  1. Still don’t think Toronto loses this series without Tavares. I pick Montreal if they still have Julien. Hell I did earlier in the season.
  2. Does that mean Aquilini was a bad owner when he fired Gillis the day after the fans chanted fire gillis?
  3. i’m homerish and i can’t cheer for other canadian teams whatsoever. like i find the whole woo montreal thing weird but that’s just me. slightly less care with american teams but meh still odd imo i don’t really care who wins but i’m pretty hard on the colorado will win train so i guess i have a slight bias just because i want to be right lmao
  4. i actually don’t get the price thing like he’s so $&!# in the regular season and then the playoffs come around and he’s just unbeatable and tracks every single puck well? look at his stats since 2010-2011 ssn in the playoffs it’s just insane
  5. he doesn’t that’s totally false blake wheeler plays like a moron and never gets $&!# for it
  6. This is more accurate. The pandemic and their canucks related losses in franchise value/year over year give them the excuse to penny pinch and no one really complains because it's true that they are in the red and people aren't flocking to seats, but there is no question that these guys are stupid rich and their other holdings are doing insanely well.
  7. you've got to expand your search a bit. i know as a university student, i could get tickets through their university program in any section of the arena for $40-60 a piece. even as a non-uni student, upper bowl tickets are generally $50 a piece and there were still thousands of red seats or if you message people with ads on cl/facebook groups an hour or two before the game, you can get tickets for "cheap". i know in the family corporate business, it's hard to give away tickets to games sometimes while ten years ago, clients nonstopped asked for the pair we had lol
  8. I definitely agree that some of these non-media members feed off the little status that they've grown but that goes for anyone who's prominent on any platform really.
  9. they aren't - they have made and continue to make boat loads of money through their other holdings if you ask anyone ITK. It is true though that the Canucks have struggled for the past 7 years financially and maybe that's why they are penny pinching in hockey ops.
  10. at the time, they were 4th in the NHL in estimated franchise value they're now no longer a top 10 team in franchise value and they have actually dropped since 2014 lots of empty seats, and they struggle giving away tickets for pennies or free. can understand why there's a bit of penny pinching now vs why there wasn't 7 years ago - lack of team success and fan disinterest has affected their bottom line
  11. I can understand why people don't like Laleet, etc. even if I don't agree with it but I don't get the Taj hate. He just reposts quotes from other media members for the most part lol.
  12. War on drugs is stupid. Punishing hobbyist gun owners is stupid. Stricter background checks, evaluations, reporting of suspect prospective or current owners should be made easier. A former VPD chief telling people to not go to patios if they can see a gangster is probably the dumbest &^@#ing thing. VPD is so stupid. How do you expect random citizens to go and profile a patio? One of the dumbest quotes I've ever seen. VPD putting in so many resources into going after cars with a modified exhaust and having stupid low IQ officers like Cain who are not trained in automotive going out and giving nonstop inspections shows how ridiculous the allocation of funds is within the police force. Also, people who say $&!# like "libtards" and unironically "snowflake" are people you know are incapable of critical, objective thought.
  13. Weren't the clinical trials for AZ against the newer variants showing how ineffective it is? I got denied my poke on wednesday last week because I had covid within the last 3 months. Waiting an hour just to be told that was unexpected after not being told anywhere.
  14. Meddling owners and stupid GMs. Yep.
  15. He’s still ignoring after he lied lmao @Josepho
  16. You’re right. Myers was a +9 in 17 playoff games while Stecher was a -3 in 10 playoff games playing softer minutes. Wait a second, it was the other way around.
  17. For a majority of the season, the canucks were icing five D over the age of 30 (schmidt, benn, edler, myers, hamonic). Juolevi is bad. I'm very pro-rathbone but there is a certain level of redundancy with Hughes/Rathbone. I'm also pro-Woo. Myers is a $3MM defenseman making 6 and all our players play worse with him. That's why Green chose Stecher and Tanev over Myers for the matchup pairs and used Myers with Fantenberg in the playoffs. Benning inherited Edler (28) Tanev (25) + Hutton. The idea that all the canucks D in 2014 were over the hill but the 2021 D who were icing 5 guys over 30 aren't is a weird narrative.
  18. The average "value" of the defense and goaltending that Benning inherited was higher than what Benning is leaving the next GM. That's incredibly sad to say after a six year run that has seen us unintentionally tank to high draft picks repeatedly. Hughes is literally one of the worst players at preventing opponent offense in the entire league.
  19. The problem with this whole "HE'S A GOOD ENOUGH 4/5" thing is the same with Myers. If you have so many of them and you're paying them more than near league min, how do you actually improve the positions of consequence? Every defenseman plays worse with Myers which is why Green played him with Fantenberg in the playoffs last season and used Stecher with Edler. Hughes isn't good enough for top four matchup minutes. Probably needs to be sheltered against other teams bottom sixes at this point because he is literally one of the worst players at preventing opponent offense in the league. Really, the only guy we have who should be playing against other teams' good players is Schmidt. We need two more Schmidts, and one guy who is good enough to help Hughes hold his head above water 5 on 5. We just saw a full season of what Myers and Hamonic playing lots of minutes looks like, and it wasn't very good at all.
  20. He has no puck skills, in his 30s, and is a limited skater. This is a guy who shouldn't be signing for much more than what he's currently making - especially considering his preference to play in Western Canada. Also the kind of guy that if you re-sign him, he needs to be playing a bottom pairing role. He's not good enough for matchup minutes.
  21. 0-4 and 1-3 make no difference. Hopefully they win one of those games with an Edler, Gadjovich, and Lockwood goal each.
  22. That doesn't even factor in Eriksson, Baertschi, Spooner's buyout who were all so $&!# they couldn't even play games but cost us over $10m combined.
