  1. There's a great documentary on Triumph that had the band reunite for a fan event. I highly recommend it if you can find it somewhere. These guys really should get back together.
  2. "For the 15th pick of the 2022 NHL Draft, the Vancouver Canucks are proud to select the next guy available who scored the most points last year."
  3. True, he did suck in the first half but who apart from Miller and a few others didn't? That's on Green. Young players that were let go is also on Green and JB. It's not like Chiasson said "Nope, I'm playing. Get rid of the kid".
  4. I found it a little weird how much hate was directed his way. He pretty much delivered as was advertised. He typically will get you about 12 goals and 25 points. Not much physicality and kind of a pylon on defence. That's pretty much what he delivered. Not sure why so many seemed to be expecting more of him.
  5. That is where the government is supposed to come in and regulate mergers. If they run afoul of anti-trust laws and become monopolies the government is supposed to nix the merger but as we all know (especially in the States) the politicians are in the pocket of business.
  6. Twitter jumps after Musk increases commitment in takeover bid to $33.5 billion, in talks for other funding A new filing reveals that Elon Musk plans to front $33.5 billion in his bid to take over Twitter. Musk is in talks with Twitter founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey and others to help finance, or roll their shares over, to complete the deal. As CNBC’s David Faber previously reported, Elon Musk is expected to serve as a temporary CEO of Twitter for a few months after he completes the $44 billion acquisition. Shares of Twitter rose 7% on the news. ****************** He knows he's stuck.
  7. A lot of them invest in real estate.
  8. S&P 18% off the top. TSLA 49% off the top. Down 37% since he made his bid for Twitter public. He's not even smart enough to conduct proper due diligence on an acquisition. He's got a very big problem with his Twitter deal. As of today his TSLA stock is worth a maximum of $120 Billion. His bid for Twitter is $44 Billion. He has a posse of investors but it looks like they are only in for $7 Billion. It looks like he cannot simply walk away and cough up the $1 Billion break up fee. From what I understand he cannot walk away if market conditions change. Nor can he walk away if he has changed his mind. That's why he's trying to weasel out by claiming Twitter mislead him about the number of bots. But Twitter has that covered in their regulatory filings. The same filings that it looks like Musk didn't bother to read. Twitter isn't going to let him off the hook. They must be absolutely salivating at closing this deal.
  9. June 1 and July 13 for the BOC.... Expect a hike of .5% at both meetings. June 15 and July 27 for the FOMC.... Expect a hike of .5% at both meetings. That would put both countries at 2%.
  10. CPI data from multiple countries including USA and Canada.
  11. *** While confessing to adultery he conveniently left out the fact that is was statutory rape. *** Pastor Admits to 'Adultery' During Service — But Then Female Church Member Takes the Mic: 'I Was Just 16' Pastor John Lowe prays during Indiana Pastors Alliance prayer rally at the Statehouse Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015, in Indianapolis. Supporters and opponents of expanding LGBT rights in Indiana have descended on the Statehouse, with both sides citing Christian beliefs as justification for their positions. A pastor in Indiana announced he was stepping down from his position on Sunday, telling his congregants that he had "committed adultery." However, after he walked away from the microphone, a woman claimed that was only the "partial truth," and that she was 16 at the time, according to video footage that has been viewed by thousands on social media. New Life Christian Church & World Outreach, located in Warsaw, acknowledged the accusations against Pastor John B. Lowe II in a statement on their website, writing in part, "We are hurting and broken for a woman who has lovingly attended and served in the church for many years, as well as for her husband and family." PEOPLE has attempted to reach Lowe for comment. The incident unfolded at the end of the service, as Lowe claimed that his infidelity occurred "nearly 20 years ago" and "continued far too long," according to the video. "It involved one person and there's been no other," he continued. "I sinned. I need to say that and you deserve to hear it." After asking for forgiveness from "those that I sinned against," Lowe announced that he would be stepping down, in accordance with church bylines and the recommendations of the board. Although he immediately got a standing ovation at the end of his speech, a hush quickly came over the crowd when a woman and her husband approached the microphone. "For 27 years, I lived in a prison. It was not 20 years," said the woman, who described herself as a victim of Lowe's. "I was just 16 when you took my virginity on your office floor. Do you remember that? I know you do." The woman, who has not been publicly identified by name, is now in her 40s, while Lowe is 65, according to the Washington Post. As she addressed the congregants, the woman said that for decades she lied "to protect the Lowe family" and "thought I was a horrible person." She claimed that she "would still be in a prison" today if not for her brother, who approached her two weeks earlier with his recollection of what he had seen when they were teenagers. "You are not the victim here," she said to Lowe. "The church deserves to know the truth. This church has been built on lies, but no more." "People have to be held accountable," added her husband. "They can't just bamboozle people and just say, well I just committed adultery. It was far beyond adultery." Then, the voices of several church goers could be heard, demanding to hear from Lowe. "If you did it, you need to admit it," one person could be heard yelling out. Around the 12-minute mark, the video shows how the pastor addressed questions from the congregation, saying, "She was 16 years old." "It was wrong," he said. "I can't make it right. I can't make it any better. That's just the way it is." "If I could go back and redo it all, I would," he added at another point. "I can't, and all I can do is ask you to forgive me." On Monday, the Kosciusko County Prosecutor's Office told news station WANE 15 that there is a pending investigation into the matter. However, when reached by PEOPLE on Tuesday, a spokesperson said in a statement that "after reviewing the Indiana Rules of Professional Conduct, Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney Daniel Hampton is not permitted to disseminate any information regarding alleged misconduct." New Life Christian Church & World Outreach did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment, but in a statement on their website, the church said "this long-held secret first came to light when a woman in the church came forward and disclosed the relationship to various people within the church." "When confronted by others in church leadership concerning that report, Pastor Lowe confessed privately that the adultery did, in fact, occur," the statement continued. "The woman in question and her family did attend together and addressed the congregation, indicating that improper sexual conduct first occurred when she was 16 years of age and continued into her twenties. She tearfully described living with deep shame and pain over the ensuing years." "In the wake of what has now been revealed, we are hurting and broken for a woman who has lovingly attended and served in the church for many years, as well as for her husband and family. It is our deepest prayer and commitment to love, support, encourage and help her through a process of healing in any way in which we are able," the church added. The church went on to claim that until the woman came forward recently, "none of this was disclosed to or known by any of the staff, ministers or personnel."
  12. There's already evidence that inflation may have peaked. Though it's not from enough data points to draw a reliable conclusion. 2008 was a once in a lifetime cataclysm of events. You had the complete seizure of credit which is the lifeblood of the financial system. What's going on today is peanuts compared to that. 2022 is just deleveraging from pretty obscene levels but there's no risk to the system. Let me know when the Government has to step in and take over WalMart.
  13. Corporate profits are a lagging indicator. Take a look at recent quarterly earnings from Target and WalMart. Also their warnings and projections for the next few quarters. It't ain't pretty.
  14. The people suggesting things like that are basically asking for Communism. Those people can go fly a kite. The gasoline tax is not a % of total price at the pump. It's a fixed amount per litre. The Government is not making more as the price rises unless they adjust the amount of tax per litre. Dramatic price rises as we have seen often bring about curtailed usage and less total litres being sold. Which would result in the Government collecting less total revenue not more. Last week I saw a similar discussion on Facebook where people were bitching that the Government was making out like bandits. I was tempted to post the inconvenient truth above, but thought better of it. Those people were not interested in the truth. They just wanted to bitch about stuff and blame someone else. C'est la vie.
  15. For the bargain basement price of $25,000,000/season. Good thing they only signed him for 7 years. Ouch
