[PGT] Anaheim Ducks at Vancouver Canucks | Feb. 19, 2022
spook007 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Interesting take from Bruce Boudreau after the game...When asked if this game could have used a fight, he said it could have used lots of fights, but he didn't have anyone out there to do it... This tells me the team will be looking for some harder players now... I think Bruce and Allvin (JR) are old school enough to know, you need to be able to fight fire with fire and not lollipops... Never heard that kind of fighting talk from Green... But he was happy to see Podz reaction in the third, after Hogs got taken down... And as always sent the 4th line complements... I think anyone except Petey, QH, Demko, Podz are in play... It is not because of this one game, but as Bruce said, its the 'here we go again' attitude (defeatist). Special team are killing them and if you conceded more than 1-2 goal a game, you don't win many... Think big changes are coming over the next year or two. -
Why did they not review the goal for off side?
-
Man, would it be interesting to be in the dressing room just now.... how many f bombs would Bb be firing just now...
-
Bieksa looks like he could cry... proper Canuck feeling the pain
-
Cmon get one back

Stop the bleeding.... wake the hell up boys..

Don't disagree with that, and I liked MGs tenure as well, but that wasn't the point. Once you give out the Claused contracts, you accept to pay the piper, when you eventually starts rebuilding. Thats what happened to us. Benning couldn't trade them, so he had to draft well... The players got old and stale... MG didn't draft anyone of value bar Horvat, thus Benning almost had to start from scratch.
-
Because he is right... besides Bo, what exactly did MG draft of value? Gilles handed out protected contracts (NMCs and NTCs) like candy, in order for them to sign discounted contracts. As for Marky, Edler and Tanev...Marky is good but would you prefer we kept him and dumped Demko... can't have it both ways... Demko had very limited trade value, leading up to the play offs. And Marky he wasn't exactly lights out throughout his career here... There was a reason the brought in Miller... for 6M / year for 3 years. The corner stones of this team was drafted by Benning, and nobody can argue against that. Remains to be seen how good they will eventually be, but potentially an elite goalie, 1D, 1C, 1W (maybe) and a fair few supplementing pieces.

[PGT] Vancouver Canucks at San Jose Sharks | Feb. 17, 2022

This... Don't understand the constant moaning about us only winning because of Demko. Yes he is incredible, but only few teams win the SC with an average Goalie. How about we embrace the fact we are blessed with a goalkeeper, who has match winning performances, like any star D man or Forward. Personaly I don't care if we win the games because of Fin... as long as we win... Some performances will be better than others, not really a huge surprise. Main thing is getting results even, when you play poorly. Positivity is the way forward.... for some of us at least. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks

That's exactly what he is saying. we don't need to trade Miller... yet at least... so unless they show something worth trading for, nothing will happen. -

I mentioned the issues they were dealing with... the goalie did amazing, but the whole situation disrupted the team.. including both keepers being put on Covid protocol. So you don't think half the team missing mattered? -

Never said it was, on the contrary... nevertheless half the team (nearly was missing), and that had a massive influence in the outcome... Again, as I said before, if the results are the same over the next 6-10 games yes than they are toast, but leat just see that be the case before we burn the house down... -

The team has been heavily influenced by Covid over that period as well as playing almost the 5th string goalie... may not all have been pretty, but wouldn't put too much emphasis on that... lets see over the next 6-10 games... PK had actually been decent again until last night, where it looked like Baumer had taken over the D duties again... If it is as bad against Ducks, yeah then we can start to question it, but to say the Bruce bump is over is a bit premature... -

Well I do... hate everything Kings and Sharks... Think its mainly because of several refereeing shockers over the years involving these two opponents... -

They were going on about Burroughs questionable hit to the head, where he got 2 min for roughing in the first... It was just non stop blabbing about the Sharks... -

Had to watch on the Sharks feed... oh my Fxxxing head... Is Baumer back running our collapsing D on the PK again 4th line still a power of good, and Burroughs is ace. Playing with an edge that only Myers and Schenn normally find. But man... did they ever make hard work of that PS. Keep the streak going boys...we got this... -
Would have been fab if Jake could have been sent to the AHL before being promoted to the big team. Frustrating that he because of age couldn't play there... It could even perhaps have saved Jake from Jake... as it turned out, he was not mentally ready for the big show. What a waste...

It good to hear that JR already installed that he wants PA to think for himself and make decisions... if he didn't then JR would still be the GM.. once JR steps back PA needs to be able to stand on his own legs. Also like the emphasys on the group being part of the decisions. Need to trust the input from the folks around you, even though you may not agree... In the end PA makes the final call, and the buck stops with him. It will be an interesting process to get through, but don't expect much for the next few years tbh. Good luck Patrick, won't be long before the knives gets sharpened...

Been reading a lot of pages about the trading of Miller and two things springs to mind.. Firstly,... a lot of the rumours about what teams thinks Miller is worth, is a bit of a fools game (likely by fans website or local paper hacks supporting those teams). Nobody goes in at this time a throws a mega offer on the table, before they know if its worth it. Would teams love Miller in their line up sure, but unless they know for sure there's a reason to blow the bank, they are hardly likely to do so.... Secondly... If the picture was turned around, would we have been willing to give up a recently drafted 1OA or 2OA + a highly sort after prospect + a1st rounder etc for a player, who would be a UFA in 15 months? Point being, maybe temper the expectations of what we can, will or will not be getting back for Miller. Mean time if we don't get, what we want, he remains a Canuck, so no harm done. Some of these trade proposals given by Rangers and Bruins won't be much worse next year at the D/L... although we may not be in a position that allows us to trade him then. Anyway just my 2 cents...

Guess you can add Hunt to that group.

Is Lundkvist that great a prospect? Sounds less than overwhelming to me?? And Kravtsov? Did he not flee... ala Tryamkin? Please enlighten me??
