I came to this thread to see the sheer numbers of posters encouraging a halak move while pumping Martin's tires. Shocked that it's only 2 posters so far. Way to go CDC!
Silly me. So this whole time you didn't think that the 2007 draft was neither pathetic, depressing and especially not brutal. Boy do I have egg on my face!
Once again I apologize.
There was never any excuse for any other year. I'm not defending every single draft year
I'm not ok with crappy drafting but to choose one of the worst drafts in nhl history and cry because we didn't do well would be petty at best.
Check out the first 3 teams that drafted that year.
Chicago has Kane at #1 and that was it
Philly had JVR at #2 and then nothing (well they did draft maroon in round 6 but he never played a game for them and they got nothing for him)
Phoenix had turris at #3 and then nothing (even though they had 2 firsts and 2 seconds)
Horrible drafts are called Horrible drafts for a reason.
Patrick White ----> Christian Ehrhoff
28 goals, 94 points, +55 in 159 games over 2 seasons.
That's a hell of a rental for the 25th pick in a seriously weak draft.
Miller can't actually sign an extension yet. As per section 50.5(f) of the CBA:
A player can only sign an extension in the final year of their contract.
You do realize that a 1st round pick has pretty much double the value of a 2nd don't you? What about 2 1st round picks? I'll give you a hint... the value doesn't go down.
If you believe otherwise you sir are the one who is "completely insane and utterly wrong".
Same goes with the nay sayers. Reading the Motte/Miller/OEL threads its the same Debbie downers making horribly negative reactions preaching worst case scenarios without really even knowing the players.
We almost need 2 jerseys amongst posters... rose colored or dark and gloomy.
Going into the playoffs we had an amazing bottom 6...
Sedin Sedin Burrows
Raymond Kesler Samuelsson
Torres Malhotra Hansen
Higgins Lapierre Glass
Once injuries happened it became
Sedin Sedin Burrows
Torres Kesler Hansen
Higgins Lapierre Glass
Oreskovich Hodgson Tambellini
Out of goalies that have played at least 8 games this season Halak is 22nd in sv% (.915) and 20th in GAA (2.59 GAA). These numbers despite playing 3/4's of those games behind baumers tire fire defense. To even insinuate that halak is to blame for those 7 losses would be preposterous.
