[PGT] Florida Panthers at Vancouver Canucks | Jan. 21, 2022

Absolutely right... Don't think they have any intentions of that at all... If they look like heading for a play offs spot, I think they'll let the players run with it, without making any changes (short term changes). I do understand the lure of trading Miller if we are looking at a play offs berth, as the return will never be greater, but still think any thought of trades, will be put on hold to the summer, if that is the case... -

Yes I know... Hope it turns out good, course if the players brought in doesn't live up to expectation, we will be floating around wasting EP and Bo's window (provided we keep Bo)... I also harbours concerns about EP's commitments to Canucks long term, if we start going younger... But, of course if the new players slide in and it looks like we're getting better, then he probably won't be in a hurry to leave... PS. and yes agree 100% no player is bigger than the club..... ever.... -

Hammer meets nail... This is exactly how it looks and how it feels... I did post somewhere else, that the most positive thing about getting a new GM would be he didn't harbour the same affection for our players, that we have...(not that I think, it would stop him from wielding the axe, but still...). I have a feeling that if they look like making the play offs, they'll run with the horses... It is a business after all... who knows... time will tell. -

Yeah I hope you're right so sicknof losing, and when we finally start winning, we are moving the time line. I the part we get in doesn't work out as hoped for, we coild be back to square one... or that's my fear. its been a while since I enjoyed watchingnthe Nucks as much as since Bruce took over... Guess I just don't want the excitement to end.. -

Totally get, what you're saying... It will be tough see a winning team being taken apart, but at least it should help the returns, so they decide to go down that route... So guess that's the silver lining. -

Provost, please kindly tell me, if my post was in any way misogynistic? I'm struggling to follow this new wave of watching, what you say, and to whom you say it... The reason folks say they don't care if its a woman or not, is because it is unusual to see a female in this position in an NHL team. Can't see anything sexiest what so ever in that... If any of the female fans on the these pages think my post was in any way degrading towards females, please enlighten me... There are some many great fans here on CDC and I'd hate to think I was in any way degrading towards any of them. -

And he's been traded twice... don't think he would have been here regardless. -

Torn between using Miller in a trade and take our chances next season. Miller has been the aggression offensively so many times this season, and the straw that stirs the drinks. On the other hand, can we get a another potential game breaker + a few extras good pieces could go along way for the future of the club... If Miller goes, what signal does it send to Brock, Bo and Petey? Are they going to hang around for another rebuild, however short it may be..? There are so many good reasons for both arguments, and it is a defining moment for the immidiate future of this club... If for any reason the pieces coming back doesn't live up to expectations, we may have to start all over, as our stars won't be interested in hanging around. And I doubt FA will go full tank mode to start all over, so we may go through the same once again... Just don't know.... -

They do it for the US market where some fans would find a draw boring, and in order to get them some goals, they turn to shoot out. If they want more attacking hockey, they should do, what football did, with 3 points for a win. It forced teams to go on the front foot and it makes everyone a winner. could be w=3, OTW =2, OTL=1, L=0 or W=3, OTW=1, L (any sort) =0 -

Without the shoot out. Maybe 10min 3v3. Not a fan of shoot out. -

I think we should all just stand back and be happy that serious change is happening. Looking like FA has given JR carte blance to hire as many, as he think, he needs, and that is what he is doing. Whether they are good or not remains to be seen, but hopefully as we all want the ultimate goal. I could care less, just as I think most fans feels, if it is a male, female, black, white, yellow, tartan coloured, human or a fish... as long as they land the best for the job to help us towards the target. JR, has been in the business many years, and he seems to know exactly, what he is looking for... One wonders if Benning, would have been better off, had he had a GM with this sort of experience behind him, instead of being a green GM, with a green President (Linden) green head coach etc... Lets see how it pans out.... if anything, Benning did do some screwed business and left JR and whoever the new GM will be, with some good pieces to use, should they decide to break it down... it wasn't all bad. not even close... -

Grow up....please -
On a side note... the rest of the team in our division does everything they can, to keep us in it.... amazing

I will be the happiest on CDC if we get a play off berth, after all this is what we are trying to achieve each season, and off season is so damn long
-
In order to get a play offs berth, we have to win games.. (I know, of course we do, but we have to win a lot). Pending on how many games we play without Bo, Demko, Miller, Garland and Halak, my opinion is we have to be extremely lucky not to be further behind once these players come back... On top of this, players normally take a few games to get back up to speed, so I fear it will be too much of a task to cash up... Of course anything is possible mathematically, but I struggle to see us doing much with out our two top C men and Garland + our two main Goalies... Does it mean I don't hope we get to the play offs? No on the contrary... I think. I've made it abundantly clear, I'd take play off at every opportunity, regardless of what happens next, as its the reason i watch. However I just don't think its realistic... I will be more than happy should they go on another run and make it... (I think, OEL, Myers, Burroughs still haven't had Covid but not sure, so can't say)
-
You're Probably right... But, the real test was really, if they could put together another miracle run, once they got back home... Think this is very unlikely now.... Think we are sellers at D/L...unfortunately...
-
This was not the news, we were looking for... Its almost as if the gods wants us to miss the play offs... Not good

Who will be the first player to be traded under the new management?
spook007 replied to Rabbit's topic in Canucks Talk
Yes there is nothing wrong with GM speaking to a player or his agent and advising him, what his future plans are etc. And, of course, If a player can be traded Ito a contender from a team going nowhere, there's a good chance the player would be interested, but if not his clause should be respected... If you trade all his friends away, he may also want to be let loose, and this is still fair play. But there is a reason why players sign NMC's NTC's... If players are just gonna get dumped, when it suits the GM's, why would they sign them in the first place? A fair few players signed at, what was considered, team friendly contracts during MG premiership, and I remember a few them being fairly unhappy about being pushed out before their contacts ended... I'm sure there isn't a list of cities/GMs that should be avoided, but I am also sure, that any agent worth his pay check, will be aware of Gm's that tend not to honour contract clauses, and will advise his client accordingly. They may still decide to sign for various reasons, but will probably be apprehensive signing at a discounted rate. (obvious its just speculation)
