  1. For the longest time I keep hearing what a weak draft year this is going to be. For the past few months since it became a smelly reality that we are going to be picking high, suddenly Im getting the sense that this draft is alot better than anticipated the top 5 of Reinhart Ekblad Bennet Draisaitl Dal Colle seem to all be set, we would all go gaga by picking any one of them after that there are names like Perlini Virtanen Ritchie Fluery Nylander Ehlers McCann Kapanen Have been debated to the nth degree. Im sure we can all agree that we ALSO be just as happy with any of them after that is the next tier of skaters including a few from the USNTDP in Milano Tuch Larkin Im sure they too will all work out nicely after that things start to drop off Bottom line is that Im confident that whoever we do pick will be a beauty for sure.
  2. Well with Carolina winning tonite, we now sit 9th. Calgary won and are now 8 points away. they play Florida tomorrow nite and should win that, bumping them to within 6 points. Ottawa plays Montreal Nashville plays Anaheim, but I dont see much hope for The Preds on that one Would be nice if NJ can beat Wash in a 3 point game.
  3. Calgary is up 2-0 on TB if they win, puts them 8 points behind us with very winnable games ahead Carolina is up on Dallas. If they win, puts them even with us not sure who the tie breaker goes to either way....pegs start falling into place
  4. well I think the new Dane is making a case to push the old Dane out the door already
  5. Eric Cornel is another to keep an eye on. RW for Petes with terrific size and skill in only his 2nd year. Demko is playing lights out in only his freshman year at BC. Being the top ranked goalie, I see him getting picked in the 1st
  6. I think if Stanton or Sauve are included, MacT gets duct taped to a swivel chair as Lowe and Katz punch his face till their knuckles bleed
  7. Dont look now but NYI are 7 points back with Wsh, Ott, Mtl, NJ, and Buf Calgary has TB, Fla, NJ, LA, Wpg, Us Dare to dream that NYI & Cal have a few winnable games ahead
  8. Jones had a big lock until Memorial Cup came along and MacKinnon blew the doors off Jones thus widening Sakic's eyes...." Ummmm, Hey Patrick...." Lemieux is different in that he is scouted to have every attribute his dad had, has terrific numbers in only his 2nd year of junior, and could be developed into close to what his dad was. As far as players carrying famous last names....I am finding its "the little brother" of famous players that always fell by the wayside. The kids always fared quite well. Gretzky, Lindros, Kariya, Bure, Hossa all had little brothers that just never came close to the bars set by their brothers All with the exception to the Sutters of course Guys like Rychel, Cassels, Lemieux are going to be fine. They have had the best mentors, the best training and all seem driven to uphold their family names. Heck, even as far back as Mark Howe. If Gillis snags a late round pick, I seriously hope he takes Lemieux with it.
  9. Ryan Walter is clasping his hsnds that he will finally have a total of 4 sellouts next year
  10. No way does he get past Colorado in the first round. Lemieux-MacKinnon-O'Reilly nice future line Nowww...if we can manage to get a pick just before Colorado, could dangle it to them. Either way, Lemieux is going to be THAT gem of the draft. ..mark my words
  11. well not playing until saturday helps a few teams leap frog us in the standings. Winnipeg plays Pitts and they should/could win that. Carolina plsys NYI snd that too should be winnable. playing La, Col, and Anaheim will help us stay where we are and could be in 6th. I just get scared that the boys go out and thump the Coilers and Flamers and boost us back to picking 10th.
  12. he has been alot shinier than Pirlini, poppin in clutch goals. Gotta think it moves him up a peg or 3 in the draft positions. Lets see how he fares against Oshawa
  13. ya I think you are right. Same thing happened to us after LA dispatched us and we ended up picking where we got Gaunce
  14. As the OP, I never suggested trading, buying out OR keeping him. I simply posted something that was newsworthy and created a topic for discussion. My only knocks on him are that I think he is a turnstile and keeps beaning the organ player with his lethal slapshot.
  15. I would be surprised if he gets past Colorado. Roy would be all over him Whom ever we pick at 6th, Im sure I would be happy with. Dal Colle, Perlini, Ritchie and Draisaitl all seem like safe picks. Someone mentioned that hopefully Anaheim gets bounced in first round in hopes that it will be a really high pick. Well Im sure if thats the case then they wont deal BOTH picks. It will be one or the other
  16. no way does Murray deal Bonino...from blogs and pressers, Murray pretty much hung the phone up when Bonino's name came up. Etem+2-1sts would be sufficient enough for me Virtanen with Ott's 6th Tuch with our 11th either Demko or Lemieux with Ana's pick
  17. Well looking at hindsight, sure woulda been good to pick that goaltender that kicked our ass lastnite Frederik Andersson. ..picked in 3rd round that year
  18. yes, but who WILL that player be? Of Keslers short list of teams he is willing to report to, WHO is the target center Gillis wants back and WILL the respected GM of that team Meet the demand? Hopefully the list gets expanded by the draft or in the summer, but at this point Im content3d with Gillis getting the best player available regardless of position and whatever else comes in the package(if there IS a package)
  19. As per Tony G wondering since Booth has been playing great and showing he actually IS a hockey player and might be worth just playing out the final year of his contract Garrison on the other hand..... Surely Gillis walks the plank if Garrison is bought out. That being said I dont think Aqualini coughs up the dough for such a move. Maybe a move to bring in Brian Campbell whom Garrison had earlier success with. Thoughts?
  20. wow...did someone crap in your coffee today? I accidently spell a guys name wrong and BAMMM, you're all over it....cough cough douche cough. and to suggest that the USHL doesnt produce great hockey players is pure ignorance. Where do you think 80% of US Olympic team cut their teeth? Im sure you would welcome any one of THEM on the Canucks. Look....I made a suggestion as to who to draft. Im sure whoever we DO draft is likely going to wait a few years anyway
  21. First off, I never stated that Tuck is "better than the 3 right now". I stated that in time he WILL be better than the 3. As for you analogy of NTDP....Im sure we both know the list of successful players to come out of that team. I see USHL as to what the BCHL is, although I tend to hold the later in a higher regard. You make a point that we have Jensen, Kassian and Grenier on the right side. Also Hansen is still there. For the left side we also have Shinkaruk, Fox along with Daniel signed for 4 years along with Higgins signed for another few years. Also lets not forget Burrows and with Booth suddenly being of use playing with Kassian, I dont see Booth getting bought out. Henrik, Kesler(if he isnt traded) along with Mathias to go with Gaunce and Horvat make up our centers we are finally starting to get depth in our prospect pool and this is great. They wont need to be rushed. 3-4 years and Tuck should be just in time for his rookie year. By then hopefully all developed and ready to go. I believe any player we draft wont be ready for atleast 3 years.....
  22. Grenier...lol Considering is Tuck goes the NCAA route...we wont see him for another 4 years anyway. I think in time he will be much better than all you just named
  23. And lets not forget about RHS RW, 6'5" 215lbs Of Tuch. We need to address our stock of right handers on the rw
  24. Have you ever been to a frat party on the Shores in Corpus Cristi? Lol
