Not great when his contract his hard to move and you have a coach who will drive his value down even more. Also a super bad look for getting anyone else to agree to come here given Tocchet's known character issues.
You cannot drive OEL's value down more than it already is.
It is one of the five most untradeable deals. He is not an NHL player anymore. He has four years left after this.
If they can force out this roasted NHL player, good.

It was allegedly associated with organized crime; I do not consider that to be non-exploiting. While people are certainly allowed second chances, that second chance does not need to be in the form of a head coaching job of the Canucks. He also was enough of a scumbag in Arizona to drive OEL out of town; as we are stuck with OEL, would it not be a smarter move to hire a coach who can use him and isn't a proven failure as a coach and as a man?
Tocchet didn't do his time and got off with probation, which is far too soft a punishment. Bottom line is there is zero excuse for allowing this vermin anywhere near our dressing room. I absolutely won't stand idly by and allow Rutherford to disgrace the franchise by hiring this bottom feeding parasite.
No real disagreement with with the betting stuff.
However, I do think it is a potential bonus that Tocchet and OEL hate each other. A coach isn't going to change the fact that OEL has Danny Dekeyser's legs and looks disinterested every game. If they can drive him out of the organization, that's good.

I'd trust the average CDCer more than Rutherford at this point.
Saying something like this about Benning eight years ago, hell even three years ago would have been met with rage.
Glad to see views have shifted
Organization is not serious about winning a cup.

I don’t care we we rebuild or not, but take a hike with the pessimist hero I told you so nonsense. There’s plenty of quality players in this roster that I’m not going to apologize cheering for.
No idea why they’ve devolved into this mess but if they aren’t traded there’s 5-6 guys who will easily be top 20 Canucks points-wise in the next few seasons.
There’s some fabulous talent despite being a broken team.
I have no qualms about i told you so-ing.
Yall would refer to anyone who didn’t like the teams direction as pessimist non-fan trolls and here we are, in a worse position.

Canuck fans: Benning screwed us it will take years to fix what he did.
Same Canuck fans one year later: OMG why hasn’t Rutherford fixed this already.
There hasn’t been a single move of consequence that attempts to properly fix this mess.

Yall ran off anyone who didn’t like Jim Benning or the Torts canucks over the past decade.
Are there still any “keep pushing, team is too good for a rebuild” types left in this board?

I don't care about botchford's drug habits, but even though his intentions were good, opening the flood gates of legitimizing bloggers by campaigning for them to receive press credentials was the worst thing that's happened in the history of vancouver sports media.

He won't walk for nothing, negotiations will start before the trading deadline next season and if he won't sign then he'd be traded, no GM in his right mind would do otherwise.
Benning would let him walk for free, unquestionably. Then claim he ran out of time.
So, yes, some gms would do otherwise.- 1

Yeah, that makes perfect sense. I'm not crazy about Burke but the other two seem fine. Mellanby has always been a good dude in my books and I think he's level headed. No clue how that translates to a GM though lol. I like having a tough NHLer's opinion in the mix though. I think Allvin might get it and I have no problem with that. With Burke I can accept he has dealt with his past it's more the crazy goalie weird personality lone-wolf kind of vibe I get from him that throws me off a bit.
how are you not thrown off by the fact he beat his wife

@DazzleYou legitimately spent like a decade acting as if Jim Benning was a competent man no one can take you seriously lol

there's something funny about defending seven years of benning being a stupid mother&^@#er and then getting mad at demko for two average performances in front of a bad defense lol

What people think of Mason Raymond is one of the biggest indicators to me of if I should value their hockey opinion or not.
On top of the other obvious ones like what they think of Jim Benning and Erik Gudbranson.
