Torterella interviews for Flyers Head coaching job
nuckin_futz replied to Toyotasfan's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Hmmm that's sounds vaguely familiar. -
Not following it but it is kinda hard to avoid. Like you said it's everywhere. From what I can gather she shi* talked him and he lost a few gigs. So he's suing for I don't know what. Probably a big bag of money. She may be counter suing, not sure. Oh and it seems she once shi* in their bed on purpose. Seems to be the Tik Tok generation's OJ trial.

If Torts is the Flyers coach and they suck the clash between him and the Philly fans will be delicious. -
[Poll] Was it a distinct kicking motion?

I'd let the goal stand. Reason being the puck had forward momentum on it's own. Coleman's contact whether intentional or not may have sped up the inevitable by 1/10 of a second. So the question becomes in that tenth of a second could any Oiler player have had a reasonable opportunity to stop the puck. Given their positions on the ice the answer is no. The NHL rules are fuzzy and up to interpretation by people with questionable integrity. Physics says the puck was going in anyway. Physics says it's a moot point. Physics says Calgary got screwed. I'm going with the immutable laws of physics over the 'room in Toronto'. -
Lawsuit Against Hockey Canada/CHL (2018 World Junior Team)

Pretty sad that you can buy your way out of these types of allegations when what's alleged is premeditated, predatory gang rape. Charges like that if proven in court would almost always result in significant jail time. Especially for 'John Doe #1' who by the sounds of it initiated the assault and then served the victim up to the others. Seems unlikely justice will be served as it sounds like the victim has no interest in pursuing the matter further. -

Strippers can apparently better forecast the market than your finance bro In a tweet that has since gone viral, a netizen who claims to be a stripper declared that we are currently in a recession based on the empty status of strip clubs. The user, @botticellibimo, explained that... the strip club is sadly a leading indicator and i can promise y’all we r in a recession lmao — reversecowgirl69 (@botticellibimbo) May 19, 2022 Since its posting on May 19, the tweet has garnered over 120,000 likes and nearly 15,000 retweets. In a series of recent posts related to their original tweet, the user made their case, arguing that “Sex work has survived through every war, recession, decline of empires,” and pointing out that strip clubs have been “an operative tool” for business people, and not just a source of ‘sinful’ entertainment. Referencing the 2001 Enron Corporation scandal, they claim strip clubs are where “energy salesmen bring their clients” and “recruiters bring prospective finance bros,” describing strip clubs and the world of business as “deeply integrated.” As strippers, “we always have to be aware of fluctuations in the market and how upper class white men are behaving and spending their money,” the user continued. “Ask ANY stripper we have to be aware of how rich people are going to spend their money, stripping is betting on how the rich spend their money.” “You’re gonna tell me that isn’t just a stock exchange?” The user also made the point that company holiday parties, which take place in December when finance employees typically receive their end of year bonuses, “make up a large part of strip club revenue,” emphasizing again the inextricable connection between strip clubs and the condition of the market. The person ended their series of tweets by concluding that, “every single stripper I know is a better trend forecaster than any finance bro or marketing exec.” One user responded with a personal story, sharing that in early 2007, a friend who was stripping at the time told them “the club is way too dead for way too long,” and advised them to sell their stock then and buy it back after the market crashed. “i thought she was crazy. but she did it, and she ended up almost doubling her money.” *********************** I must say I have to agree with reversecowgirl69@botticellibimbo. The first things people cut back on when tightening their belt is discretionary spending. You have to eat, pay utility bills, pay rent/mortgage, put gas in the car. You don't have to go to a strip joint, casino, driving range etc. Stuff like those $9 drinks at Starbucks are another good indicator. But this isn't any great new discovery. This has always been the case. -

The one in PG was owned by Husky. I see it was sold to Tidewater in 2019. I must have missed that. -
Those quotes remind me of the dry bulk shipping rates for global tankers/containers. The rates are all over the map. I have no idea how any one manufacturer can work that into their budgets. Makes me think of how airline's price seats. I have no idea how they decide their rates. Seems to make little sense. One day there are 20 seats left on a flight and they are $600. The next day there are still 20 seats available and now they are $700.

There's only 2 in BC. You listed the both of them. Well if you have a ton of sludgy oil that requires a lot of refining you would build one. But there wouldn't be a need if someone else is willing and able to do it. So here we are. I guess if we imported a larger amount of gasoline, jet fuel, heating oil etc. there may be a need but as is, there isn't. Edit - This is kind of interesting. There hasn't been a new refinery built in Canada since 1984. There hasn't been a new one built in the US since 1976. There's obviously a lot more usage of gasoline, jet fuel etc since then so I guess they just keep expanding the existing ones. -
Japan has had depressed birth rates for some time and the zombie economy to go with it. Then again South Korea (I believe) has even worse birth rates and are doing way better than Japan. As for the low birth rates in the States. Their economy (and ours) is predicated on a growing population. If the existing population is not reproducing fast enough then immigrants are coming. You can bank on that.

Ray Liotta with some very poignant words now that he has passed. I was under the impression he had been very ill for some time. Apparently I had him confused with Val Kilmer.

Gasoline Imports Just as Canadian refineries process both domestic and imported oil, gasoline terminals import gasoline in addition to domestic supply. Although Canada is a net exporter of gasoline, some imports are required to meet local demand due to differences in regional production. Quebec generally imports the most gasoline, much of which is subsequently shipped to Ontario. The Atlantic Provinces and British Columbia are the next largest importers of gasoline. The Yukon occasionally imports gasoline from Alaska. The European Union (E.U.) and the U.S. are both large sources of these imports. In 2017, the E.U. exported 5.0 billion litres to Canada, and the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported 1.2 billion litres of finished motor gasoline exports to Canada. https://www.rec-cer.gc.ca/en/data-analysis/energy-commodities/crude-oil-petroleum-products/report/2019-gasoline/index.html -

I wonder if anyone has ever done a cost feasibility on building the refining capacity up here. Seems rather daft shipping it south for them to refine then shipping it back north in the form of gasoline. -
Twitter has that covered in their regulatory filings. These filings are written by securities lawyers and have all the bases covered. The filings probably say something like "we estimate the percentage of user accounts that may be bots to be 5%. Although it may be significantly higher". I am sure Musk's lawyers (if he listens to them) have told him such. He's just appealing to the court of public opinion. I am pretty sure he knows he's really messed up here. Hence my last post where he's actively raising funding. He probably wouldn't be doing that if he knew he could get out of it.

Thank you for the correction. I was just spit balling hence the word probably in my post. Apart from Suncor I understand only 1/3 of Tar Sand oil is refined down to synthetic before moving south. -

If Tar Sand oil (bitumen) was used to make gasoline the cost per litre would probably have be around $4 per litre to justify the double refining cost.
