True.... We don't know any of the ins and outs... if a player feels, he is being low balled, it immediately changes the dynamics... Marky may take a 'discounted' contract if he really likes it here, but he also knows that even with a NTC or NMC in his contract, he may be sidelined or shifted... so it likely won't far below, what is expected all things considered.

Is it possible to do a whole season in the bubbles?

Possibly yes.... not sure how contracts are met in these special circumstances, but can see a case for both sides. Think as Lucky said earlier, players will probably be willing ti negotiate a way through this, as they need to make money as well. -

Its the going home that carries the danger. However, yes if they start every mini-tournament with a 2 week quarantine, maybe... depends on how desperate they are to get the season going while still fairly safe... they’ve done well to get this season going so far... -

Maybe for a short tournament, but for an NHL season? My concern is when they leave to see their families, I don't know but think you'll be lucky if none of them gets Covid-19 or has to go in to quarantine. And if that is the case, will they continue without the player in question or stop the team from playing (postponing games etc.) I'm in Aberdeen, Scotland, and up here the soccer season has started. The local team have just had 2 players tested Covid-19 positive and 8 players are in Quarantine. This is for at least 2 weeks period with no games played, and with the congestion of an NHL season, I would imagine that would have been a problem. And on top of this, I'm not sure the owners would want to pay, what it would/could cost with no gate revenue... -

As depressing as it sound, it could easily be the end of it all... Don't even wanna think about that... -

Yep, and thats my point. ATM they are not leaving the bubble they are in, until they are eliminated, however a long season, where they go home to their families.... If anyone will have to go into isolation, I think the postponement would cause chaos... Just don't see it happening...unfortunately. -

And if a player contracts Covid-19 while home, he may give it to the rest of the squad upon returning. And will the games be played if a player on either team has a confirmed case or just showing symptoms? Just don’t think it will be possible...as disappointing as it will be to say good bye to the season. also can see the owners having much interest in playing empty venues. -
WCQF: (4) St. Louis Blues vs. (5) Vancouver Canucks

Agree 100% Lucky... still have bad memories about our players playing 'nice' hockey (while being anything but).... While needless tripping and hooking pens are of huge frustration, I don't mind a few roughing calls... Once Steen and the rest of Blues big boys (especially their massive D-core) starts to hammer Petey and Hughes, shift after shift, and they will try to, pray to god that Myers and Edler doesn't become mice, but make them look over their shoulder all the time... I fear for the health of our young players, if we revert to 'nice' hockey.... We may have beat the Blues during regular season, but this is where size really start to matter....and will be felt... -

Is the season a success no matter what else happens?
spook007 replied to JM_'s topic in Canucks Talk
Yes the elation and jubilation on the bench showed how important this was for everyone involved with the Canucks... All brilliant things we will be able to look back at, when we discuss this team in the next few years. I mostly get up at 3am during regular season to watch them, as I hate watching a game knowing the score. And I don't mind neither... And Millers speech.... I even had goose bumps watching it. The 'I got your back and you got mine' feeling shone right through.... They are A TEAM -

Season target of reaching play off, to give the young guns a taste of playoff hockey, has been achieved, so that in itself makes the season a successful one. In no particular order..... Petey can take being bullied and doesn't back down. Boeser goes to the dirty areas and are looks like Boeser of a few years ago... he doesn't shy away neither Hughes will be the best offensive D-man in the league in a year or two (Tanev says so....) already breaking record after record. Horvat showed up when needed... All the vets have played like they were supposed to when brought to Vancouver (Pearson, Beagle, Roussel......yes even Eriksson) Marky has been good Myers has shown a nasty streak we have been missing for some time. Edler and Tan-man has been real solid as usual. Hell a month ago lots on here didn't think we'd ever see OJ play an NHL game. Boys haven't backed down to anything yet. Don't give in despite going behind ( this will be very valuable experience for them ). The list of positives goes on and on Dare I suggest, that the outcome, while they obviously wants to win, is almost secondary... win or lose they have already learn lots about themselves and each other, and so has the management. Benning wanted them to experience play off thus also giving him and Green a chance to properly evaluate them. See if they could handle it or what might need altered. Still... you gotta be in it to win it... so yes it is definitely a successful season. Sit back and enjoy the ride. If they get knocked out, swept or whatever remember this is just the start of the next 8 -10+ years.... our real windows probably doesn't start for another few years, so this is just gravy.... -
True... but in fairness I think a lot of fans, even the pro Benning brigade, has been very positively surprised by the play of some of the vets. they have really brought it with them so far. Will be very interesting to see how they fare against stronger opposition. Nevertheless the season target has been achieved and everything from now on is gravy. Benning and Green finding out a lot about the mentallity and ability of their players in playoff hockey.
