  1. Oh I know he won't be going to the AHL, that's why I never said he would. I think he has a lot of what it takes for a player his age to stick in the NHL. If he wants to stay there though he will have to earn it, luckily he is versatile enough to be given ample opportunity to earn his keep (unlike others).
  2. I am one those who believes that Gaunce will get some playing time this year and I don't hate Schroeder being put on the second line. The line shifting if this comes to pass however, will not push Hansen or Higgins to the fourth line. People may be forgetting about Torts and his willingness to reward workers with icetime. Higgins and Hansen are our two hardest workers and are ideal Torts players (hits, willingness to block shots, strong defensive play). Look for these guys to possibly move UP the lineup, not down.
  3. ^^^ Can't go wrong with The Raven. For some reason always makes me want to listen to Stairway to Heaven immediately afterward (except for today).

  5. Saniel, you are the wind beneath my wings.
  6. Going on vacation to the Okanagan Valley, Summerland and Peachland are about to get violated (please don't warn them).

North OK is safe (for now) and lol NHS.

  7. It seems as far as he is concerned, that this is the best way to get a head coaching job. To me, that means he won't be hired as an assistant for any NHL team, whether or not that is the right decision for his career, it's one he has consciously made. Sucks for us. Who else out there are possible candidates anyways?
  8. Blashill was the Red Wing's assistant coach under Babcock but decided to coach in the AHL because he believed that was the best route to take to become an NHL head coach. Scratch him from the list. http://www.freep.com/article/20130617/SPORTS05/306170031/Blashill-shy-about-taking-credit-Griffins-long-playoff-run
  9. New drinking game. Everytime Torts says "stiff" take a shot.
  10. What is with the sudden outbreak of South Park clips that have nothing to do with the thread they're posted in? I love SP as much as the next guy but what gives?

Thank you. I was wondering if it was a different branch of the fruit cult.......so to speak.

  11. My sister and niece came by for a visit so I decided to do the gentlemanly thing and allow them to choose a movie to watch. Big mistake. They rented Safe Haven which is basically an MTV version of Sleeping With The Enemy and is worth a solid 2/10 (should be 1/10 but having Julianne Hough and Cobie Smulders in the same movie is worth an additional point). I am glad to report that I survived the ordeal despite my several suicide attempts throughout the feature (if the remote had a sharper edge, I would have successfully committed hara-kiri). Please no more Nick Sparks movie adaptations, please.
  12. Already reviewed it here but I rewatched "The Guard" and have to review it again. 9.5/10 - All around great movie. I love the villains as much as I do the protagonist.
  13. That depends Baggins. Both Hamhuis and Edler were playing absolutely horrific hockey at the beginning of the season while Ballard and Tanev was our best tandem. Their ice-times were adjusted (by one minute of ice-time) but Edler and Hamhuis were still given too much ice-time that negatively impacted the outcomes of games. Both dmen personally lost us games when it wasn't necessary to ice them. Hamhuis eventually found his stride when paired with Garry but Edler never found his. If Ballard isn't bought out, I would be very interested to see how a fresh pair of eyes handles the above situation.
  14. I think winning is a luxury that is all the more special when a team earns it with hard work, courage, and tenacity. When we see the team bring it to the post-season, we will see a more competitive playoff team. It would also be nice to see Manny Malhotra and/or Trevor Linden get introduced to coaching in some capacity. We need their leadership.
  15. I am more elated at seeing AV's assistants go than I am at seeing AV himself go. AV made a lot of errors but he was IMO let down by his supporting staff more than anything. As for the doom and gloomers who are all upset over AV's firing, get over it and see that things will get better. Winning is NOT everything, watching a team play their heart out is. Taking that into consideration, last season was rock bottom and things can only get better. I don't care if we fail to make the playoffs next year as long as the team shows up to play. That's all that matters.
  16. Anyone know anything about Mark Reeds (that isn't from Wikipedia)?
  17. Makes me sad. Blasphemy that this show wasn't properly concluded. Silver Lining Playbook - was funnier than I thought it would be 7.5/10
  18. Ephedrine causes heart palpitations, go ahead if you want. Or if you wanted to save money, just drink an espresso before your workout, basically the same effect.
  19. I don't think you made a mistake at all, her explanation does little to quash the rumours, in fact she makes it sound like a group "event". Not to mention books made into films (or TV in this case) are hardly interpreted verbatim. No matter, she is a smokeshow on screen with or without clothes.
  20. I liked Into the Wild, reminded me of One Week. Pans' Labyrinth is a fantastic movie, probably makes my top ten list.
  21. I love to see Clutch is still capable of trolling CDC despite having crawled back underneath his rock years ago.
  22. Using advanded stats is never smart . Plugging in inaccurate numbers no matter how perfect the equation, will still provide an inaccurate solution. Hard stats (goals, assists, points) are about the only numbers worth noting, although even they aren't always accurate. Nothing beats watching to see how well a player plays his position to see how well he is playing. In this case: Ballard > Everyone. Garrison is not playing better than Ballard but he is hardly the heel most seem to think he is.
