  1. https://soundcloud.com/team-radio-interviews/jake-virtanen-on-team-1040-afternoon-show-august-6 Well spoken kid. I enjoyed the part about how his family had pizza dinners for Canucks home openers. My family did the same (though it wasn't always pizza).
  2. On the topic of hits, but going off-topic from Bo for a minute, I found it slightly funny that Tommy Wingels had 218 hits in 77 games last season. I would have suspected home-arena bias but Logan Couture had just 16 hits in 65 games.
  3. I think the point Plum is making is about players playing in the bottom-6 (which is where Horvat would start).
  4. FWIW... Brandon Sutter had 69 hits in 81 games. Mike Richards had 73 hits in 82 games.
  5. Just because someone doesn't initiate contact (eg. make hits) doesn't mean he's not willing to play physically. In fact, if we can take scouts' words, we can say that he does actually play a physical game. Hits are a physical aspect of the game, obviously, but it's just one way a player can use his body.
  6. You make it sound like Horvat stays away from contact when his own coach nicknamed him "Ox" for being as "strong as an Ox". How do you display any amount of strength without being physical? For what it's worth Hockey's Future's has this to say about him in their scouting report: And Corey Pronman had this to say prior to the 2013 draft:
  7. Just watched the game and took some notes. It's mostly Bo-talk so I'm posting it here. EDIT: Removed the last bit about the other players. Might as well keep this all about our own guy. Will post the other stuff in the WJC thread.
  8. Any mention of what the cause is? Not knowing what the root of it is, I'm worried it could become a volatile situation for Bo if he returns. Wasn't everyone sick/injured at the Memorial Cup? I think I heard somewhere on here that Bo was ill. Or was that during the OHL playoffs? I forget...
  9. Hmm. I'd never heard that before. Is there a legitimate source?
  10. The finalists for the Knights' captaincy last year came down to either Horvat or Tierney. Ultimately, Tierney got the C and Horvat got an A. As Tierney is now able to join the AHL this coming season, I think it's natural to assume Horvat could/would take the role of captain should he return.
  11. I don't think anybody here is saying that Horvat was playing flashy game against Russia. He had (admittedly) a few memorable shifts and we're just pointing them out.
  12. Rewatched the Nastasiuk goal (watch from 2:07:38) and Horvat doesn't even touch the puck on the play preceding the goal. Phantom assist haha.
  13. For those who were unable to watch it live, you can still see the game in its entirety. http://stats.hockeycanada.ca/game/show/7838018?subseason=165586&referrer=1253933&referrer=1253933 Also, it looks like Bo got an assist on the Nastasiuk goal. I need to go back and watch but I'm pretty sure it was a second assist. That gives him 1G-1A-2PTS on the night.
  14. 5-2 for Canada over Russia. Game again tomorrow. Based of just this game? No. But to be fair it's a friendly being played well before hockey season starts for anybody. Also, he was really being utilized in a shutdown role. Lots of d-zone draws.
  15. I wouldn't say he's looked "really" good but he has looked good for sure. He's hitting every single chance he gets. He, McDavid, and Fabbri have looked great as a line.

  17. Sounds off but it has been a pretty subpar game by the team as a whole so far.
  18. Best line by far has been the McDavid line. Creating lots offensively. Are you watching on Hockey Canada's site?
  19. He pulled a pretty nice move to get behind the Russian D and get a shot off for a scoring chance. Hopefully the Canucks prospect guy uploads it to YouTube.
  20. The question was whether or not these guys ever see this kind of stuff and I'd imagine they do at least see or hear about it from someone. I'm not saying these guys actively visit online forums to see what people think of them.
  21. I would be surprised if they didn't.
  22. I'm a little curious now, who was the last top 10 pick to start a career on the 4th line? As for the last point, I was replying to your comment that it "makes 0 sense" to shelter someone's minutes and play them around 15 minutes per game. My comment wasn't about Horvat in particular. I'm just saying that it certainly worked for someone else.
