Canucks 2nd rounder 36th overall

please do NOT put the failures of U of Minn on White and Matson. Schroeder was so-so for them. Btw...Hudson Fasching would look great in a Canucks uniform For some reason9n, I put Glover and Dougherty not far off of Fluery and in the pack of Honka and McKeowan. Dougherty is set to go to U of Wisconsin. -

Lets not forget our d corps need a little depth as well Jack Glover Jack Dougherty Come to mind and are ranked in the 30's. I prefer Glover jist on size and an overall broader set of skills but I would be happy with either. Both are also rh. -

Looking ahead and taking a "leave no stone unturned" approach. Alex Tuch and Sonny Milano have been playing together for the past 2 years. Both are due to play for Boston College and both are the best of friends. I can see Milano as a Pavelski/Parise type and Tuch is arguably in the same breath as Virtanen and Ritchie. Funny to think if we somehow hot Anaheims pick that we wouldnt draft these 2. Both are going to be 1st liners and both will have amazing chemistry playing with each other for the next 3-4 years. Just a few thoughts....thats all -

Just Doodling around on EliteProspects to see which colleges the kids from USNTDP are enrolled in Alex Tuch-Bostin College Jack Dougherty-U of Wisconsin(Labate's school) Jack Glover-U of Minnesota would love to get either of those 2 with our 2nd....leaning more towards Glover Dylan Larkin-U of Michigan Sonny Milano-Boston College 2015 Jack Eichel- Boston University -

Odd how a guy like Alex Tuch doesnt get any ink about his capabilities. He is slated to go to Boston College this fall. If/When Kevin Hayes bails on Chicago, I wonder if this changes the mindset when teams select college bound players in the 1st round? -

it was only a comparison. If I were to use Marty St. Louis as a comparison you and everyone would think im off of my rocker. I used Brown and Perry as comparisons due to the fact that Virtanen has size and a few similarities. As for Hodgsons +/- you bring an excellent point but for someone to call a guy one dimensional and not great defensively while sporting a great stat is hard to not get defensive for the kid. If Trev has elluded to the fact that we are drafting one of the big wingers then we can start ruling out the Euros and start rallying behind one of the big dudes. Who knows....this could also be Trev being coy just to tip his hand. -

Loved Virtanens 2nd goal of the game.....instead of becoming involved in the typical passing clinic....he took it upon himself to wire it.... -
I would be ok with Sauve being cut or packaged in a lesser deal much like Kellen Munchkin and mid pic for Dalpe and Welsh I just pray that Hutton doesnt leave us standing at the altar like recent graduates have to their respective teams

Virtanen has been a +25 in his 2 seasons.....can hardly call him a defensive liability -

well Dustin Brown has avg 20+ goals since he came into the league. Another comparison to Virtanen I see is Perry....that guy skates thru us and everyone whilst protecting the puck whilst driving it to the net. -

ya but that Dustin Brown guy sure hammers the snot out of us whilst scoring timely goals.....who on the Canucks is doing that? Virtanen isnt the biggest player. Roughly the same size as Brown but both play much bigger than they are. Burrows looked like a shadow of his former self this year, even with the twins but everyone crapped the bed this year and Im hoping Burr and Daniel can both bounce back. If not them we have serious problems. Kassian looked lost in his cameo appearances on that line but Im intrigued to see what he is like now that he has seemingly found his spark. Jensen looked uncomfortable being Torts' whipping boy but IMO he looked awesome in his stint with Burr and Hank. Hopefully that changes for the better in the fall as well. Those are 2 HUGE key points for me next year. -

you make a crap load of great points. Drafting a guy to play with Sedins and one to play with Kesler are 2 different players. Sedins need a finisher to set up in the slot (much like Bertuzzi, Carter, Burrows etc). Virtanen fits that bill, but who knows...by the time Jake is ready, The twins could be done by then -

VERY crucial. So many facets hinge on it IMO. Sure we can't trade Kesler to Wpg for Kane but if we trade Kesler to somewhere like Pitts or Anaheim, we can use THOSE assets to send to Wpg or replace the assets we send. Soooo many options open up -

If Draisaitl falls to us I will HUG my tv but Im assuming he doesnt, nor does Dal Colle. I assume our downfall to be that all of our core players that went to war with the likes of LA and Chicago et others are hurtin and need replenishing. 3 years ago our team had a swagger and could out finesse teams due to speed and talent. Virtanen is a guy that brings the puck to the net and instead of turning into a deer in Headlights(ala Raymond) he bangs the puck in. Goes to the greasy areas, hits like a tank and drops the gloves. Ritchie does the same Both are what this team needs for a re-tool. Booth is working out soooo well that he is about to be bought out.....right? There goes THAT big body. Grenier couldnt get a sniff when we had the injuries we did. -

I like Bennett but IMO we have enough centers (Horvat, Cassels, Gaunce). If Bennett slips to us and guys like Ritchie or Virtanen are still available....this is where we trade down and pick up a few more picks, etc.... Im banking on Calgary to grab Draisaitl or Dal Colle. Both would compliment Monahan very well. Or Burke could try to bully his way to Reinhart. -

well I and most every other scout and newspaper and media type ALL have us picking one of the power forwards.....NOT Ehlers or Nylander or Kapanen. THAT stat alone tells us something..... The sooner ppl start to wrap their heads around it...the better. We have 2-3 big dudes who all have size, skill and many other intangibles. Ya, some say we have those guys already but other than Kassian...WHO do we have? Have a RH RW in Virtanen who loves to bowl thru ppl at only 17yrs of age and loves to shoot and score is what we been screaming for to compliment the twins....Nahhhh, what do we want that for? -

Drafting either Ritchie or Virtanen is good enough for me. According to some here....all of those skills just listed above are going to evaporate and he will never develop into an NHL player. Usually the same guys that have wood for Kapanen nd Ehlers. Come draft day....selecting Kapanen/Ehlers we will not....Bank on it.
