@Warhippy fr the smartest person i’ve come across behind oldnews

Absolutely no point to firing Benning just to replace him with one of the few executives with a more dinosaur approach to the game. I don’t think I’ve met a single fan on any side of the fanbase who would prefer we fire Benning if it meant bringing Tallon in. Yikes to that rumor

@Nuxfanabroad I think it was screwed when they bust the deal, and spun the wheel.
-
I'm honestly surprised Alex Burrows still isn't playing in the NHL. I thought he was going to be Jagr 2.0.
Also surprised that the Canucks did in fact have cap issues. Unfortunate. Did not see that coming whatsoever. $35MM of 4th line/3rd pair/depth players/non roster players/cap penalties seemed like a great idea.
Very unfortunate.

Does anyone know where I can bid on the warm up jerseys?
-
Canucks have only given up 25 goals in the 11 games without Gudbranson.
Unsurprising. He was worse than our depth Utica defenders, and castaways like Luke Schenn lol.
Only bad thing about him being gone is that getting rid of his 4.0ga/60 ass is ruining the tank!
-
Pick up Marincin. Capable #6 DFD. Play Biega.
Waive Pouliot and Gudbranson. Trade Sutter.
If we do that, I genuinely believe barring major injury that they will make the playoffs.
Call up the Gaudfather.
Pouliot and Gudbranson are so awful, and now that they're played together - they've seen a significant lowering in ice time.
-
Pouliot &^@#ing sucks.

The kid has the confidence to think that he can make an impact right away, I think you trust the player, if they're unsure of themselves then yes send them back.
I think with the Sedins finally retired, the club is FINALLY going to allow every opportunity for the young guys to push for jobs. If he's not ready for NHL action, he can go to Utica and play in the AHL if absolutely necessary.
AHL is a way better developmental league than NCAA simply because they play significantly more games. Turning pro allows Hughes to get more time in the gym with the strength and conditioning coaches AND play high impact minutes.

Benning in year 1: Canucks will be competitive by year 4 or 5.
Benning in year 4: this is the best team we've had.
Canucks in year 4: On their way to their third straight bottom five finish.
And he gets an extension? The &^@#k?

@Type R There are standard injuries and then there are brutal injuries to your best players. Even Tampa Bay looks average when Stamkos is injured.
-
Crosby goes down, Malkin, Kessel and Co picks up some slack. Stamkos goes down, Kucherov and like 5 others pick up the scoring. The Canucks are a one line team, and it was woefully apparent without Hovat in the lineup. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of this team, but I'm not going to kid myself over this. Depth is sorely needed, and its coming soon up front. Horvat, Pettersen, Gaudette, Granlund, Gaunce, Gagner, and Sutter will all be able to play C and possibly all be available next year. The wing is starting to be bolstered, with Boeser, Baer, and a few coming from Junior (Dahlen etc) But look at our D, outside of Tanev, are any of these guys prepared to compete next year? Its an arguably soft d-core, even Gudbranson is looking soft compared to Archibald.
The team is about to get very young if Hank and Dank hang them up, and without some big moves (especially with the D), we may flounder a couple years. With the right trades, and terrific drafting, 2 years is possible, but the team as it stands today would be lucky to get through the first round.

Burrows is going to play into his 40's and never slow down.. Jagr style!
-
@debluvscanucks hey I thought we weren't supposed to have two accounts!

Benning sucks

@Alflivesis pretty much correct. If Benning had said "expect some pain" rather than "we want to try to remain competitive" hardly anyone would be upset. Actions speak louder than words, and Benning's actions tell me the Canucks are rebuilding. They just tried to dress it nicer than the Maple Leafs rebuild.
-
Canucks are absolutely terrible. Benning is terrible. Burrows is terrible.
-
Kassian for Prust lmao

Love how Linden talks about knowing this fanbase is knowledgeable and then says that their plan has been the same for three years. They have flip flopped and got things wrong and think that no one can see through it

Oh really? He isn't a BS artist? "We're going to continue to build this team to be a playoff contender every year" - Linden after we qualified for the playoffs in 2015. Benning after we were eliminated last season - "REALISTICALLY, if you're asking me when the day be that we can compete with the best teams in the league. This is year 2, and by our fourth or fifth year I hope we'll be there with the elite teams in the league"
Okay so where are we? 28th and 29th last finishes with trades that brought in players in their prime or young players just entering it to try and quickly retool to be competitive quickly while failing to trade players at the deadline last year
Keep drinking that good stuff
-
Philosophy change? Sure. Flip-flop? They've more or less always maintained (through their actions or whatnot) that their goal was to gradually build the team around a new group of core players while still being playoff competitive. Stupid idea? Perhaps, but nobody in management was under the illusion that they thought the team could seriously be cup-competitive unless you chose to construe their words that way.
Now they figure that their going to have to rebuild more painfully. It didn't happen as quickly as people wanted it to, but there's not much anyone can do about it now unless you think cleaning house entirely is going to make it happen faster.
-
I'd rather have Tom Sestito than Loui "Six Million" Eriksson
-
The Sedins are absolutely unreal
-
benning changes his mind every couple of months. i remember when he talked about teams in cap trouble and how he could take advantage of that, but didn't get teravainen/bickell and is now saying he wouldn't take on a contract like datsyuk's because they want to be competitive lol.
-
but can Bonino do it against the big teams of the west???
-
that three game winning streak in the end rekt us
no easy way out for this management group now. have to stop bleeding assets, follow in the steps of what the leafs have done the past two seasons to gather assets
-
keith should have gotten minimum 8 games tbh
