I never asked about Richardson or Matthias. Is Zac Dalpe playing 5 minutes that much of an upgrade over Jordan Schroeder playing 5 minutes and as a possible PP option? "Well, he's bigger"? Bigger isn't necessarily better, and this isn't the Boston Bruins we're facing tonight either. If the "whole point" (your words) is to make the playoffs and contend for the Cup, why didn't we go out and trade for a Vanek, Moulson, etc by offering up 1st round picks and top prospects? Those guys definitely would help this team with a playoff push. Judging from my replies it seems people are misunderstanding me. I've said nothing about tanking. I will root for my favourite team to win tonight, but I feel that adding to our (finally) growing prospect pool is the safer and better option for this team going forward. I'm not ruling anything out here. Maybe we'll make the playoffs. Maybe we'll even win the freakin' Stanley Cup. Unfortunately, the odds of that happening are so low at this point that I would RATHER procure a top-10. Then use said pick to draft someone who has a better chance at helping us in the future than us making the playoffs right now.

With regards to the game this afternoon, I'm pretty disappointed that Schroeder is supposedly a healthy scratch tonight. This is his home state and I'm sure he is/was going to have friends and family at the game. Is Zac Dalpe and his 5 minutes a game that much better than Schroeder that he would scratch JS tonight? I don't get it. I'd rather continue to restock our prospect pool with quality talent than squeak into the playoffs, get manhandled, and get stuck with a mid-1st rnd pick in a relatively weak draft. Why not trade Kesler for youth+picks AND grab a player like Virtanen? I don't understand how making the playoffs just for the sake of making the playoffs is good for this team moving forward.

London is already in the Memorial Cup. They're hosting it. Cheer for Erie I guess. ... Wait. What happens if the team that is hosting it also wins its league championship? How would they decide who the 4th team is?

Are you @pnagy73? I've seen you(?) reply to a couple of my follows in the past.

Oh, I wasn't aware GZ was a short-length game. Thanks for the clarification.

Sorry if this has been answered but why is Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes so cheap? Ebgames.ca has the game at $34.99 NEW. Not complaining or anything but in contrast to the other PS4 games... it's really cheap. http://www.ebgames.ca/playstation-4/games/metal-gear-solid-v-ground-zeroes/318307

Jensen continues to impress me. ... And so does Shawn Matthias. Hansen has been a no-show basically all year so a HIG-MAT-SAN (if we sign Santorelli) would be one of the best 3rd lines in the league. These 3 guys are all hustle! At least I hope this is who Matthias really is. So what exactly is Jensen right... now? -
It's almost as though players on a professional sports team have any pride. It's almost as though there are players on professional sports teams that need to perform well for jobs. Almost though...

Alright, thanks for the clarification. EDIT: Looking at the overall standings, what I read was probably that "realistically" the highest we could get is 6th overall. At this rate, Nashville and Carolina have decent shots at passing us in the league standings.
-
I thought I read somewhere that the best we can do is 6th overall. I guess we could win the lottery...
-
You're right. Kassian (if he counts), Jensen... aaand that's about it. I don't know how credible Craig Button is as a scout but he has Jake Virtanen ranked 41st overall (up 6 spots from his last ranking) amongst all eligible players.
-
Yeah, I was just about to mention this. I remember seeing HockeyDB list him at 5'11" but I went and checked the Calgary Hitmen's roster page and he's listed at 6 foot 1, 210 lbs. Clearly Virtanen has physically matured in the past year or so. That's real good NHL size so you probably don't want him growing a whole lot more than that. I dunno. If he's available when we make our pick, I'd like to see us take the local kid.

Is that the first time GMMG has mentioned his name all season!?
-
I'd say that's reasonable as a "ceiling". That's pretty much what Patrice Bergeron is for the Boston Bruins. For the Nichushkin fans out there the point projections may be discouraging, but we can still get a terrific centre if Bo pans out as a Bergeron 2.0. For anyone curious these are Bergeron's stats from his rookie season (as an 18 year old): 71GP | 16G | 23A | 39PTS | 22PIM | +5 Solid numbers for a rookie, I'd say. I'd think most reasonable people would be happy if Bo hits 15 goals in his rookie season.
-
tl;dr ... but according to the comments the author hasn't even watched many (or any) games. That's just sad.
-
Am I reading this right? 4 minutes into the 3rd and a TOTAL of 15 shots in the game. 12 by London, 3 by Owen Sound.
-
You seem to really like the Rupert brothers. Do you have any NHLers you can compare them to? Ontario boy doesn't want to sign with the Leafs (yet?). I'm assuming he has at least got a contract offer from the Leafs so it makes you wonder...

[Trade] Canucks Trade Luongo to the Panthers
Canucks1219 replied to Alex the Great's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Congrats to Lu and his family. Very happy for him. -
Congrats to Bo for hitting 70-points (in 50GP)!

Kesler doesn't have Bobby Ryan's pure-offensive ability but is probably "better" in the sense that he is a MUCH more complete player. Playing center is a plus. Another bonus for the Canucks (if they trade Kesler) is that Kesler has a pretty attractive contract (2 more full years at $5 mil). The downside is that Kesler tends to get injured often and is a risk that takers are going to have to, well, take.

The fact that we would need to pick the "hot hand" (coming off a loss) to face the Ottawa Senators is hilariously sad. -
