  1. Another great post James... Like your last line. Agree 100%... A man known to like a trade or 50 is hardly gonna sit pat for long unless the team is smashing it up...
  2. Liked your idea right up to the part, what comes back has to be picks... The concern being picks are harder to predict... I'd prefer a mix... The top players should at least bring good or great prospects back (reason being they are a season or 3 further in their development, so we know, we'll get something useable back... if its all picks, we could end up with nothing... picks are defo no guarantees...nevertheless I like you proposal... I'll be surprised if Brock isn't moved and expect Miller to be gone as well...
  3. Yes it is hard... I've stated numerous times, that I've struggled with that question... My heart say keep, but my head say trade... Love Miller as he often carries this team on his shoulders. But we will never be in a better position to get a potentially franchise defining trade for any of our players like the one we are able to make for Miller now... JR and Alwyn holds all the aces... He is cheap, potentially even cheaper on a contract for two play offs. He is putting points up and PK, PP and he plays a heavy in you face game... Everything anyone would want from a forward. By the time the rest of the team has grown at least a few years away, he may decide to leave, and we could end up losing our golden egg for nothing... Maybe a single play offs next year? He may want to hang around, but can we afford to hope for this? Of course if they offers are less than great, we can always hold the horses to summer or next trade d/l but the offers will likely be far less... Other teams knows this as well so this is the cat and mouse that will be played out. JR is known for making trades...lots of trades, and he is unlikely to hold the same sentimental value towards the players, we do... If he starts to break the team down, all bets are off, and I would not be surprised at anything, although I'd be disappointed or maybe unhappy, but they know this isn't good enough unless the fairy godmother sprinkles some magic dust around, so they may take the bull by the horns... Long story short, if they wanna rebuild Miller is the best asset they have....
  4. Yes Sam I agree, there comes a time, when the question is, if he just won't rediscover his mojo in Vancouver. Not sure when that is, but certainly not now. The world and everything in it has been totally turned upside down over the last two years with covid start/stop, negotiations that went by the way side, no training camp etc etc. Who knows, maybe he felt screwed over by Benning for something they had agreed upon, or his landlord is an arse or what ever...? He was fantastic when he broke through and he was fantastic when he entered the league, but since more and more responsibility has been put on his shoulders, he has crumbled... Could that be the reason? Him being too young to take the team and carry it time after time... who know. A lot of players go through periods in their careers, where nothing goes to plan, or at least nowhere as good as it could or should be... But most of them overcome these periods, by being protected by their coaches... If we start selling out to change the roster, we will most likely not be able to compete for a few (good few) years, and as such we do have time for him to find form again. It's not like the Virtanen story, where we were hoping year after year that he'd really break through, but despite increasing his production he never really showed, what we had hoped, he could. Petey already has showed us, what he is able to do in the NHL, when he is on song, so we need to give him time... after all he is still only 23...
  5. God almighty... Surely we are not going to trade Petey, when he is at an all time low? Especially when we all know, what he is capable of... The bids for Petey won't be sky high now, just like we wouldn't be paying a kings ransom for Lafreniere or Kappo despite, half on here wanted us to suck ass to draft the two players... How long did it tale for the Sedins too break through? I have zero doubt that they and he are trying everything to get him up in weight and improve his muscles... This will be one for the story books, if he gets traded, and finds his mojo again. He will never be a strong punishing forechecker or anything like it, but when he is on song there is only few better finishers in the league than him. I'm sure there is room for him in the line up... There is definitely a few in the top six I rather see moved, before we even consider Petey at all...
  6. Think depends on the results in the next 5-7games... If they lose the majority, I think they start to turn the roster over instantly, and if that is the case, all bets are off...
  7. Yes its either a total rebuild/retool or what ever, or stand pat... Think they have to find out exactly how they want us to play first. Atm its a bit of everything in a big mesh mash... If they go for it they may as well do the full Monty and get rid of the stars that can't get it done anyway... pending on the return obviously...
  8. This.... this is probably the most resonable way of putting it, despite our love and loyalty towards Miller...
  9. don't think they wanted to... and that kind of ended the story. Linden spoke about you couldn't do that, which is either his honest opinion or they had already been asked and said no... Would know as I had one, but my point still stands. I responded to a post, which said prospects a d picks wasn't enough, and I agreed to that. Had to be top prospects or roster players... roster players no likely from a team going for it, thus looking at very good prospects just about to break through. And again if a pick cones along, excellent, but we want something from the deal that is as close as possible to future top six C or top 4 rhd +.... If EP doesn't regain form (I think he does) the new players could end up have to be the core players of the future. PS. Nothing wrong with worrying about the tires... always get as much as possible for you money
  10. This is also what I want. A rhd and a c... maybe the get Laf out of NY+ something else?, or they get one of the coverted rhds + something else... I doubt they'll get both tbh... but hope they try for it.
  11. Agree to a certain extend... Don't think we'd find anyone willing to sign 2 Sedins at 12M and they did not want to waive, so we could have just let them walk but chose to run a little further with them... How they fell over a cliff edge was not quite expected. Of course not... We are talking future Hall of Famers It was response to thew JM's post... there has been lots of proposals where folks are speaking about 1st rd pick as part of the package. If we get a 1st its fine, but that is not so interesting to me...
  12. I agree 100% on that... I think a good RHD-man to grow with the team is essential, but also think we need a top Centre prospect at least to go with this... I'm not sold on the picks garbage. A late 1st round pick is not on top of the agenda... I don't care, how useless MG was, but seeing, what we got out of late 1st rd picks has made me less of a believer in striking gold at the end of 1st round. So to me its a RHD D-prospect and a good Centre-prospect (or a solid player 2nd -3rd line around 25-26 years of age).. if we get a first as well fine... (Miller was a third line player for Tampa)... We speak about our core players, but half of CDC are willing to trade Petey, Brock, Bo etc., so are they really worth trying too build around? I think yes, but we could also end up with egg on our faces if it turns out they are not going to find their mojo again....
  13. Miller leaving also leaves a massive hole in the middle of the line up. We do need a D-man like you described desperately, but.... lets not forget the other parts.
  14. Sedins were almost 31 when they played for SC against the Bruins... Glad we didn't trade them away... Just saying. I do however think, we need to to do something, to shake it up. I love this team but with EP and Boeser playing below par, we are going nowhere. In saying this, we all know what they can do, and they won't fetch, what they should atm (look at how Laf, a former 1st OA is being valued), so it limits our options to change it up. So despite loving Miller, he seems to be the odd man out, or at least the piece that can give us something to build on.
  15. Let them argue all they want to... If we go to a team and take hold back salary on a player like Miller, even 1.5 years could mean a cup... If they don't want to give anything keep him. Even if he goes on a free... should never accept pittance for good players...
  16. Yep... and its not even close.... These boys work for a living... turn up every day, checks in, works hard, checks out and go home..... These a the real heroes of any hockey club... players the ordinary hockey fan can relate to... I freaking love Motte... But yeah they all put in a proper shift... Proud to have them as part of the team.
  17. Daniel Sedin 43......Man sometimes we forget how good they were....
