Bet you are not the only one struggling with this... 6 games ago 85% would say BB as without the goals, he doesn't offer the same level of energy as Miller... But snipers like Brock are rare, and he seems to have rediscovered his mojo again... Really tough call just now, and guess it depends on whether we are in a win now mode, and what returns can be obtained.... Feel this team will struggle just now, if Miller is traded, but it may be better in a few years with the return and Brock in his prime... + the added bonus of still being able to trade Brock at a later stage for new influx of talent on the team.

Everyone can be traded...pending on the offer?

[Report] Canucks name Jim Rutherford as president & interim GM

Welcome to CDC... everything here is a complete guess... But I do know, that any job in the world involves more, than meets the eye... -
[Report] Canucks name Jim Rutherford as president & interim GM

Yes there is a lot of trap and but etc... But if you invented the deep plate, why not use it...? You can also easily end up in the trap of out smarting yourself... Whats the point of hiring JR, if you don't want him to follow his beliefs, especially since they've been successful before... If you got a baker good at making certain bread, you hardly ask him to drop it and do it differently... times move and I'm sure folk move along and change, but if the foundation has been a successful one, I'd be astonished if its not replicated to a certain extend... -

Think you just answered the question yourself, as to why JR would hire him, if indeed he does... -

Absolutely, but in any organisation you'll see folks surrounding themselves with people they trust... and why not? I haven't got a clue, who the best candidate is, and hopefully JR picks the right person but only time will tell... I'm 100% sure though, that if JR doesn't believe Allvin is up to the task, then he'll choose somebody else. Aquilini took in one of the most respected folks in the business to build us a winner... Maybe we should trust his judgement and let him get on with it. -

Right or wrongly, he probably likes to surround himself with folks he trusts... time will tell. -
Desperate or not... on paper (and yes I know the game isn't played on paper) this is the best line up we've had since 2012... For whatever reason, and Green and coaching staff shares a lot of the blame here, it just didn't work out... New coach and the team is flying... That has f all to do with the GM... Had JB sacked Green and Baumer during the summer, he might still have been the GM... Regardless, everyone has a shelf life and JB had probably come to the end of his as well, but bar for a few tweaks this team could actually do well... Remains to be seen how they fare, but a bit of muscle to take on the other teams tough guys would help...

[Report] Zach Senyshyn requests trade

Pretty much spot on...

And disagree... OJ didn't play for us, yet Benning made a quick trade and got a 4th line C.. just an example... Vanek a free agency brought us Motte, Dickinson for a 3rd and we can discuss the OEL/Garland trade for a bunch of garbage + a first... even without the garbage it is a great trade, provided this team goes somewhere... Can probably find more trades, but can be bothered tbh... Well that suggests 1 of 2... either JR wants to see for him self before making changes or the players aren't good enough? Mind you, when your best prospects walk straight into the team, its hard to have good prospects in UTICA/Abbotsford... Finally anyone can attract players... think JR is mostly known for trading for players, in which case anyone can attract players... Thing is, I've yet to hear anyone state the wouldn't sign for Canucks because of Benning...
-
Fair comment DSVII... I think we can all agree that in the beginning his trade history weren't too impressive (actually pretty poor), but that part improved severely... The development part is probably where it hangs, and I'll agree to that. Most of our prospects have come straight into the team from other developments apart from Demko... Well lets see if the new management team can improve on that... I'm looking forward to see, what happens at the trade deadline. Hope folks won't be too disappointed... Improving this team is either going to cost draft picks, or some of the teams heavy weights... Will be interesting to see, which way JR goes...

Well the question was whether Benning was a good drafter or not, and compared to others he is above average... He may have other faults, but drafting was not one of them...
-
Benning also drafted McCann and Forsling amongst others... Just because they are not on the Canucks team, doesn't change the fact he drafted them, no? Since I haven't read it all, it may be a different question in which case I apologise...

What do you think; how will the pause affect the team?
spook007 replied to Rubik's topic in Canucks Talk
Not so sure as most others seem to be... While I agree there's a massive advantage to be had in getting injured players back and extra training, I feel the feel good factor and adrenaline from winning will be somewhat lost now... Hope I'm wrong, as the team started to find its mojo again... and has been brilliant to watch... -
Really pleased that Lockwood was sent to Abby and kept away from the sh!t show... He needed to work on a few things defensively, and he will be far better for it... Plays a game that will suit the Canucks big time... He will be a mainstay for years...if he can stay healthy.... One of my favourite prospects ...

Maybe yes and maybe no... i'd rather they try to stop the spread of Covid within the squad. Even if they'd bbear the Laughs, whats the point, if we lose the next handful due to lack of players... We have been up against the odds before and pulled through. Also I'm not sure our D could hold the remaining Laughs, but thats beside the point. I am bitterly disappointed, as this team is on a roll just now, but safety first. Had enough bull$&!# last year with the Covid crap. Hope we don't have the same scenario this season. Send the players home, and see how they react, so they don't spread it more...

You have to wonder, why players like Brock and Petey were so slow out of the traps at the start of the season? I'm not sure of the reason, but do find it hard not to think, they had off Greens ideas, as the results now has turned around 180 degrees... Regardless, I'm just a happy camper, that enjoy seeing the boys with a smile on their faces again... they start to look like a proper team.
