4-3 Canucks.... Miller -
[Signing] Jets re-sign Adam Lowry

Just out of curiosity how do you come to that conclusion? Lowry is 28 and so is Pearson (7month older than Lowry)? -
True, hence I say the drafting is important. We are talking about 3-4 years from now, pending on with deals gets made. Lets see this years draft and possibly a few more drafted players, although they very unlikely will be be challenging for the top 2 lines, but players like Miller, Horvat etc may bring a decent haul, but yes there are likely going to be some changes made in 3 years time... think the year after next 22-23 will be an exciting year, and after that, it all depends on numbers...and we don't really know that now.
-
Maybe.... Beagle, Roussel, Spooner, Eriksson, Loungo, Baertschi, Ferland, Holtby, Edler, Sutter. all gone by then... You don't think that is enough to cover? Maybe not, but if so isn't it like this for clubs with proper talent in their ranks? Thought this was the reason drafting was important... to fill in the blanks that will appear, if the players get too expensive? Thought us getting Miller and later Schmidt was a result of that? Beagle as well? Myers? Think contenders, or teams in the upper part of the league, regularly have to change the expensive 2nd, 3rd or 4th line players, or players ready for a raise) to keep within the cap... Difference for us is now the top players will be paid, and the 2 bottom lines will be cheap or ELC players... (same for defenders). But yes money will need to be made available somehow or we may eventually see some players leave.

[Cancelled] Predict The Score Contest: EDM @ VAN April 16 2021

4-3 Canucks Miller -
Is there even room for Gaudette in the top 9? Chance Lind and Podz enters the frey, and think Gaudette is wasted on the 4th line. So far he doesn't look much like a 3C... So many here were envious of Vegas bottom 6 crash and bang players, and rightfully so. Could be a calculated risk? Wonder how many really knows much about this player...

Injury wise.... and I think Brocks stats 161 point in 197, games prior to signing his bridge deal, are none too far of those of Petey's (not quite as good)... Fact is none of us knows, what Petey will be pushing for...
-
So does Petey kind off... Its not as if Petey set the world on fire this season... I think they'll both end up with a bridge deal, but time will tell. Point was, that folks were concerned about the same, when these deals had to be made...
-
And that is absolutely correct... If you are unhappy with the product, don't go...
-
Was it not something like that they said, before Horvat and Brock signed their contracts?

[Signing] Canucks re-sign Tanner Pearson
spook007 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
You don't like the Demko contract or the Horvat contract? -
Exactly.... Like to think that GM's keep their cards close to their chest. Last year leading up to the offseason it was the same...
-
And you knew that the day Benning signed him?
-
Sorry 24K but nope.... Firstly, where is the proof they are meddling (except hear say and media/fans speculation), but secondly and more importantly, Its their flipping business... Who would own A billion dollars business and not have a say? And finally who would call time on the GMs tenure if it wasn’t the owners? A president of hockey operations? Maybe? And who would control him? What if he was happy with the plans of Benning? Just because we may don’t agree with the decisions made, doesn’t mean they are wrong. They may be, time will tell, but we don’t have all the information. As the old saying goes ‘be careful, what you wish for’.... There’s plenty fans around the league that wishes their owners would spend like ours.
-
I don't disagree with that at all.
-
Did you read the post, I responded to? A daft statement that the only 4 NHL players Benning had drafted were BB,Hogs,QH and EP... Well that is just plain wrong. All the rest can be questioned and debated, but his drafting has been above average, and definitely ok.
-
Bad ownership??? How do you get to that conclusion... They spend to the limit every year, and even now with limited income they still support the management financially...
-
Yes agree totally with regards to the Chernobyl series, both brilliant and shocking. Lui was a total shocker... I actually was daft enough, too think he would be a good fit with the Sedins after their heroics at the Olympics... Man was I wrong... Ferland, I don't feel so bad about, as he represents something, I really wish we had in our team. Tenacity like Motte but both able and willing to swing them as well... Unfortunately his health just couldn't match, so he's on LTIR so it doesn't hurt us too bad. Beagle won a cup the year before signing here. While Washington felt they easily could replace him with Dowd (They after all have another 20 players with rings), Benning likely felt he could bring some pedigree and knowledge to the group of players he was accumulating, so I understand that call as well... Yes managing the cap is line balancing on a knifes edge. I don't feel it looks as bad as it is portrayed as... In 2 years time we will hopefully have more ELC's entering on top of Podz and Lind, who I expect to make the team next season, if not full time then part of it. Rathbone or Woo and definitely Juolevi, so there will be cheap players coming in. Time will tell if there is enough to keep all of the top players, but so far they have been able to manage the cap ok, despite some serious concerns amongst fans, so I think he deserves the benefit of doubt....
-
Exactly... Or when Benning acquired Miller...
