I still don't get your point. The rift would exist because Miller would have wanted the team to raise concerns on the safety of return to play but they didn't so he had to do it himself. In fact you went further to say owners probably did not want the players to say. In doing so, he felt like the team didn't have his or the players' best interest at heart. Anyway this is all speculation and probably not worth a debate as this is all a figment of my imagination lol

I hope it's not Miller. I only wondered if it was him becuase he just seemed pissed off the entire year. If I was always pissy, I would consider a change of scenery How many times have we heard him scream the eff bomb on TV this year? That plus having to speak out about the return to play after covid. I think millsy is an emotional guy though and if it was him asking for a trade, I think you could also quickly defuse the situation with him.

What does Lehner have to do with this? I'm just saying from experience, when you manage a team and the team is getting shafted by the company, usually it's the manager that speaks out (on behalf of the team). An employee on a team doesn't do it unless they feel like management isn't doing their job. How many times have you heard praise from employees regarding their managers. Some common ones are, manager is super demanding but he/she always goes to bat for us. For instance, there's a lot of managers that tow the company line and relay the company directives in a softer way to the employees. Employees than listen to the manager and decide whether they too want to tow the company line and still work under the manager (Becuase he/shr has other good qualities) or decide that they no longer want to work for said company. If the latter, those managers then lose the trust of some employees and they seek employment elsewhere. I've seen it happen in the workplace and it's not farfetched to believe it happens in other places like hockey too. Who knows, it might be Miller that wants out.

Do you think it was right that Miller spoke up instead of Benning or ownership? He literally had to talk about players feeling like their safety was being neglected before the league did anything. I'm a fan of Benning and how he's built the team with great young talent. He has been very quiet though on anything contentious This might be a good thing in the long run as guys like MG and Burke may have burned some bridges but I'm just speculating (pure speculation) on why a player may want out.

I wonder if Benning being extended has anything to do with it. Maybe they didn't think he had their backs when the schedule first came out. You know Burke would have raised hell. And then when covid decimated the team, Miller had to speak out. My guess is that some players lost respect for Benning as a yes man to the league and didn't have their best interest. Again all speculation with zero facts lol

If I was LE I'd want a trade. Who else under contract didn't get playing time? Rousel and Beagle and Ferland were injured but had playing time prior to injury. If a trade request is not playing time related, I just hope it's not anyone from the young core. Most of the vet salaries are expiring this year or next year so this is puzzling

No. If I hated my boss, I wouldn't wish he'd be back. I'd say they were good coaches and had the respect of the room and leave it at that. If I really wanted him gone, I'd say He was a good coach but this is a tough league and we're not sure what will happen this offseason including the players. We'll see what happens and come back ready to play next year.

[Report] Jim Benning to return for next season
CanucksJay replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Our idea of defence is to stay in a box like the PK. We dont have the confidence to contest and challenge opposing players so we defend by collapsing and blocking shots and then recovering the puck. That's such an amateur way of playing hockey and one that is deployed when you are lacking the skill. I still remember a game we won 20 years ago when we were playing a really good team. We literally deployed that tactic and won 2-1. Pretty much scored on the random 3-5 chances we had that game and pulled out an upset. You only do that because you know the other team is better than you -
[Report] Jim Benning to return for next season

He's prob not liking Luongo, Spooner, Erikkson, Roussel, Ferland, Baertschi. That being said, how much of it is actualy money instead of cap hit and how much of it is insurance. I wonder what the out of pocket money to Aqualini is. \No way he would be ok with paying out full cap hits on them Erikkson stopped being a roster player this year, and his salary this year and next year is 4m (including bonus). I dont know if Luongo gets paid as he retired, Spooner was bought out so there was a one time fee but it might be 1m per year, Roussel and Ferland are probably paid by insurance, Baertschi was paid by insurance at one point but is now getting paid (2.4) All in all, the cash outflow is not bad compared to the caphit. I think all this cost Aquaman 7.5m ish this season Still a crazy amount of money to throw away but when you are a billionaire running a sports team, that's a part of the business. -
[Report] Jim Benning to return for next season

I like your hiring suggestions. I dont know what Weisbrod has done or has not done to have input on a person losing his livelihood lol Also is this a 1 year deal? If I was Aquaman, that is fair. Consider this year a writeoff, prospects are one more year developed, Podz comes over for next season, Petterson is healthy, new guys liek Schmidt and Hamonic have had a year on the team. There is no reason why the Canucks should miss the playoffs next year. I would give Benning next season to see the fruits of his labor. If next year is a disaster as well, then yes, definitely look for a seasoned GM to take over. -
This year was a freak year with a shortened, condensed schedule , our team decimated by covid, Pettersson being injured more than half the season. I'm glad it was only 56 games. It was a learning lesson for our team. Slow coming out of the gate really cost us. I think we'll see them more prepared entering next season. I do have big hopes for next year and a bottom 10 finish next year would make me question my talent assessments

Our future top 6 forwards Pettersson Miller Boeser Horvat Hog Podz Miller is the old man out of the group Honorable mentions - Lind, Gadj, Pearson (could play up and down the line as required) Top 4 D Hughes Juolevi Schmidt Myers Honorable Mentions -Rathbone, Woo Goalie Demko Top 10 pick this draft How are we not excited about pretty much every position? I think having Toffoli would have been excellent and that's a miss by Benning. That could have resulted in Miller being 2C and Horvat playing shutdown 3rd line with Pearson. Other than that, Benning has literally loaded up every position with great young players and a high draft this year.

LOL at least they were champions...

So Jake is pretty much being sued for rape. This is pretty serious stuff. We don't know what actually happened so I dont have an opinion besides this is really bad if true. Is there a criminal investigation component to this? I wouldnt think rape would stop at just being a civil court matter?
