  1. Virtanen is something special, I really hope we get him if we don't trade up
  2. Out of curiosity, can someone give me an example highlight of him creating a play out of nothing without using his speed?
  3. I thought Connolly was 180? Anyway I hear ya man, it's really hard to tell who will pan out after the top 5. I like Virtanen but I'm also a fan of most of the top 10 and I'm not going to be mad with whoever we pick. I'm just happy we have the pick we have.
  4. Fair point, I admit I never considered whether he had watched his play or not. That being said, some of the points he was making were not true at all.
  5. Lacks hockey IQ? - Look I haven't watched him play live or anything, but judging from the highlights I've seen, he definitely doesn't lack in that area. He'll set people up when you think he's going to shoot, he'll play the body to open up space, he'll accelerate up the ice if he feels he has a step on the defender, he'll fake like the Sedins one way and rush up the other way to fool the defender, etc. He's not double clutching, he has hockey IQ. It might not be amazing like the level that playmakers have but he has it. - Most of his goals don't come off the rush, most of them are snipes from the right areas and from areas you wouldn't expect. He's got a wicked accurate wrister. That being said he does score off the rush too, but what's wrong with that? - He's not "bulldozing through players" to score goals, he's a big power forward who can accelerate PAST them. If you look at the highlights the defenders can't even get back in time to try to stop him. - When you say "Bulldoze through smaller players", that couldn't be more wrong. Virtanen is 6'1 210lbs, while skating for the puck, he knocked over Lukas Sutter who is 6'0 214lbs (roughly the same size) and it's not like he wasn't expecting it, he was trying to battle with him. Here's another example, he was skating down the boards with the puck when 6'4 212lb Mason Geertsen tried to stand him up. Geertsen ended up on the ice and it hardly slowed Virtanen down, he kept his stride and all of his momentum after bulldozing someone his size. I don't think you realize how impressive that actually is. - Brett Connolly isn't that great of a comparison, maybe offensively in junior but they're not even close to the same size. Plus Virtanen is better in his own end and has a way better shot to just name a few things. - Lastly, just because Connolly was picked at 6th doesn't mean anything regarding Virtanen picked at 6th. So in summary I disagree with your post because most of your points regarding Virtanen are incorrect and misinformed.
  6. Exactly, I don't understand why people wouldn't pick him at 6 if none of the others are available, he's got so much potential. Sure he's younger so we have to wait a couple years, but I feel like he's going to explode offensively next season and prove why he's in discussion. Whichever team gets this guy will be happy for years IMO.
  7. Not just fined, suspendable IMO. There's a certain amount of mutual respect grown man should have for each other, especially in THIS case. Seriously Lucic, that was just pathetic, that was so cowardly I can't stop expressing my anger. What happened? You got hit and you didn't like it? This does not belong in the game. This sort of crap is why the Bruins have such a bad rep. They're a skilled team but they also do stupid sh*t like this. if this isn't looked at by the league, they're saying THIS is okay and there's definitely something wrong upstairs.
  8. I like Reinhart too but unless we trade for the first or second pick, we have no chance. I 100% agree that we need someone that has the potential to carry the team, and I believe both Draisitl and Bennett are obvious choices at this moment. Of course others could pan out as well, but considering the draft pick we have and the need to retool, we should make it our priority to get one of these beauties. As far as Virtanen goes, I believe he's going to be something special and if we have the opportunity we should definitely draft him, but only if the top 5 are unavailable. Edit: Ehlers looks good too, it'll be interesting to see how he pans out
  9. I really hope we trade up so we can draft either Bennett or Draisitl Those are game changers right there!
  10. Maybe some people will stop obsessing over the guy now
  11. If we can't pick one of the top 5, I'm 100% okay with picking Virtanen at 6, the kid looks very promising.
  12. Watch the Torts interview before you say you want him gone from a misconstrued TSN article. My god people.
  13. Great things to know! I wouldn't be mad if we picked him but I still have my doubts with how he will transition.
  14. You pretty much nailed it. I haven't really watched him a ton, but he seems like a bit of a floater. I don't think he would be super risky, but then again he is on bigger ice. Edit: From what I've read he's got all the skill in the world. But that doesn't necessarily mean anything if you aren't good in your own end i.e. Yakupov
  15. I'm assuming you mean't "don't like so much"? Nevertheless I changed my opinion, I think he's solid but I do worry about his defensive game. Initially l felt like we should continue building on the big fast talented forwards template we've got going, but at the same time we do need some projected top line talent and I think balance in the lineup is better overall than just one style. Edit: But I still think trading up should be our number one priority
  16. I can't see Buffalo trading their pick I could see Florida trading their pick for some proven roster players I could see Edmonton trading if they don't get Ekblad Islanders will probably keep their pick Flames will definitely keep their pick
  17. ^ I hope so, I'm not a big fan of Nylander
  18. Now we can destroy the Flames tonight Whewwwww!!!
  19. Seriously with 10 seconds left?!?!?! GAHHHHHHHH
