  1. Or maybe some COVID-19 tests, since they've been known to potentially give a false positive result, are picking up false positives when in reality the person getting test has the flu. That's another theory.
  2. So the entire context is those particles can still get through the mask if they're small enough. Studies have proven masks aren't going to protect you, but certain ones are more efficient than others. And once again, this is all in assumption that people are sneezing or coughing with their mask on. Sorry, haven't been seeing that.
  3. I'm sorry to hear that and I agree that we don't want that too happen. Hopefully the mask mandate works, we should see results soon.
  4. Yes, those "spit particles" can be extremely small. Check this out.
  5. We'll see if this is true since there was a massive increase in people wearing masks from the mandate. We should see a drop in cases very soon.
  6. I'm not the one wearing a mask everywhere I go, I'm not living in fear. The virus transmits from person to person contact, just like any other virus, it's not abundant in the air. What's your evidence that anti-maskers are killing people?
  7. Maybe, maybe not. There's no conclusive data on this. Anyway, the mask mandate is set to expire in the coming days, so I assume we should see a drop in cases soon?
  8. No I'll gladly respond, thanks though. The efficacy of all masks against different sizes of particles has been studied and I encourage you to read into them because they are very interesting. As I stated before, when wearing a surgical mask, 0.3-0.5 um particles are filtered at a 74-90% efficacy depending on whether the subject was talking, breathing, coughing, or sneezing. COVID-19 is somewhere in between 0.06-0.14 um in size. Logic suggests there may be some effect, but once again, 100 particles is all it takes. This is all in assumption that people are wearing their mask properly and 100% of the time. We must account for human error which is logically rampant. IMO these measures are doing nothing. Agree to disagree, let's just all try to get along.
  9. COVID duplicates in the body just like any other virus so yes as it multiplies and overloads your immune system you get sicker.
  10. Correction. 100 particles at a minimum. So essentially the same thing when the particles are 0.06-0.14 um in size.
  11. You are welcome to that viewpoint, but they have a different outlook on the situation. So I see this more as the government doing a poor job finding a solution that works for everyone, hence the protests.
  12. If that effect is 3% for example, they can conclude it has an effect. How much of an effect does it have when COVID-19 is 0.06-0.14 um in size? We can debate the semantics, but if there's still a chance you're spreading COVID, what's the point?
  13. Hopefully all questions are answered and now you can comment. If those tiny droplets that do not get caught in the mask still spread COVID-19, what was the point? Maybe there's a better way where a number of Canadians aren't feeling like their rights are infringed upon? Not a fan of the teams and division, regardless.
  14. Cough into your elbow at 50mph, potentially expelling 3000 droplets. I'm sure the elbow will absorb all of that, including the tiny bits of COVID-19.
  15. Do you breath more than once? Talk, cough, sneeze, etc. All it takes is one particle of COVID-19 to infect you. Reducing the amount of particles doesn't mean those particles that get through won't infect you.
  16. Yes, I read that part Deb. Do you feel something that is not effective against COVID-19 should be used by the public? Or should the government be recommending surgical masks? Since those are most effective.
  17. Love it. Thank you for the memories with the Canucks, Mark. "In all thy sons command" - Love that he sung the original.
  18. If you sneeze, it travels at an acceleration of 4.5 meters/second. That immediately travels beyond six feet. This source claims: A cough can travel as fast as 50 mph and expel almost 3,000 droplets in just one go. Sneezes win though—they can travel up to 100 mph and create upwards of 100,000 droplets. https://www.lung.org/blog/sneeze-versus-cough#:~:text=Sneezes win though—they can, create upwards of 100%2C000 droplets. Do you sneeze with your mask on? If so is it healthy to breath that of which your body expelled back in constantly. How many people are sneezing with their mask off? See my point? It makes no sense to assume these measures are going to work.
  19. That's fair, the government should be handling this differently so all Canadians can agree on a proper strategy. Like it or not, the protests could have been avoided. If the Trudeau government continues to push restrictions, they will only get bigger.
  20. Absolutely. I can't find the 'cloth mask efficacy against the flu' study atm but here's one studying the efficacy against COVID-19. https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/26/10/20-0948_article There are plenty out there and they're very interesting to dive into. Essentially they conclude some effect, but they are inferior.
  21. The problem is they're protesting the mandate which is within their rights. This is on the government to reorganize and apply a different approach.
  22. I could care less if you think it's misinformation, present an argument.
  23. when Covid hits your your fat a$$, when some non mask wearing fool sprays covid on you, I hope they find a box big enough for you "Empathy"
  24. "when Covid hits your your fat a$$, when some non mask wearing fool sprays covid on you, I hope they find a box big enough for you " Yeah we sure are standing up against those evil anti-maskers by wishing death upon a man who was beloved in Vancouver.
  25. Nope, I prefer a culture of open-discussion, free thought, free speech. Just basic human rights. I certainly wouldn't wish death upon someone because they had a different viewpoint than me.
