Yawn.... Same old same old. Do you think the Canucks have played better the last 5-6 games or are they playing at the same level as the beginning of the season? You gotta find positives and build on it. I would admittedly be worried if they still couldn't string 2 passes together. They've actually carried the play recently. Time is running out on this season but I do like what I'm seeing from this team and we have a bright future. Carrying the play and having no puck luck in a shortened season is different from a macro view of the stats and saying we lost 8 out of 10.

Woah, I think it's too early to count them out. 2 out of Oilers Jets flames and Canucks will make it. I think we are the best team out of those 4. We've outplayed our opponents starting from even the loss to the Leafs. I think if we keep up our play, we'll squeak in

Great post. I'm a huge fan of Myers. After watching our guys get manhandled by the Bruins in 2011,it was refreshing to see him last playoffs against the Blues. The only way they slowed him down was running him from behind. I felt like the calls on him weren't like other playoffs where the whistle went away. It was more ticky tac calls. I for one would love to have Myers back.

I actually think the Canucks choice to retool instead of rebuild could have put them in a much worse situation than now. The fact that we got the best player in the draft in Hughes and Pettersson without completely tanking is as if we tanked and got the first overall picks. So in that sense we are quite fortunate that our retool looked more like a rebuild in terms of results

Well yesterday was lost with 2 shifts from our bottom 2 lines matched up against their top lines. Canucks controlled the play for the first 2 periods but I wonder how much of it was the Leafs not really skating hard. Once the Leafs started skating, Canucks back end couldn't handle the pressure. Schmidt has come from a solid team to this tire fire with him being one of the problems. I wonder what his take is and why things are going so poorly and what difference he is seeing between Vegas and Canucks

(Rumour) Virtanen on the trade block
CanucksJay replied to Wayne Glensky's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
As much as I dont want to give up on Jake, I would do a Jake for Jake trade -
Hughes was a Calder finalist Edler is a solid dman (top 4) Schmidt was supposed to be a top 2 Myers is a top 4-5 dman Hamonic should easily be a 3rd pairing dman Juolevi and Chatfield look good and we have Rathbone in the mix. The players are underperforming so. Why are we blaming JB? Coming into this season, I was excited because I thought our defense was upgraded from last year.

That's what I used to say and it's in fact true. He's handcuffed himself and missed out on Toffoli. But that's it. I wouldn't have re-signed tanev or markstrom to those terms. You think Tony Stecher would fix our problems right now? The problem of capspace has been exposed because our youth got so good so fast. My guess was that Benning was expecting our young guys to peak as the vet contacts were expiring. Sounds like a double edge sword...

LOL I'm a pretty big fan. I was pissed at the Erikson signing, and some of the vets like Sutter, Rousel, Beagle but he's hit home runs at the draft and when you look at the big picture, we have a tremendously talented young core, all the garbage contracts are expiring in 1-2 years and will have tons of cap space I think in 2 years, we'll be a contender. Did you expect us to win the cup this season?
