  1. I'd say some of your comparisons are off a bit. Remember that $15 Million 1992 is the equivalent of $32.28 million today. And this is USD so in CAD that's $43.84 Million. And our owner is Aquaman so forget it.
  2. In 1992 this is what it took to get Eric Lindros ................. Steve Duchesne Peter Forsberg Ron Hextall Kerry Huffman Mike Ricci Chris Simon Philadelphia's 1st round pick in 1993 Philadelphia's 1st round pick in 1994 $15 million 2 picks, Demko and Jurmo gets you hung up on.
  3. He literally cannot say anything else. That's like Cheech saying he doesn't dream about cheeseburgers. Yeah Right
  4. Good points but juxtapose that with Bo Horvat. He was here for 8 full years and made the playoffs twice and if his number was met was probably happy to sign here long term and we appear to be going nowhere. Then he gets traded to a middling team and signs long term. He's seems OK with having his enjoyment killed and aging prematurely.
  5. Honestly what do you expect him to say? "Yeah it's totally fine being trash for 3-4 years as long as I get paid". He'd get ripped to shreds. But he sighed here long term so I guess he is OK with being on rubbish team for awhile.
  6. Yup we're the Detroit Lions, the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Sacramento Kings. I used to think how sad it would have been to be a Chicago Cubs fan. You could go your entire life cheering for them and never win anything. For some people it's 50+ years and counting.
  7. We've been doing the same thing for years and the results say we're going nowhere. Now maybe the moves will work and we'll get better, but how much better are we going to get in the next 2-3 with our cap situation and our deficient prospect pool? A deal like the one for Hronek is typically a finishing move. A move you make to get you over the hump and seriously contend. I guess management thinks they can build a serious contender out of a basement dweller faster than usual. If they can great. If they can't we're doomed to more years of basement dwelling.
  8. OK so we traded him for a guy who can walk at the end of next season. I suppose that's fine after our Stanley Cup parade next year.
  9. Question : If he's all that, why did Yzerman (who's not exactly a dummy) deem him expendable when his team is nearly playoff bound?
  10. Bottom line is this, we were the only team with zero chance of making the playoffs who were major buyers at the deadline. Every other crap team either stayed put or sold off assets for picks and prospects. If there's a plan I don't see it and management has yet to explain it.
  11. Luckily we don't have to worry about buying playoff tickets.
  12. We got a 2nd for Torts. The least TSN could give us is some fair coverage.
  13. Where does Livingston go after we sign him for 3 years? He's nowhere in your lineup. I assume Abby? Podkolzin as a 2nd line winger is more than a bit of a stretch. At this point he looks like a tweener AHL/NHL. Raty looks overwhelmed in the AHL. How is he our 3rd line center? I agree you've made the team better but it's still a tire fire. Unless Demko has a career year I'm afraid that lineup fails to make the playoffs and drafts around 13th. Which is depressing.
