  1. We offered him a deal but guaranteed this is all about a NMC.
  2. All good. Sign a solid back up and transition to Demko.
  3. TSN is so stoked on Wayne Simmonds signing with the Leafs and then craps all over us for being unable to close an OEL deal and having major cap issues, apparently.

HOW ABOUT YOUR CAP ISSUES TORONTO???

Yeah... that's all on Armstrong. TSN just can't pass up an opportunity to crap on Van city.

      Bunch of jealous bitches.

Toronto Sports Network at its finest.

  4. We're done with talks after latest offer rejection, so no OEL trade for now as per TSN
  5. They're doing this to keep their RFA's. Tyler Johnson is a great pickup.
  6. I'm assuming we have many plan B's ready to go since it appears JB has been stalling until this moment. Let's see what happens.
  7. So the Canucks are planning to reach out to Pietrangelo tomorrow...

Trading for OEL will result in us taking on a 8.25mil/7 year contract.

If we take a run at Pietrangelo, he signs for around 9.5mil/7 year contract.

    Not far off.

I'm just saying, we have the cap space and he is a much better defenseman than OEL. He is the type of guy you want around Hughes, Juolevi, Rafferty, etc.

I personally would be willing to take the risk. If he leaves St. Louis, they're no longer a cup contender. He's that good.

    Hughes - Pietrangelo

    Edler - Rafferty

    Juolevi - Myers

I mean come on that's hard to turn down. Do we want Myers teaching Juolevi and Jurmo how to play in the NHL? Nothing against him but Edler is likely gone after next season and Myers is not a legit 1-2 dman. We need someone consistent.

    I say go for it.

  8. I think it's all about a long term deal with a NMC. He wants his final contract. We want to transition to Demko.
  9. Markstrom is likely gone tomorrow. I know this doesn't feel great now, but he is 30 years old and will inevitably decline. He probably wants a 7-8 year deal with NMC. Let's move on and get younger. Demko is ready to take the reins.

If he wants more than 5 years I'll drive him to the airport.

If he signs great but i really think Demko should have his shot

It just sucks to lose Marky for nothing.

hope oel trade happens in morning get it over with

  10. I would LOVE if we signed Khudobin, he's a great character guy, he would be perfect in the dressing room. I think it's a good fit.
  11. That's the other side of things too, if he wants 7+ x 8 years, he will get it in free agency, no way we pay that. Could be the same situation with Tanev and Marky. Try not to freak out guys. Could you imagine if JB signed him to a contract like that?
  12. This is all dependent on a potential OEL trade because taking on an 8+ mil contract determines a much different scenario than not trading for him. So I would say we see some action tomorrow. I'm a bit surprised nothing has been done yet but I'll reserve judgement until everything plays out.
  13. Nah it was a slight overpayment, he was a much better player at the time and did well for us in the beginning, then he faded.
  14. The only thing that makes sense to me is most of our pending UFA's are playing hardball and/or an OEL trade is close. I guess Benning is fine with letting these guys walk and signing replacements if need be. Hopefully everything becomes clear tomorrow. So far I'm not really disappointed, I liked the draft and we still have plenty of cap space.
  15. No problem with this. If Marky doesn't want to sign here at a reasonable term than it's all good. All we need is a veteran backup to help Demko become comfortable as a #1. I agree with others. A two year deal is perfect and solves the Seattle expansion issue.
  16. It goes to show how quickly a player's value can drop. Looking back on what we traded to acquire Gudbranson, it looks absolutely terrible now, but at the time it was a slight overpayment. At least we made up for it acquiring Pearson.
  17. All I ask is Arizona retain some salary or at least take Eriksson back there way.
