  1. I definitely need to see more of this guy, but I am happy we picked a goal scorer. Hopefully Benning acquires some 2nd round picks. There's still lots of talent available.
  2. The way he finds spots to snipe is impressive.
  3. You're right, he's too good for junior. The times I watched him play this season, every shift was effective. His balance, hitting, skating, and shot are ready for the big leagues. As long as he's not a defensive liability next season, he'll make the team. I don't doubt it one bit. On a side note, the doom and gloom in this thread is hilarious. Relax. Stats are not necessarily the be all end all of a players potential.
  4. I'm hoping this is the case. We got Miller for nothing, we may as well take advantage of that. Lack is ready to be our starter next season IMO. Plus Lack and Markstrom used to be a tandem in Sweden. Trade one of them once Demko is ready to backup. Makes more sense to stay young if we can. Miller will walk in a couple years anyway.
  5. I'm assuming one of Matthias, Richardson, or Kassian are back in? All in all, it's better to keep Sven playing instead of sitting him as a depth forward.
  6. Meh, stats don't tell the whole story. He's not an all around complete player (at least not yet), but he can still easily top out as a 1st line winger. Does that mean he needs more time in junior? Perhaps. But it's not to better his offensive skills. Those are definitely NHL ready. It would be more so centered around developing defensive awareness, and the mental side of his game. The thing with Virtanen is he's a shoot first player. He needs to be utilized accordingly. So since he specializes in finishing, he just needs the right line mates IMO.
  7. ^ He's got all the tools, he just needs to learn how to back check. I feel the closest comparison (offensive wise) is Iginla.
  8. Baertschi with another goal! Sounded beautiful
  9. You can expect a lot of scoring chances from him each game. Seriously, every time the Utica commentator mentions his name the play begins to develop into a shot on net.
  10. Nice bounce back by Markstrom Gets his 5th shutout of the season!
  11. Man he lit it up in junior! Great production in all the pro stats. I'd say if he keeps his pace this year and has a full season of training he's going to surprise many next season. Still can't believe we got him...
  12. Baertschi sounds like such a fun player to watch, I really want to see some highlights later
  13. http://radio.securenetsystems.net/v5/WKLLFM Edit: It's just audio
  14. Heads up the next game is tomorrow, don't go to the rink tonight I would say both guys are in the lineup.
  15. Wow. In that case we had all the leverage. Interesting to hear Calgary proposed the deal, I'm guessing he requested Vancouver. This is too cool Edit: Bennings the man.
  16. Wow this is much better than I expected! I feel like this is another one of those deals where Calgary has the depth and can afford to trade the guy. But damn, this is sort of like Boston giving up on Seguin. NOT saying he's like Seguin, just similar scenarios. If I'm Calgary I give him a 2-3 more years before jumping ship. Therefore, I think Benning has just stolen a slick prospect! Interested to find out who proposed the deal. Still though, we're retooling on the fly, Calgary is adding to their prospect pool. Win-win for both sides. I'm guessing he goes to Utica? Is he on the Flames roster?
  17. I was at the game tonight, man what a difference it is to see him live! He's so fast, his wrist shot has such a wicked release. On top of that I got to meet him!
  18. There's never a guarantee as it's up to the player to succeed, but it's his first pro season so I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet. I would LOVE to see him centering either the 3rd or 4th line down the road, like you said, he has the size and strength and he's good in his own end. We could have some serious two way center depth 5 years from now
  19. Ah I see, well that's exciting. Stoked to watch him tonight!
  20. I disagree I think Burr is best on the 1st unit just because he's been there many times before, can read the Sedins, and he knows how to cause havoc in front of the net, whereas Vey just parks in the slot (not necessarily a bad thing). That being said, I think if Kassian keeps progressing (crossing fingers), we might see him on the PP sooner than later. I didn't know Horvat got PP time! Was this last game?
  21. Tough call, of course I want to root for the home town boy. Although, I could see Fabbri putting up 30 goal seasons.
  22. The majority of all human beings are not very sharp at the age of 18. Also, I watched the interview and he handled it the way any hockey player should.
  23. If my memory serves me correctly, there was definitely at least one time, but that still doesn't take away from what you said. Still VERY impressive.
