  1. Yeah, I'm not so sure tbh...Real Madrid has always paid more + higher wages for players than anyone else, followed by Barca... Used to be Italian teams, but they could not sustain this, and almost went bankrupt... British teams could do the same with City and Chelsea leading the way. United definitely had the financial muscle to compete with Those teams, if not better them, but the Glaziers have milked the club over the years, by taking huge sums out for them selves...At least the other teams put the money back into their teams... Real Madrid (Perez) is now crying, because he can no longer out bid the big clubs for every player in the world, and that means good bye to their monopoly on the best players available.... I don't feel the slightest bit sorry for him for that. In some way as a side note, its kind of funny to see all the UK media going bananas together with all the fans, as they never once reacted, to Rangers and Celtic trying to break free from Scottish football... not once... The last 10-15 years the Old firm teams have tried everything to get into the better financed league south of the border, caring less about the league and teams in the country they represent... Pot and Kettle... Anyway I'm happy the Super league was stopped, as the European competision should be the reward for a good season, actually giving the teams something to fight for.
  2. Maybe, but that was not the question. You said if drafting of two undersized players was Benning only achievement, which I disagreed with... I'm pretty pleased with how Benning has managed to pull rabbits out of the hat on a regular basis.. I will add, that drafting both Demko and Höglander in the second round as well as with a bit of luck Lind and Gadjovic + getting a hold of players like Rathbone although all 3 still need to show they are able to do so. I still think Benning has at least 2 more years, before questions may be asked from owners side...
  3. You and I both know that head lines sell.... both good and bad, but in particular bad ones
  4. Yep...stop paying obscene money for/to the players. Problem solved.
  5. Journalists stroke the fire to get a reaction... Nothing sells better than disasters...
  6. Yes Benning has not been perfect... Kind of odd to hear, seeing all the complaints about Virtanen... I wanted Ehlers but understood, why Virtanen was drafted. So who would you have drafted instead of the two small players??? I'm very satisfied with the trade for Miller and Motte. Not unhappy with Pearson neither nor getting Myers. OJ has been injured for big stretches of the last 3 years, are folks going to hold this against the GM? Bourdon (RIP) sadly died in a motor cycle accident. Did that make him a bad pick too? I wish I had the crystal ball some fans seems to own, as I sure as heck wouldn't have to work for a start.
  7. Maybe we should just let Pearson become 30 before we speak about a 30+ third liner... He may very well end up on the third line in the future, maybe even near future, but I'm sure that will depend on the progress of our prospects. If any of them are good enough to dislodge him from 2LW good on them... Regardless, get what you're saying. Any team is in it to win it, but our window is still not really open. Think another 1-2 years before this team begins to make serious noises. At that stage Pearson can be traded if needed, but I think Benning likes to keep some players around with experience. This summer and next, most of the 'old timers' will be gone and Horvat and Miller will be the senior leaders, while we are still bringing in youth. At that stage, the fact he is so defensively responsible, that he would make a lot of third lines better, should just be an advantage for Canucks.
  8. Think that was a big reason for him getting an extension...
  9. Keep the streak going... 4-2 Canucks Boeser Canucks first to score
  10. Didn't get to see the game until now... Man is Holtby a changed person... He has been so strong these last two games against Leafs. And a huge shout out to the 2 players being shat on all the time... Pearson and Sutter... New guys seem to bring a lot of energy to the line up as well.... Great stuff...
  11. Tough one you went through there Hairy... Glad you're feeling better amigo.
  12. Have you checked the dates? Notorious dirty player? When was the last time, he got a suspension... on top of that some of the suspensions he got were nonsense... suspensions for intend... Notorious dirty player? Never.....
  13. Boys showed a lot of heart. At times it looked like they were skating in molases... Holtby keeping them in the game was a massive inspiration, and Bo’s first goal looked to give them a massive boost. More than anything I’m happy for the fan base as they needed this big time.
  14. A team full of characters, it bodes well for the furure. This game was so much like the play off team last year. When the chips were down, the boys fought back against all the odd. Bring it on.
  15. Spot on... these are the times that gives joy in an otherwise miserable time... We'll be able to live on this win for a long time.. Magic
  16. On days like these, who give a damn about draft picks... Life is wonderful... Besides, off all years this is the one, where you could pick a player just about anywhere, as nobody seem to know for sure, who is going to be real good...
