  1. Nope you are not at all foolish... I'd never put a bet against a team I support. I'd rather not bet at all... I'm one of the suckers they all make money on
  2. If there is one thing I know, its bookies are really good at guessing...
  3. Are we going to dump Hughes as well, when he is going to sign his next contract? When are the players too old?
  4. But I bet they would rather pay him $10.5 now, that him leaving on a free when the contract was signed. Its kind of the whole idea... since you can't give them 12-15M for 4 years you spread it out and yes, at the end its likely going to cost you, unless you can get some bottom feeder to take the player of you hands... Same with Miller if they decide to keep him, get another 3-5 good years out of him, and then he will drop down the line up, when the team start to retool or rebuild again.
  5. Not a chance in hell that accepts that... why on earth would he do that?
  6. A quick note here... if anyone should be able to be creating, when it comes to making deals, it should be JR jr. (Alwyn)... JR is know for his trigger finger, so he will surely know how to make deals that are useful.
  7. I'm sitting on a couch in bonny Scotland enjoying life, while the wife is laying low with Covid. I better enjoy it as much as I can amigo, as tomorrow she's get bored, and then I'll get busy Yes we have a lot of prospects in the pipeline, but I'm not sure many of them will make the show... still hoping for a few of them at least.. But yes they are like cash regardless... And yes, I also worry we'll end in the endless, trade our best players, because they need paid and a long contract. Are going to do the same with QH and Petey etc? Anyway these are Alwyns calls and it will be his legacy whether he make the right or the wrong ones... time will tell.
  8. Cheers bud. I have to say though if Alwyn and (JR) think this team can't compete in the play offs, and wants to make changes, then I'd rather they pull the plug instantly, so the prospect and pick that comes along, will have 2-3 seasons to be part of the next push... I would love to see this team given the chance though.... If for no other reason then because I'm sick of losing, and winning felt great during the bubble run.
  9. I understand your point of view, but feel its a toss of a coin, what is right or wrong. If this team is capable doing something over the next few years, letting him go isn't the right thing to do, however, if Alwyn (JR) and BB doesn't think so, yes by all means make the deal now, where teams can use him for two playoff rounds instead of one... Probably bigger return + shorter pain to we can compete again... There is no doubt that Miller leaving will be felt in the squad, and my concern is how the rest (Petey in particular) will react to it... The prospect will be good (has to be real good), anf the roster player has to e good as well, cause the pick won't be playing instantly...
  10. I have it from a hairdresser, who knows a woman, whos friend walks her dogs together with someone living in Millers building... and she says Miller loves Vancouver and in particular the view from his windows... He also thinks the fans are great, and he would love to sign an extension of.... unfortunately she didn't hear the rest of the conversation...
  11. But we are always going to be in this situation.. Most players comes to a time around 27-28, where they are going to make a final contract... are going to say good bye to Petey once he's that age or even worse Quinn Hughes? Its not particularly aimed at you DownUnda, but at some time we will have to accept that the top players are looking for their final pay offs... When will the time be to accept this? I get what you are saying, but think Miller at least would be capable at staying in the line up to the end of a long contract, should it be necessary...
  12. won't happen I'm afraid... would be fantastic though... Would also do it for 7 years, maybe even 8 years, just to give us a realistic chance of getting a proper push over the next 3-4 years... after that I'm sure he'd still be able to carry on as 3rd line C at least... This team could really be going places over the next 3-4 years, if.... they can keep their best players. Alternatively we'll be looking at starting to make a push in 3-4 years time... don't just replace Miller over night.
  13. Cmon boys lets fooking go now... Play like you want it... nobody is going to give it to you, so TAKE it....
  14. Yeah players may lose a bit of speed, but they also get much smarter with age...
  15. I want 4th line to stay intact, if..... the $ allow it... Don't want to overpay. Even if we have to let Motte walk during the summer.
  16. You can add me on to that list as well... Like the vibe around the team just now...
  17. Could be Benning was told from FA that he would NOT get to choose another Coach?
  18. Absolutely... It has me remembering the good times during the Sedins and Keslers leadership... The never say die attitude is right there. Sure they get smoked now and again, but the ability to bounce back is there for all to see... This was not what why expected during the dark days in November, when it looked like a beaten team...For all the bashing of Benning there is on these boards, Bruce coming in has shown, the team assembled by Benning has it in them to be a play offs team, hopefully they reach it as they'll be coming in smoking hot... And yes it is an easy team to like... All in it together, big or small, good or bad... (shown by Miller on the bench after Brocks horrendous pass in front of his own goal)... and did I mention it, they smoked Toronto... Slept like baby
