Insane to think the canadiens took KK over Brady Tkachuk and Quinn Hughes. Not even like they were late bloomers or anything, everyone and their dog had them ahead of KK. Bergevin could have literally googled it and made a better pick. As far as match vs. not? I'd say walk, between the 6.1mil of cap and the 1st+3rd it's a no brainer. Cut your losses and find a better #2 center.

[Signing] Blues re-sign Colton Parayko
coryberg replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Wait a minute... I thought Benning was supposed to have sat on his hands this offseason and waited for Parayko to fall into our laps!!! -
#1 Of course LE had value! If he wasn't in the deal we would have to give up 2 firsts! Prospects and draft picks are negative value.... we should have waived JH!! #2 LE scored 30 goals in boston so he was a better canuck. Don't look at salary or his body of work with the Canucks! #3 Did I mention that LE scored 36 goals 14 years ago? He obviously was a better player for vancouver! #4 I don't like the numbers that LE put up in vancouver. He was on a bad team so he had to play in the bottom 6. JH had it easy cause he was on a bad team so he got to play on the top line!!! I'll just use LE's stats from other teams to show he was a better canuck. #5 It was the coaches that sank LE! They had a 3rd line player get hurt so they had to use a 30 goal scorer to plug the hole for 4 years straight! He would have scored 30 goals a year if not. JH was on a bad team so he scored 22 goals and was on a good team when he had 39 points so you can't count those! Look over here ...LE scored 29 goals in 2009!!!! Am I doing it right?

Lol someone should let that poor guy know that I have him on ignore so he can stop tagging and quoting me. I figured LE's best season with the Canucks vs Janniks last full season was more than fair to show that Jannik outperformed LE in the blue and green. But just for shats and giggles let's take a look at LE's last 5 years as a canuck vs Janniks last 5 years as a canuck. -LE played 262 games and had 90 points -Those 5 years costed 30 million -He played his way from the 1st line to off the entire nhl roster...not even 13th or 14th forward...waived to the taxi squad. -It cost us assets to get rid of him -JH played 294 games and had 131 points -Those 5 years cost 10.2 million -He played his way from the 4th line to the 1st line. -We received a prospect and a pick when we moved on from him So 41 more points, 19.8 million dollars less, steady progression instead of regression and we gained assets instead of losing assets at the end of it all. Not even up for debate who the better player was for us.

Both were good defensive players but Jannik was definitely a much better player both physically and offensively for the Canucks, there is really no comparison. In Janniks last full season as a canuck he put up 22 goals and had 38 points while being a +16 in only 67 games. That's .57ppg for 2.5 million. LE's best season as a canuck was 11 goals and 29 points while being a -11 in 81 games. That's .36ppg for 6 million. The fact that the money handcuffed the team is undisputable. If he had 6 million in cap space to work with you would have to think JB gets Toffoli signed and maybe even Tanev... although I don't think that deal with Calgary will age well. This deal has to be the worst contract ever signed by the Canucks. I mean messier deal sucked but there was no salary cap back then so no harm in that... in fact it jump started a great rebuild. There is no other contract that comes close to this stinker and hopefully never will. The good news is it's over, time to move on.

I'd like to apologize to the other posters on here, I'm not usually confrontational. I got roped in and drug down a level, that really has no place here. Rest assured I'm out of the petty back and forth business. Only took 10 years on the board for me to use the ignore function but I feel better already.

[Signing] Flames re-sign Nikita Zadorov
coryberg replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Francis really dropped the ball on this one. He could have taken Zadorov in the ED and flipped him to Calgary for a 3rd but decided to pass. Instead he took pending UFA John Quinville and let him walk. Then of course there is the Washington pick. Took Vanecak and flipped him for a 2nd... could have taken Dillon and flipped him for 2 2nds. Amature hour in Seattle. -
