I'm a pretty big Benning supporter but Pearson contract and this trade back to back is not helping.... I didn't have high hopes for Gaudette and best case scenario was a 3rd C but his defensive play and faceoff skills were lacking. I'm hoping for a Motte type situation to change my mind on this move but at first glance, I'm not a fan. I guess the question is, was Gaudette a 3rd or even a 4th line C on a cup calibre team? Probably not. So maybe they don't want to keep going down this path whereas Pearson can be a 3rs or even 4th liner on a contender...

Thank God. If JB protects him, I might have to cross over to the other side -

Hold on, we have to protect him at the expansion draft? At what? The expense of Jake, Gaudette, Motte or Macewan? His salary and term is long enough that he didn't need protection... Wtf? -

I'm a Benning supporter but it's signings like this that makes me think otherwise... We have Horvat, Boeser, Petey, Hogs, Miller and Pearson in top 6. We have Podz coming in. Even if Podz doesn't immediately come and displace Pearson in the top 6, signing him to anything over 2.5 is asinine. To give him a 3 year contract for a future bottom 6 (only a matter of time) is insane... -

I think it's really shameful of the media to suck up the the league. There was a leaked Colin Campbell email many years back where he was emailing the referees. I believe he referred to a player as a little fake artist and his email was written in such a way that it showed his bias. Now imagine you are a a manager and you receive an email from your boss that is clearly written with intent on what he wants to see or how he wants certain employees to be treated. What would you do? If you want to keep your job, you do what he says. This should have been a crapstorm in the media but no, it was all swept under the rug. Very shameful Here is the link https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/savard-emails-exposed-nhls-colin-campbell-corrupt--nhl.html The full document link to the email exchange is also there The fact that he is still the Director of Hockey Operations for the NHL even when he has shown clear bias is pretty revealing -

I think it's complete BS that Mtl hasn't played since Toffoli got injured. Imagine our entire team had the time off since Pete's injury? What is the protocol for covid and teams not playing? Shouldn't they dress whoever they can dress? Why did we play when Miller and Benn had it? My hope is that they don't extend the season but jam all the missed games into the same schedule end date. If they don't finish the season and calculate playoffs by win percentage, they better allow play ins again

I agree We have the key core pieces that are young. Give this group another couple of years to develop and they'll be taking up most of the cap space. Pettersson, Boeser Horvat Demko Hughes Up AND Coming : Hoglander, Pod Secondary Miller, Virtanen, Gaudette, Myers, Schmidt (perhaps Tryamkin) Maybes: Rathbone, Lind, Gadjovich Ofcourse we need to keep drafting well to have younger cheap talent filling in. The main issue right now is that our young core should be what puts a contending team over the top for a Stanley cup but when JB took over, we were a horrible team. Our window is when our young guys hit their prime and complimented by future draft picks and guys like Lind and Rathbone stepping up. We might make one splash and get a Pietrangelo type player when the time comes but that time is not now

Also wanted to add Graovac looks pretty decent. Size and speed with some skill. I don't know why but I was not liking him in the lineup but he's shown he deserves a shot. Dunno why we have Rousel when guys like Graovac do the same job or better for less than half the price. Rousel is a no go for me. Peel's situation exposed a clear bias in games and we know that Rousel A) Gets called on weak penalties B Doesn't draw a call when he should C) Is at best a mediocre player Not his fault entirely but that to me suggests he's a liability to the team . There should be a recourse for players to sue the NHL Becuase the way they are reffing him is implicitly going to affect his future earnings.

I think the league needs to understand not every game needs to or should be a close affair. If a team was built poorly or in the middle of a rebuild, it makes sense they get spanked every night. They shouldn't be held up on crutches by the referee to make the game more entertaining. That goes against the spirit of competition. Calling games fairly forces a GM to be better, coaches to be better, players to be better. If a team will lose fans in the South for being crappy, maybe we shouldn't have put a team there in the first place. The litmus test of a franchise should be, can a city support a losing team? If the answer is no, don't award the city a team or else the league becomes a sham... -

LOL how bush league is the NHL that a team undeserving of a powerplay gets one despite the fact they may have deserved all their penalties just because the league wants to even out the calls. What's the point of reffing then? Reminds me of 2011 when Boston realized that they weren't going to win unless they took penalties that the league may or may not call so they kept crossing the line. Can't call them all right? The absolute final blow for me was when Sedin got a penalty for not retaliating but complaining as Marchand was punching him in the face. WWE at its finest. Sad that I keep watching because I love this team. -

Where's Ron Mclean? How are you going to defend this Ron? Pretty much did a character assassination of Burrows for. Telling the truth and what we all knew happened in this league. -
Toffoli was supposed to miss 3 games this week but looks like team caught covid just in time... Too bad the canucks didn't get a break earlier in the season.someone should have faked it...
