  1. Yeah I love hogz but it costs something to get something. That sounds like a win win to me. I see Hogz putting up better numbers than Garland quite quickly.
  2. Yes but Hughes could also have signed a 3 year deal and maximized his earning potential. Anyway it worked out for us. Who knows, maybe Hughes just wanted long term security while Petey is good with the risks of betting on himself with short term deals.
  3. I also like that he signed a fair contract when he did. I love Petey but you know the guy is also trying to extract maximum dollars from this club. He's not gonna leave money on the table to field a more competitive team. I'm guessing management wants guys like Hughes to lead by example.
  4. Well JR and co have had 2 off seasons and the team has changed quite a bit. We'll see if their blue line solutions worked. (Hronek, soucy, Cole and buying out OEL) If this doesn't work, Petey isn't stupid. Rebuilding the blue line again will take many years.
  5. I must be living under a rock. Everyone is pumped but I have no idea who this guy is...
  6. Podz is such a good 2 way player. I would be happy if Podz didn't even think about points but only about being better than the opposing line. If he could be a guy that matches up against other top lines and really limit their chances while chipping in offensively and let guys like Petey do the scoring, I'd be happy. He's the type of player that will create more chances than he gives up so if he can do that against another team's top 6, we'd win more as a team regardless of how many points he puts up individually
  7. I'm glad he's using a known trainer endorsed by RT. I'm glad he's skipping Da Beauty. Yes it sounds like the annual Brock optimism quote but these are actual tangible changes Brock has made for this season in an effort to be better. Fool me for the millionth time. I think Brock will put up personal best numbers this year. My only hope is that once he achieves this, he signs a hometown discount to offset the millions he was undeservingly paid all these years. If he goes for max contract, I think I would end up hating the guy.
  8. Will he and Chatfield be ok on the same team?
  9. Agreed. The risk reward is not there. He could do more damage to this club than help it. Not worth the risk
  10. I think about that too. No elite talent. Just a bunch of above average players who bought into the system and know their roles. Their playing style took an entire season of losing to learn how to play it. Last year, they looked like a really fast team because the system was second nature to them. That's exactly how RT wants our guys to play. Now that the rest of the league has had a year of watching. I wonder if teams make adjustments and come better prepared. I would think that another disciplined team who plays a similar system but with better talent would win out?
  11. Hers another thought. If Seattle continues to find success and are a perrenial playoff team, will we see some fans jump on the bandwagon? Ownerships gotta be somewhat concerned.
  12. Same here. I think Vancouver is going to turn into a pressure cooker. Vegas having success so quickly is one thing but to have a new team just south of the border also finding success and making the right moves is going to magnify everything here in Vancouver and really highlight the short cuts or bad moves management has / will make. Im trying to see the glass as half full. Competition should result in a better product.
  13. I see. Yeah I think I read about the 50 contract limit but I can see how a cash rich team could sign a bunch of bubble guys on one way contracts at that threshold giving them guaranteed money / incentive to sign...
  14. That's great. I didn't realize there was a threshold where salary can be buried in the minors. I see that this year's number is 1.15m So are there no cap implications if we sign a player for 1.15m or less? But if we sign someone for say... 1.3m, we're on the hook for 0.15m?
  15. Lol touche What happens when we sign Zadina to a 1 year 1.2m 1-way contract and Hogz beats him out (which I have full confidence in) Are we on the hook for the cap? If not, sure why not sign him and let them compete.
  16. I dunno about more undersized forwards... I'd be ok if this was a depth ahl signing....
  17. I would rather give a home grown talent that has been giving it his all after being demoted to the AHL like Nils Hoglander a chance before Zadina. The guy has been all talk no action. Remember when he slid down the draft and said he'll make other teams regret passing on him... Lol
  18. Here's to hoping his meteoric rise continues and he has a d+1 like Petey
  19. I don't follow the draft much. What was his concensus rating predraft?
  20. I'm still hoping for a rebound year from OEL so that he is a serviceable top4 D. I still think he can do it.
  21. Id still prefer that than the albatrosses handed out to the likes of guys like OEL Hard to nitpick another team's signing when we have so many bad ones...
