  1. Such a drag updating this thread so frequently ..... Gary Rossington, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Last Original Member, Dead at 71 The founding member and guitarist, who provided the seagull-like slide guitar leads to Skynyrd’s signature “Free Bird,” survived the band’s infamous 1977 plane crash https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-country/gary-rossington-lynyrd-skynyrd-dead-1209960/ RIP Gary. Thanks for the great tunes.
  2. RIP Gary Rossington the last original member. Oops put this in the wrong thread.
  3. San Diego has a hockey team. The San Diego Gulls. This dope plays there .......
  4. We wasn't even that bad. When he was run out of town he was -10. In his first full season he had 41 points in 80 games. In the 89 series against the Lames he had 5 points in 7 games. The irony is we could actually use a guy like that now.
  5. It's been going on forever. Way back when, we had a defenceman named Robert Nordmark. The abuse he was subjected to was way over the top. I can't imagine how unbearable it would have been for him if there was social media. He was so picked on by the home fans at the Pacific Coliseum the 'fans' would boo EVERY time he touched the puck. Even if he was just collecting the puck behind his own goalie. The team eventually had to trade him as an act of mercy. Correction - He wasn't actually traded. He simply left and went back to Sweden. Where be played another 10 seasons.
  6. How is this any different than the Jim Benning era (error)?
  7. I hear ya bro. Sadly, I could have written this post myself.
  8. Got to hand it to this guy he keeps getting work. He's only played 29 games this year and all of them in the AHL and here he is back in the show.
  9. He was with Calgary. We gifted him his dream type of player belligerent, truculent Matthew Tkachuck who he scooped right after we took Juolevi.
  10. Trevor Linden looking like he's about to hurl as we drop from our #3 spot pre lotto to #5 (Olli Juolevi) We're the Canucks, we can't have nice things.
  11. Are people really arguing the importance of drafting high? Let's just look at 2 players from three teams..... Since 2009 Chicago - 3 cups Kane drafted #1, Toews drafted #3 Pittsburgh - 3 cups (4 trips to finals) Crosby #1, Malkin #2 Tampa Bay 2 cups (4 trips to finals) Stamkos #1, Hedman #2 That's 8 Stanley Cups in 11 Finals appearances. So is drafting inside the top 3 a crap shoot? Yes it is, occasionally you're going to get a Cam Barker or a Nail Yakupov. But it's pretty damn hard to win without those kind of picks.
  12. Also Bedard and Celebrini are both Vancouver products. They'd be a marketer's dream come true. More so than some kid from Russia or Finland.
  13. If he was smart he'd do it. Bedard is going to be a merchandising machine, a ticket selling machine (every home date will be sold out probably for as long as he plays). Not to mention the market capitalization of the franchise itself would be many times the $43 Mill. Also many many playoff games.
  14. Yes it was pre cap era. The Rangers are reported to have offered......... Tony Amonte Alexei Kovalev Sergei Nemchinov James Patrick Either Mike Richter or John Vanbiesbrouck Undisclosed multiple first-round draft picks $20 million
