The Habs fired the coach who had a bad streak of losing mini-games that have no significance come playoff time. The habs were very good during the first 60 minutes under Julien and have been worse since firing him - by a decent margin. I would have taken a Julien coached Habs over Toronto but the post-Julien habs are not good

2023-2024 would be 10 years. Benning said 4 or 5. -
There shouldn't be any criticism on Benning considering he was given essential worker status. However, what is ridiculous is terrible governing to give a hockey manager who can easily stay at home and work his job essential status. @debluvscanucks you should really read the long list you provided and compare it to the job of a general manager. The people on that list are undoubtedly essential - a hockey GM who can literally do every single portion of his job or delegate temporarily does not compare to the essential workers. The picture was weird though - no question. Edit: If you criticized Gaudette's wife for going grocery shopping after not leaving the country or being in any mandatory quarantine but think this is ok, that's hypocritical. (again, I don't think there's any issue with Benning doing something he was given permission to do)

The lack of sympathy from certain people to politicize victims coming forward shows a severe lack of empathy and critical thinking ability. If your first reaction to this is “Loony left SJWs at it again &^@# cancel culture”, you need to seek help. Imagine if your sibling, parent, kid, close other was the victim. It is obvious that CDC has a high contingent of a certain demographic though so the replies here relative to other places aren’t really surprising.

People like to pretend that Hughes is a #1 defenseman. He is a top five offensive D, but he’s literally one of the worst players at preventing opponent offense. -

Do you feel the same way about Oilers fans who bought a newspaper ad to remove Lowe or Sens fans who bought a billboard ad to remove Melnyk? Do you feel the same way about people who chanted “Fire Gillis” and paraded outside Rogers Arena with Gillis head on a stick? If you think these people are also not real fans, I’ll believe you are consistent. I still won’t agree that these people are not “real” fans. “Those people” want to win a cup. They disagree with the current path ownership and front office are taking them down and their seven years of previous work. -

If they aren’t fans, why would they have paid money to change course of the team they support? They want to win a cup just like every other fan. Fan elitism is weird. -

There would have been criticism regardless of timing. This isn’t a shot at the players commendable performances against all odds - this is a large section of the fanbase who want to win a cup and not pom pom for Benning. “Could have waited until the offseason to see what he does this year” ”Negative energy before the season is about to start” ”Season isn’t even close to being done let’s wait and see how it goes” ”We’ve had injuries and this is toxic behavior towards the team. This could have waited until after the season” And back through the loop. -

Does this apply to bad meddling owners like Eugene Melnyk, The Pegulas, Vivek Ranadive, James Dolan. I don’t mind when an owner wants to make sure his business is run well but they can’t be basically running the organization - specifically, the sports operation side. Ex: Cuban, Balmer, Dundon, MLSE. It’s been reported that the Aquilinis have grown in their involvement every year since 2012 and these are some of the poorest run years. Even if the drafting aspect has been better since 2012, there’s lots of smoke that they were big advocates for Virtanen as well.
