  1. Bloggers, TSN, and people who think that points tell the whole story.
  2. My only worry with London is that it's the very place where he picked up bad habits (playing at 80%, pace, etc.) that we're trying to get him to break. I'm hoping they have a deeper team to free him from playing so many minutes again. I'd like to think that they've found someone else to take every defensive zone draw.
  3. I don't think he's eligible since he's, well, a professional hockey player. I don't know the details to the eligibility but it wouldn't make much sense for a pro to be able to suit up for games against junior players. EDIT: Apparently there's a KHL player playing in the game tonight, although he's 19 years old. I guess it's just an age thing then.
  4. That was Virtanen's first goal since October 25th when he scored his 2 goals of the season so far. It's been a while for him so you know that feels pretty damn good for him right now. Hopefully he can get into a groove when he goes back to play WHL games.
  5. You can't take off half a year. If he plays 10 games and gets sent to London, that's 1 whole year off his ELC.
  6. The number literally followed him everywhere. He was drafted 9th in both the NHL and OHL drafts, for those who are unaware. I saw a feature on him in minor midget (prior to the OHL draft) and he had a practice jersey with the number... 9. COL - 8/12 SJ - 1/4 LA - 11/20 ANA - 6/8 ___________ Total = 26/44
  7. What he was able to do in that LA game was particularly remarkable. Not bad.
  8. Came out a little while ago now, but I just watched ParaNorman. 8.5/10 Cute little movie, and I was pleasantly surprised by the final act of the film. This movie was not what I was expecting it to be... and that turned out to be a good thing.
  9. That's pretty much it. He also got about 45 seconds of shorthanded time against LA as well. You always want the young guys to play more (especially when they aren't doing poorly) but this game was a little too close for that.
  10. To be fair, having one of the hardest, most accurate shots in the CHL is a purely defensive skill.
  11. Who are you to talk "sense" when you make bold statements like "wasted our highest draft pick..." well before either NHL career is started?
  12. What I don't understand is why you come here to Jake Virtanen Talk to tell us that over and over again. As if it is going to change anything.
  13. The tl;dr version: [insert any of DownUndaCanuck's previous posts in Jake Virtanen Talk]
  14. ☑ Coming off of rehabilitation for a major injury. ☑ Just 8 games back from rehab. ☑ Producing at 1.00 PPG (2-6-8). He may not be scoring goals as much as last year (through just 8 games) but he's still producing at the same PPG clip as last season. People were so worried about his "hockey IQ", but now his assists are out scoring his goals by a 3:1 margin and (surprise!) people are now worried about goals.
  15. I hope people aren't getting all-star teams and actually competitive rosters mixed up.
  16. He does play on the PK though, right? I would have thought he was at least somewhat responsible defensively. Or is he just there to exploit 1-3-1 powerplays using his speed? Gauthier is better suited to play the grinding-shutdown role on the 4th line. He's 6'4" which helps as well. On a side note, I noticed that Gauthier has only played in 4 games this year but isn't listed as injured on HockeyDB or EliteProspects. He only has 1 point (a goal) in those 4 games which is pretty underwhelming considering he is in his draft year +2 and the rest of the team has put up a boatload of points. The projected lineup is including players who are guaranteed to be available for the tournament. The note "Availability to be determined" is part of his article as well. If those players are able to join the WJ squad, you can be sure they will get a spot, which in turn means that someone on that lineup is bumped off.
  17. There was a game today apparently. Hitmen beat the Raiders 4-2. No points for Jake who was also -1, collected 2 PIMS, and had 3 SOG. Of note: His current streak of 5 games without a goal is longer than his longest goalless streak of last season (4 games). That sounds a lot worse than it is since he has 6 points in 7 games coming back from his shoulder rehab. And by the Hitmen's Twitter feed over the past few games, he has been able to generate chances. He's been robbed by some gloves and posts.
  18. Availability to be determined - Anthony Duclair (NHL - NY Rangers), Bo Horvat (NHL - Vancouver) Not available - Sam Bennett (Shoulder Injury)
  19. Bo Horvat's First NHL Game - All Access https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-m851xkWbLQ
  20. 18.9 goal pace in a 82-game schedule. Very doubtful he keeps it up but that's still a pretty number for a bottom-6 forward through 13 games.
  21. Not to mention the couple of kids in the 'Zoo (probably not what they call it there) who are playing well so far for the Wings. Allows Utica players to get called up to the NHL without really destroying the talent on their own roster.
  22. Came back to ask if anyone remembers that slick backhand pass Horvat made to Hansen(?). He was behind the net with an Avs player checking him and he flipped the puck back to the front of the net where one of Hansen or Dorsett got a stick on it. It was a sweet feed but I'm not sure anyone has video or a GIF of it.
  23. Horvat told Bonino that the puck missed him narrowly on its way to the net. Bonino was asked about the goal in a post-game interview with TSN1040.
  24. Congrats to Bo on a solid, solid start to his NHL career. Nothing flashy, no Bo-drags, but he played a simple and effective game while looking comfortable. Led the team in faceoff % and managed to get some shorthanded icetime late in the game.
