  1. Fair point Thing is though, if the only thing being offered are scrubs or other teams left overs, you don't do it... Doesn't matter who deserved what. You don't give up Miller, Garland or whoever for other teams left overs. If that is all they offer, you keep you players and take stock... Same for everyone... I won't mind anyone getting traded, and the defeat to Wings made me change my mind. But the trades have to make us better, eventually, so unless it represents good youngsters ready, or just about ready to enter the show, you stand pat, and wait until summer.
  2. Looks like Bruce is loading up on the 3 main lines.... Make or break
  3. True... think most of us would, but not with one of the ugly sisters... It has to make sense for us, and so far that doesn't seem to be the case... Don't want to make trade just to make a trade... At worst Miller stay in VCR another year and get dealt at that TDL next year, unless we are on a cinderella run... Still nearly 3 days to go. Plenty of time....
  4. I'm on this picture up in the rigging... Its taken in Monaco before Crossing the Atlantic to the Caribbean's Yeah good times... And as for fishing, on the odd occasion its trout in a put and take with the grandsons and its nowhere near as exciting except for my young grandsons..
  5. Can't compare the two deal much... LE was playing 2nd line and 3 Line minutes without much production. OEL is our top D-man atm... But yes this is exactly the dilemma... If we sign Miller longterm, and have to give EP and Bo raises as well, it leaves very little to play with, trying to improve the team...Brock won't be enough.
  6. Yeah wouldn't mind a Tequila sunrise, while waiting for a fish to bite... Was on a Tall ship for 5 months once many many many moons ago as a young loon... Spent a week on the Virgin Islands and another week in Antigua... Beautiful places. Got a local taxi driver, to take us to the most beautiful beach at the foot of a mountain... Dark rum and coke... Life was good. Back to the present again... I don't doubt that management feels the same about standing pat until the off season (Maybe Motte will be dealt, because of his up coming UFA), unless an offer blows them out of the water. Have a feeling they have been telling possible suitors, that its gonna cost them, to get any of our best players...
  7. I would have loved to make a run with Miller stirring the drinks, but think our realistic window will be 2-3 years from now... I don't see how we can afford Miller, Bo, EP extensions, while also improving our D core.... (dumping Bo will also be felt...) It's a dilemma of huge proportions. And it will likely make or break this franchise for the next half a decade. Glad I'm on the sidelines, cause which ever route Alwyn chooses will have haters lined up with long knives, should it go pear shaped....
  8. Its like sailing race, when your boat has a torn sail... Unfair and borderline ridiculous... Just like Sharks weaselling themselves out of the Kane contract...NHL at its finest.
  9. On a side note... why are folks so desperate to play QH with anyone else than Schenn? They've been really good together, and Myers roaming the offensive zone together with QH is recipe for disaster... If anything, trade for a faster 'Schenn type' shutdown RHD to play with Hughes or get one via FA...
  10. Absolutely... The only issue, if we are sellers, are having someone willing to dance, that makes it worth while... But yes, I am sure the GM has his plan laid out....
  11. Exactly Goose... That was probably the one thing that surprised me with Benning. He came from the Bruins organisation, and after we were manhandled 2011, I wanted us to be able to stand up physically... But that never really seemed to materialise... a few players here and there, but not really as a team. I also hope for a few speedy forwards with size, that would go through brick walls... some nastiness would be very welcome...
  12. That would be very nice... Love Motte, but we fighting over crumbs to make the numbers add up... so yes by all means, that would make sense...
  13. So spot on it hurts.... BIG MEAN D-MAN needed... and Big fast forwards that'll staple the oppositions to the boards would be very welcome too throughout our line up.
  14. Cheers amigo... If so I stand corrected Regardless the biggest mistake was not to ship out JV... I was supporting him, but he blew it...
  15. Not quite the same Timrå... Benning wanted all his new comers to taste play off hockey, both for the players, but also to test them to see, what he had... It made a lot of sense to do, and a few things didn't go to plan, but not true he lost all of these players because of it... Prior to the play offs, most folks wanted to trade Demko, as he was unknown quantity, but play offs showed he was able to take over... He would not have given us much in a trade, and most likely been snapped up by Seattle... Toffoli was left to last and he did not want to wait... only brought in because Brock got injured... was not in Benning plans to start with. Tanev.... 6000 pages of should he stay or should he go... you know, why Benning let Tanev go, but because of your dislike towards him, you try to spin it... Tanev barely had a season with Canucks a more that 60 games, as he always ended up with some injury. That was the reason Benning signed another D-man and let Tanev walk... That he suddenly became iron man, nobody could have foreseen, although as other have said, Green way of them collapsing and throw them selves in front of anything, didn't help... Now we are talking about building around Petey, QH and Demko... I was hoping they could continue the fine play they have shown under Bruce, but tbh reality kind of set in last night... While playing well, a better team would probably have score 3-4 more against us yesterday... out scoring the opposition is great until the gunpowder gets wet... We need a better defence, and that will likely only happen if we have something of value to trade... rock used to be that, but he will not pull a star with the form as well as contract extension looming... But he will give us some flexibility, and maybe a 3 line C? So Miller it is...provided they can get a good deal, great deal set up for him... Don't want to see him leave for nowt, and with the contract he is likely to look for, there will be nothing left to upgrade other parts of the team... Brock going will be because he just doesn't bring enough, unless he is scoring, which he is not now... Love Brock, but of all the stars we have, whom we can trade for either upgrades or flexibility, he brings the least bang for buck. Sorry for the long rant, but I was told to go and play fantasy hockey, because I didn't spell it out so he could understand... So this should be long enough...
  16. Grow up... What are you like 18 or what? Did I say they should trade them all? If they get rid of Miller, they may as well get rid of Brock, and a few more cause that would be a massive retool... Explain to me, in all your wisdom, which players that isn't in play...if the right deal is available? And what experience do you have, to tell me, what to do...
  17. Been on the fence regarding Miller being traded, but after sleeping on it, I'm also done... If they make the playoffs great, but this team will not win anything... Too many flash passengers... If a good deal is available trade Miller. And if they can get anything for Brock, his golden locks should be flowing somewhere else... He is so devoid of confidence or his head is somewhere else (would be understandable)... But he needs to bury some of those chances. Or anyone else not named Demko, QH, Petey... ad hold on to Lammikko an Podz.... So frustrating too watch... They created chances snd couldn't capitalise on them... But so did Red Wings... plenty golden opportunities ... Now is the time to build for the future... They had a good go of it under Bruce, and played far better than the start of the season, but Bruce probably came in 3-4 losses too late... These are the games that needs to be won, when you're chasing....no ifs and buts... Petey wants to win... time will tell if its in Vancouver,,,
