  1. I've heard it all in this thread lol. Wake me up when its time for the combine. In the mean time yay Elhers..
  2. I hear a lot of comparisons that Ehlers could top out as a Nyquist. He's a hell of a player. Oh for those of you who think Ehlers has size issues, when Nyquist was drafted he was 5'10 169lbs.
  3. Yeah I think he plays both. I wouldn't mind him as a LW either.
  4. Me neither. He would be my last choice. I like Virtanen over him all day long.
  5. IMO is think the top 10 will go as follows barring any movement: 1. Ekblad- BPA, Florida needs a top line defender who can eat up mins. This guy should be a tank. 2. Sam Reinhart- Buff needs a future top line centerman. I think they go with this Sam instead. 3. Draisaitl- Edmonton needs size up the middle and rumour has it that they have a stiffy for this guy. 4. Dal Colle- Burke and Calgary's new gm mentioned they want SIZE and truculence in their lineup. Yes Ritchie is available, but if they pick Nick at #4 over MDC then I'll be very surprised, and better for us! 5. Ehlers- I have a feeling NYI will choose him. They are good with centers(Tavares,Strome,Bailey) for the forseeable future. They need a young speedy sniper, and I think he would fit well in NY. 6. Sam Bennet- Boom! We have our future #1 centerman. Sometimes these guys fall in the draft. This guy has the potential to be Gilmour/Toews 2. The thought of that has me drooling uncontrolably. 7. Ritchie- Carolina needs size and grit on the wings. Perfect guy for them. 8. Nylander- T.O. Theres no denying that the Laffs need a top centerman in the pipeline. They haven't had one since Sundin 100 years ago. 9. Virtanen- BPA at this point and I think Winnipeg jumps all over him. 10. Perlini- Great fit for the Ducks, I thnk he'll flourish over there. No hurry to insert him in the line up either.
  6. Either one will do just fine . I'm very excited for this pick.
  7. Iv'e been athletic my whole life. I play many sports including ice hockey, and always try my best to succeed at everything I do. One thing I like about Ehlers, and why I think he'll succeed(barring a major injury) is because he has heart, and determination. I can't remember where I read it, but he said something along the lines that he will do everything he can to put on more weight and muscle. He seems like a smart kid on and off the ice. He believes in himself and wants to get better. You can see the effort level when he's on the ice. He could have stayed in Denmark, but I think he came to NA to prove that he can be one of the best to ever play the game. He will become a force in this league IMO, and when that time comes I hope he's playing for us.
  8. When I was Ehlers age I was exactly his size. From the age of 18-22 I grew to 6'2.5, and weighed 208. I accomplished the weight part by going on a strict gain diet and worked out with heavy weight all natural. I'm 36 now and still weigh the same. I also practice martial arts and i'm at a very high level in my school. I have very fast reflexes, speed, and power for my weight, age, and height. I'm not saying that Ehlers will be the same height as me (who knows he might be), but with the proper diet and workout routine(training) he can put on the weight for sure. Not sure why some are freaking out about his size so much? Its not like he isn't a good height already. He just needs to fill in.
  9. Yes, Yes, join us. Lots of room on the Ehlers wagon.
  10. Just saw this on HF and thought i'd share http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showpost.php?p=83038321&postcount=664
  11. I hope we draft Ehlers. He would be my choice, but that's just a personal prefference. I don't discredit any of the other posters opinions, or players that may be available/chosen at #6 instead. I just really hope Our scouts/Gm chooses the right guy for this team because it isn't very often that we have the ability to draft in the 6th position of the draft. I pray we get a future superstar and not a bust. It would really shed some light on this injury hampered season, and almost make it worthwhile that we don't get to see our team competing for the cup right now. I'll try not to get my hopes up though.
  12. Because he will become a Canuck on draft day 2014
  13. I think it would be great to draft Elhers at 6th (If the big 5 don't fall), and maybe a guy like Tuch at 10th (if we trade Kesler) to balance it out. I would rather do that then pick up Ritche at 6th, and Nylander at 10th, but either would be pretty sweet I guess. I just think having a big centerman would be more ideal. I think Tuch is in the same mold of a guy like Bujugstad. Big, power centerman with a good all around skillset.
  14. Do you ever look at the flip side of your argument? Do you believe that Ritche will come in the league as a sure fire first liner right away or something. You don't think he'll need some grooming in the minors for some odd years as well? Ritche may take just as long if not LONGER to develop and be a possible top six forward in the NHL because power forwards typically take longer to develop. Your argument has no substanse.
  15. In his defence there have been many players over 6 feet tall in the first round that have busted. What is your point? Of course some players big, or small will not succed at the NHL level, but its not like Ehlers is a shrimp either. There are many factors involved that you, nor I know about any of these players. All we can do is really is trust our scouts and hope they choose correctly.
  16. Just a question. Were all of those busts 17 when they put up those numbers?
  17. How do you know that Kesler and Higgins will be on this team by the time Ritche is ready for top 6 minutes? Power forwards take time to develop at the NHL Level unless you're Ovi or someone in that category which Ritche isn't even close to being. Kes and Higgy may not even be here by the time he is ready.
