  1. He was basically brought in by Benning to satisfy the expansion draft rules.... so we could protect Tyler Myers.
  2. Turned down an offer of 25% ownership of the nucks... today that's worth a quarter of a billion dollars.
  3. Let's not get carried away here, I feel like your hate might be blinding you. He is most definitely overpaid and is prone to brain farts but there is no world in which he is not a "top 6" nhl dman.
  4. Dont forget the 7th overall they wasted on Lias Anderson in the same draft as Chytil. I don't think getting a 45 point center makes up for a 7th and a 21st overall draft pick. Let alone balances out a stagnated 1st and 2nd overall. Miller was a steal I will give you that.
  5. Breaking news... Tanya Harding has been hired as special assistant to player personnel.
  6. So crazy that he was able to shoot down a bunch of offers, then sign a 4 million dollar 3 year deal as a 33 year old physical dman with a million hard miles and not the fleetest of foot.
  7. Would it be that much better with Suter and Parise eating up more than their buyout costs? It was a penny pinching decision for the ownership and a minimal cost performance wise. They are in a pinch because they signed those contracts 6 years ago, they aren't in a pinch for buying them out.
  8. Tidy piece of business for Minny. This could be the best value in the league if he continues his pace from last season. Interesting canuck connection....Filip was drafted by the penguins with the pick that was sent along with bonino for Sutter. We acquired this pick by trading Bieksa to Anaheim.
  9. Yeah!!!! Irwin's league minimum 2 way contract was a massive overpayment!
  10. That would be a given seeing as barzal would have taken the brunt of the opposition's focus. Not hard to understand at all. As for Tavares' first season after leaving the isles? He had his best season ever, scored 10 more goals than the season before (12 more at even strength) with less ice time. The fact that he has maintained his point totals despite his advanced age would definitely indicate a more beneficial system. Also interesting that he has received selke votes in 6 seasons over his career, 5 of those were with the islanders where he had to be more defensively responsible.
  11. He had a .88 point per game last year. His rookie season he had a 1.03 A shell of his former self? A tad bit melodramatic don't you think?
  12. Let's not get carried away with the "Miller put up more points in the last 4 seasons" angle here and not acknowledge the fact that barzal plays in a completely different system with less emphasis on offense not to mention his injuries and that his ice time was significantly lower.
  13. Barzal is 4 years younger and put up near a point per game with a defensive minded islander system. If anything horvat has a better long term linemate in Barzal than Miller. Won't know how it plays out until it does but I'm willing to bet that the first half of last season was an anomaly and he will continue on his 25-30 goal 55-60 point production for the next 3-4 seasons before regression. Point is having Miller or barzal on his wing is negligible.
  14. Yeah I remember that Seabrook deal all too well. I argued in the thread that the deal was far too long and his play was going to decline. Got piled on by almost everyone in the thread. Within 2 years that contract was a boat anchor bigger than OEL's. I would have tagged the lot of them and laughed but there is nothing worse than dragging a thread to death.
