  1. This brings a smile to my face to watch. The guy is electric out there. After seeing him with Cecconi I could see him pairing quite well with a big stay at home D-man who can make a good hard d to d pass. A guy like Gudbranson could flourish beside Hughes. I just hope he would be smart enough to leave the ego at the door and pass the puck to Hughes. Pairings I would be excited to see next year are: Edler - Stecher Juolevi - Tanev Hughes - Gudbranson Pouliot/Hutton/Del Zotto - Biega
  2. I think OJ is going to be a 25 minute per night D-man that plays against the league's tops players, complements an offensive defenceman, is a set up guy on the PP, and who is on the ice for more goals for than goals against. OJ is the type of guy that will get better and better with each passing year.
  3. Have you never made a mistake Alf? Cause we still trust you not to eat the cat
  4. If Tampa traded Cal Foote to us for anyone on our roster I would be pleasantly surprised. Doubtful, but dreamy.
  5. Man, given that he is gone, I was then hoping for Robert Thomas at 33 lol
  6. I'm not sure what the fascination is with defining what a rebuilding move is. From my perspective; if you trade Tanev, a top d-man, for a prospect and a 1st, then yes, that is a "rebuilding move". Maybe if you trade Tanev for Kane, that would be considered a "retooling move". All that aside, who knows if Tanev even moves. If he does move, who knows what player we even pick. All I know is that it's a semi beautiful day and I am jumping on the Goose for a ride to Sooke. Cheers, Alfie.
  7. I just don't see a new GM trading his best winger and top ten draft pick for a shutdown D-man. If anything I could see Tanev for Kane straight up. It is already clear we covet Kane. Just need them to covet Tanev too, imo.
  8. I don't think we need 3rd overall to find a top 5 talent. I think certain players will slip to the mid first due to various issues such as: Kostin - Injury Pettersson - Toughness Yamamoto - Size If we trade Tanev. I prefer we trade him for one of the three previous players, plus an additional solid prospect. Vs make a big trade with him for a top three pick. I especially don't think we need to trade a Tanev for a Makar because imo we have Subban and Stecher who will step up next year and become the PP puck moving defensemen that are so coveted by management.
  9. I want Cody Glass at #5. Trade Taney for a mid first and a prospect. Then draft Pettersson, Kostin, or Yamamoto with the mid first. That is my dream right now. Cody Glass is long term BPA at 5 imo.
  10. I read on here that Liljegren is off our radar. I guess now, for C picks I like Petersson. Dude has some high skills. I also really like Norris. Even more so now with combine showing he is a physical specimen. Getting him to develop in Michigan with Lockwood would be deadly imo.
  11. Personally I would stay away from Mittelstadt. I like him as a player. Honestly, he is fun to watch. But I have said it before and I say it again. If any kid would stay in college 4 years go to FA and stay in Minnesota. I think it be Casey.
  12. I believe that Liljegren is BPA for Canucks if available at 5. I like watching him play. He is excitingly tenacious and skilled. I also like that it hasn't been easy for him, the illness that is. I believe Liljegren could make the Canucks next year. He is pissed off and ready to prove himself imo.
  13. Honestly, this is my concern too. I watched 3 hours of shift by shift game tape of this guy and I see the same thing. A wicked shot from the top of the left circle. But when he doesn't have the puck, he does alot of floating around, he is super slow. That added onto the injury problems. In some of the interviews I have watched he just doesn't seem to be having fun and is taking things for granted. Seems entitled and lazy flowing off last seasons high and his family pedigree. I pass on Patrick.
  14. I really like Pettersson too. That is why i am so torn, because i really like Liljegren too. I think his down year is an anomaly due to illness and a slight depression which followed being sick and bouncing around. Those are really good points too. I like the dman Benning has snagged late like Tryamkin, Brisebois, and Neill. I think Liljegren would be a great partner for Juolevi though. I think they would be unreal together. That's why I'm so torn between a centre or Liljegren...
  15. I think we would get good value in the draft if we take the top dman with our first round pick. Then with our second rounder take a centre like: Joshua Norris Aleksi Heponiemi Robert Thomas I know the top centres have very high ceilings but so does the top dman. I think these centres could become efficient 2nd line playmakers with proper development. Is that a good idea our should be take top centre with our first rounder?
  16. I'm excited to see how well he does in the playoffs! I think he fills a need of ours long term and could be a beast partner for Juolevi to grow with.
  17. Could you post that leaked list by any chance? My only fear with Middlestadt is that he would stay in university and become a FA and sign with Minnesota. To me, he has already shown that he is a homer by returning to play in highschool. Im afraid that his priority would be to stay in minnesota long-term. Is that a crazy assumption?
  18. That's the type of D core i have always dreamt of. Skilled, fast, tough, and hard hitting. Intimidating in their prime of 5 years time.
  19. That Is precisely what would make it such a great pick! I think he would be the perfect long term D partner for Juolevi though and a pick like this excites me. I'm even okay if we do not draft Liljegren and instead we take Pettersson or Glass or Hischier such that our D looks like: Tryamkin - Stecher Juolevi - Rasanen Brisebois - Neill Hutton - Gudbranson
  20. Eemeli Rasanen with our 3rd rounder, could be a great pick. Guy is a Finnish RHD, 6´7´´ and 210lb. He Is putting up points in the OHL. Wears #77 and has a wicked hard shot. I can imagine our D lines now: Tryamkin - Liljegren Juolevi - Rasanen Brisebois - Stecher Hutton - Gudbranson? I like it. Kid looks lanky and uncoordinated right now but has good smarts. As he gets stronger and faster he should continue to develop. Plus I hear he Is tough and plays the body. Could be a good shut down Dman who can complement Juolevi with a hard shot and physicality.
  21. 4 centres in the 1 to 40 range that i like are: Nico Hischier Elias Pettersson Robert Thomas Joshua Norris I think all could end up being that 1/2 playmaking C that we are after.
  22. I like Pettersson too. Seems like a playmaking puck hound. I am excited for the combine to get some info on his size and athleticism. Everything that I have read on him says he is between 155 and 165 lb at 6'1" or 6'2". Which is quite small.
