  1. I'm over the Virtanen disappointment. I know your concerns, but I refuse to let one young stress me out over the future... The more I read about Barlow, the more excited I get... He is exactly the sort of player that can be inserted into the line up in the next year or two, if money is our concern. And by god we need, what he potentially can bring to the team. Ultra competitive, and plus sound defence on top of being a goal scorer + he has play making ability. I see a Toffoli and Pearson love child... and this we could use. He is not as much of a boom/bust as some of the others available, but he will have a sound floor level, and where we are atm, we need to hit on out first round drafts to give some support to the established players in the team. I agree, he will fit in well anywhere in the top 3 lines and by all records be a sound goal scoring winger with a proper noise for defence as well... Tbh I struggle to find a favourite prospect... Love the idea of Wood, whom I think is more of a boom and bust, same with Benson. Leonard and Dvorsky are going to be good players but are likely gone, and so will Reinbacker be... Whom to take, whom to take... so many good options... wouldn't like to be making the pick, as if they screw this up, they won't hear the end of it for years. They want to compete now, thus I think they are more likely to pick player they expect to be joining the team in a year or two....
  2. That's where I see them picking Barlow.
  3. Cheers amigo. no worries... we don't have to see everything the same way Thats the joy of a forum like this. Various points of views.
  4. Cheers Joe. You are likely right in the 2nd may be used to move cap with. I just hope we don't end up in a situation, where all our chips goes to open up cap space, as we really need a few gems to come through the system over the next few years. They may still be able to swing a trade involving one of the expensive wingers without using the family silver. At least thats my hope.
  5. He is at league minimum deal. This it not where our problems lay. He may be the victim of not being able to move other contracts, giving others from within a chance, but he isn't the problem.
  6. Hmmm... yes and no regarding Pearson. I get your point about the money though. He was probably signed to a slightly higher contract, for what he was bringing, but I wouldn't say, he was redundant. Reason he kept being put on Horvats wing was as much a representation that we had nobody better than Pearson. When Boeser was on Horvats wing, they needed somebody to go to the net and being able to defend as well. He scores around 15+ goals (not checking stats), and he was defensive sound as well. On top of that he went to the hard areas and also wasn't worried about dripping the mitts. Basically Dorsets light (fighting wise)... I think the fact we sucked defensively on the PK was also partly because of Pearsons injury... In general yes he was at the end of carreer but the need for him was more a show that we didn't have anybody to replace him. ATM we have Beau, Garland and Boeser making $5M or more and none of them can defend particularly well, so I think he had a place on this team.
  7. And he actually didn't hesitate to drop the mitts, if needed... I wonder if our extremely poor defensive play / PK last season was mainly because of Pearson going down?
  8. Pearson was actually not a bad player.. streaky but defensively sound. Possibly a bit over paid... As for Dickinson... it was a bit like Schmidt, whom Benning acquired from Vegas, where he played top minutes, and came he here and for whatever reason played like a dogs breakfast... Dickinson was a decent player for Dallas prior to being obtained here... Some times it just doesn't work out.... too many misses like that for Benning unfortunately...
  9. Well, the trade will be made on the floor at the draft itself. Now if Canucks have 5-6 prospects they feel is of the same or close to same value to them, a trade down 4-6 picks to accumulate more picks may be ok. However, they should not devalue the pick, just to add more picks, as we need young players to enter the team in 2-3 years time to help with the cap.
  10. Tbh ASP would not be a bad pick at 11th. He'd likely be ready in 1-3 year to cover the rhd spot we are desperate for talent to cover.
  11. Yep Edler was an under rated star here. so when folks compare a prospect to Edler with more grit, I start drooling, cause we are so in need of that.
  12. Yes lets get some big drafted... Even though OEL is here possibly for another 4 years, there will be a time, when he leaves... having a few gems in the pipeline would perfect time wise with him leaving.
  13. Not only a 3/4, but and Edler clone with more edge, and you'll be close to a no.2 than a no.4.... Edler had decent production as well...
  14. Now wouldn't that be something, if that ended up being the case... Exactly what we are screaming out for...
  15. To fail while trying as hard as you can is perfectly acceptable... Should never fail for the lack of trying, or putting in the effort.... We can't all win, but we can be the best, we can be.... Agree 100%
  16. That's taking it a bit far... But there's no chance he'll drop to 11....
  17. If he drops to 11, I'll eat my old hat...
  18. Cheers exactly.... practicing with Bedard, not by Bedard... or at least that how I read and understand it.
  19. Cheers Alf, Sorry missed that. DiGuiseppe though, is signed to a great contract. Expect him to be on the opening day roster...
  20. Agree, Baer is kinda meh....lukewarm...
  21. If Petey want to move to a contender, I think some team will make room for him with trades... (its only Vancouver that can't move players to create space....)
