  1. Sooo looks like Holtby wont be getting bought out. Dont we need to expose him to the expansion draft?
  2. If JV is stressed out with his legal battles and takes it out by training like an animal this summer and comes back lean and well conditoned, do the Canucks still buy him out? Current optics are really bad but if this is settled out of court and there is no criminal precedings, is it still enough to cut ties with JV? Reminds me of Kobe and find it interesting that he was still so beloved by his Laker fans despite a rape allegation and settling out of court. He also had to buy his wife a giant diamond ring. by the way, I dont condone any of this but I do wonder if this was the final wake up call.
  3. I'm a JB fan but if we held onto Louie, lost Toffoli due to lack of capspace and then panic and trade Louie and a 1st in his final year while putting up with him for the last 3-4 years, I will drive JB to the airport myself
  4. It is questionable whether Louie is still a capable NHL player (even in a bottom 6 role) Otherwise, the Canucks would play him there. They played him on 3rd line until other players outplayed him even in that role. Our prospects and depth players as it stands are better than Eriksson and Roussel
  5. I think riding Holty next year is fine. Yes we save 3.8 but we have to sign someone prob in the 1.5 range so it saves us 2.3 And then the 1.9 cap hit the following year is terrible. What if Demko gets injured? Id rather Holtby take the starting position in the event of a Demko injury and having a vetl ike him as insurance is critical in a year where we need solid goaltending toget us in the playoffs.
  6. Can the Canucks have an agreement with Louie to hire him as a European Scout if he happens to retire for the same amount owed for 21-22 season? He would be one of the highest paid scouts lol THis then could backfire like the Luongo debacle cited for cap cirumvention unless we take Louie's lost earnings next year and spread that over 3 years to give him a 3 year contract as a scout
  7. I've been trying to learn about how they work and it seems there are 2 sets of rules depending on age. After much reading, is it true that Jake is pretty much the only one that might be worthy of a buyout? Erikkson, Roussel only gives minimum cap relief but an additional year of cap hits makes it not worth it in my opinion. If we get through this 21-22 season, we can go in with a clean slate rather than have another year of carry over with Eriksson and Roussel. Me personally, I'd rather take my lumps in 21-22 and just be done with it
  8. lol the people that attended were too embarassed to even be in the picture including the organizer
  9. Since the 2021 playoffs have started, Canucks have more wins than the Oilers
  10. I admittedly stopped watching near the end. I did like what I saw in Rathbone. Do you think he outplayed Juolevi? Juolevi seemed to have a solid year but not much playing time? I thought he should have been playing over Benn and Chatfield all season
  11. What was beagles injury? Any word now that season is done?
  12. Does Eriksson have a chance to play next year if he comes to camp in great shape? If we make the 3rd line a checking line of Pearson Horvat Eriksson and free up the other top 6 guys (Miller Petey Boeser, Hogz, Podz) , can Eriksson keep up? His defensive play has never been the issue...
  13. If he trades a first and ends up with solid player who is on a good contract (Miller situation but better as it is a higher draft pick) and immediately fills a team's needs, woudl we be upset? I feel like our young core is ready and adding a paying like that through trade and maybe an FA signing woud make this team a legit playoff team That being said, if there's a stud available at the draft, take him
  14. We could go back further and say we had the the top PP in the league and are president trophy winners?
  15. Is Beagle not coming back? Is his injury that serious?
  16. I was talking about the players who are locks not necessarily the lines. But yes, if Petey can't play C, then we'd be messing the 3 lines together Has Petey ever played with Horvat and Pearson? That would leave Boeser Miller Hog Podz would then go to 3rd line
  17. LOL. Im not advocating to keep him. Just saying he's better than our fringe bottom 6 prospects and if the money is low then it's not so far fetched
  18. Boeser Petterson Hog Miller Pod Pearson Horvat Motte Beagle I think these players (not necessarily the lines) are set for next season. Buy out or trade Roussel Bubble players who are RFA or under contract Lind, Gadj, Graovac, McEwan 2 of these 4 should be able to fill 2 empty spots on bottom 6. We really needed toffoli on that top line lol. What a miss... Is there a bonafide top winger available in the next 2 years via UFA? We'll need to draft D this year so it'll be (not these lines) Schmidt Myers Hughes Rathbone Juolevi Sign Edler and Hamonic That should be our 7 D we carry this year
  19. Yup. As long as there is no over payment and the contract term is not long
  20. Unless he takes a super low cap hit. He's still an NHL player and better than most of our prospects
  21. I want to ice the best line up next year. If that means Edler at 6d with 6D money, so be it. If Rathbone takes his spot, then so be it. There's always injuries in a season and having 7 NHL calibre defensemen will be good.
  22. Batchelor trying to stir up trouble Leading question to Brock and then following up with his own quip about Brock's development not being attributed to current group of coaches... Lol. Brendan's gotta hide his personal agenda a little better... Sloppy journalism If you ask a player a specific question regarding how the coaching staff has contributed to his development and the player talks about how he has developed but doesn't name coaches, you can't infer that as a knock on the current coaching staff. Brock is responding to the question regarding the coaching staff so obviously when he talks about his development, it's answering the question.... Jeez... The way it's written is so obvious that he's trying to stir the pot
  23. Yeah watching the interview was great. Really like him and he adds character to this team. He was thankful for the opportunities which is a great indication he'll be back.
