could have easily been appointed to verify the expenses without forcing his kids to unwillingly give a bunch of personal information to him. He is legally required to pay the expenses so that isn’t in question. This honestly seems like a dick move to try to exert control. “I have the money, you don’t… so sue me…” The fact she has made statements in court confirming the expenses, it is almost certain they are real. Any court will require proof, so there is no upside for her and her kids lying. She gets in trouble if she lied in court filings…. Pretty cut and dried.

Well the law doesn’t agree with you…. So the rest of us have to live in objective reality. Parents are responsible for sharing expenses while the kids attend university. University loans are even limited due to parental income. https://www.nasserallan.ca/child-support-university-expenses-adult-student-divorce-lawyer/
