Do You Have Confidence In The Canucks Front Office..?
spook007 replied to Honky Cat's topic in Canucks Talk
Interesting take... I think its fair to say that this season more than any prior to, the focus will start to hone in on Green and Baumer...as well as JB himself. With the squad JB have assembled its fair to suggest a play off position should be within reach or at very least in the hunt for to the very last of the season. If we fold during the season, a change may be forth coming, but they will be given the chance for now. -
Do You Have Confidence In The Canucks Front Office..?

This.... Simples... -
Ok there's a few things here Timraafan I'm surprised to see LE being forced to move his family out of Vancouver. Please enlighten me, why he was forced to do so? And I don'r remember Benning saying anything negative about Dahlen, but I may be wrong on that. On that note I have zero respect for fans sending hate messages to anyone, and do think if this is the case, this must be a very small minority. I would have a hard time believing anyone on this board would do such a thing. However are Benning just supposed to put an arm around LE and Dahlen and let them plug along, to save them for harassment? We are back to where we started. Had LE kept his mouth shut none of this would have been an issue. I guess, I'm old school. But I'm brought up with the old idea that for any action there is a reaction. And finally with regards to creating an uncontrollable wildfire... You speak up for Loui just saying the truth, but when Benning does so he starts an uncontrollable wild fire??? You can't have it both ways...

Do You Have Confidence In The Canucks Front Office..?

Just happy that we go into a new season with a lot more confidence in seeing some good hard-nosed hockey being played. If it turns out that they actually can compete as well, I'll be one satisfied customer... Its been a few years, since I have been this excited for a new season to start. -
[Report] Eriksson “NOT” likely to be moved on
spook007 replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Stawns there’s nothing wrong about giving an honest answer.... if you are delivering. Thats the sticky part. If you are not delivering, I think most Coaches will find it hard to accept you going public with anything be it big or small. Personaly I could care less what he’s been saying, if he was scoring 30+ goals a season and playing with fire in his belly. I personally think you do yourself no favours going public with anything to do with your superiors in any walk of life. If Henrik Sedin in 2011 had said he and AV didn’t see eye to eye and that AV didn’t have the trust in him, nobody would have battered an eyelid or possibly said AV should be on his bike. However, in these times of cap, where every dollars count, he hasn’t been performing up to his cap hit. I restate, he did not give himself 6 million, so this is on Benning, but for what he brings, we can find cheaper options within the squad and from players, who is still developing. Thus and therefore I think all parties would be better of if they found a future without LE in Vancouver. Whether that’ll be possible remains to be seen, but realistically if the choice is between LE and Goldie for a 3rd or 4th line defensive and PK spot, Green would still choose LE no matter, what he said, as he wants to win. But this does not seem to be the only choices any longer, as there are several quality players fighting for spots... and all at a far lower cap hit. This is what I think will happen. Benning will actively try to off load Eriksson as that would solve all cap issues for him in one go. If he can’t, which is very likely, Green and LE will sit down, have a cup of coffee and discuss, how they utilise LE better. Green will tell him, that he is a valued member of the squad, but unless he starts to put the puck in the net at a more regularly pace, he will have to continue playing him, as he have been. Reality of hockey is you earn your ice time. And then they will just have to make the best out of the situation. -
[Report] Eriksson “NOT” likely to be moved on

His contract should be terminated based on his performance... However, if you are not performing well, complaining about the coach's usage of you, won't help your cause. If he was/is interested in staying in Vancouver, he could and maybe should just have said thing weren't going to plan, but hopefully they would improve. If he think he's been playing well enough, then he is as delusional at Timraafan (Eriksson mother). -

Possibly... but nothing good ever come out from criticising your coach usage of you... In particular if you are not performing to standards that could be expected. There has been nothing to suggest he has been a locker room cancer. He is a player, who hasn't lived up to his cap hit... and at times not looked like he had much interest in trying to do so neither... Best for all parties if he departs... -

I don't think you've followed me on this Sam. I am 100% in the good bye LE camp... But there is a difference between not being able to perform to your contract and being a locker room cancer, si? -

No way he'll be a locker room cancer...believe it has him who took care of EP over Christmas and had him over for Christmas dinner etc. -
Well that's just the joy of it...endless options. Think Baer will be on the second line though, simply because Pearson will be a better 3rd liner (more bullish) Regardless of what our line up will be, what joy it is to see us being able to field a really competitive line up with room for injuries... on paper at least...

Sorry Timraafan.... but you just don't get it. Nobody is blaming the bad contract on Loui. If I had the chance to earn 6mill dollars playing hockey I'd grab it with both hands, despite the fact I can hardly skate. What I'm saying is, there is far cheaper options within the club than LE at his production level. If Miller drops to 30 point a season as well, or if Myers turns out to be a donkey then I will say the exact same thing about them. I hindsight people all agree that Benning should not have signed Eriksson to that contract. And this is one of the few big mistakes in Benning tenure. In the world of cap its a numbers game, and Eriksson doesn't add up to his cap hit. Regarding who should make the team decisions, I don't think anyone thinks Benning or Green are the slightest bit interested in what the fan base thinks anyway. This is just a discussion forum, where we all put forward our thoughts...

Sorry bud, but you must suffer from lack of reading comprehension... I don't think I've ever complained about Benning signing an expensive UFA.... Instead I actually stated earlier, that I supported Benning in going after Eriksson and thought he'd do fine here.... It didn't work out. End off... If you can not comprehend that teams don't pay 6million for a forward to make 30 point only no matter how good he is defensively, let's just let it rest. You seem to think this is a crusade against Eriksson? Nothing could be further from the truth... most of us just want to make our team as competitive as possible with the money available. We may disagree on how we spend the money the wisest, lots of threads shows that, but very few would argue, Eriksson haven't provided the value for money expected.
-
Benning is new in the GM position. I don't think you should confuse Insecurity with politeness... Time will tell... You on the other hand doesn't seem to understand the value of players... If you think 6 million dollars is ok for a 30 point forward then good for you. You earn your ice time.... Eriksson could play better and his ice time would sky rocket. If you don't score goals you'll struggle to get 20+ min each game... The only person who can change that is the player himself. I like Eriksson, but if I don't live up to expectations at my work, I got two choices, put my head down and do better, or accept it just doesn't work and take it from there. In cap times you need your best paid players to produce. If they don't they should be shipped out. There is nothing more to it...
-
No true.... Supported Eriksson through his struggles most of the time during his tenure i Vancouver, but lost a lot of respect for Eriksson, when he opened up his hurt heart in the press. I don't care if he was misquoted, if there is a variation to, what he meant or whatever.... Eriksson should have kept his head down, mouth shut and tried to work through it instead. He is still a decent hockey player, but has not lived up to his 6 mill price tag. If Miller plays as disinterested as Eriksson, he will soon become boo boys target number 1. Its goes with territory of binge a high profile, well paid acquisition....
-
Actually a great question... Think they will have to try the various scenarios, but what it shows, are the possibilities we now have in the top 6 as well as the depth. After Pearsons showing last season, where he was one of the shining lights on a line with Bo, it's quite the thought that he'll be demoted to the third line, but with everyone healthy that might just be the case. Ferland - Pettersson - Boeser Baertschi - Bo - Miller Pearson - Sutter - Jake/Motte Roussel/Leivo - Beagle - McEwan/Gaudette/Mott/Jake Baring a sudden resurgence from Eriksson just don't see him slotting in anywhere. It's been a long time since Canucks had that sort of depth in their line up.

The only thing that really matters is that the team continues the upwards trend, season on season from now on. I think we have a playoffs challenging team, but still need to find the chemistry... We are definitely a better team. -

Trying to sell the NHL package to their 621 fans.... -
How about we play out this season at see if maybe just maybe Green is a better coach than some seem to give him credit for. We've been rebuilding the last 3 years. Threw mud on the wall and saw what stuck. Now he has a decent squad to start with. Lets just see what happens before we talking about changing the coach.

[Report] Eriksson “NOT” likely to be moved on
spook007 replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Are you honestly suggesting that Eriksson plays to his 6 million dollars price tag? I don't have a problem with him getting paid 6mill dollars. I wish, I did... But unless you see something nobody else sees, surely you'll admit Vancouver didn't sign him to a 6mill dollars contract, to be a great defensive forward. They expected more goal/assists from him as did the fans. Now the train is rolling, they need all players to come through and play to their price tag, if this is going to materialise into something good. And that includes Eriksson, if he is still here. I'm not gonna start arguing with you about interpretations of what he said to the press or not, but regardless if he had been better at putting the puck in the net, Benning might not have needed to go out and get another forward, and could possibly have gone for a defensive upgrade instead, and we wouldn't be having this debate. I was one of those that were happy to see Eriksson in Vancouver, as I hoped him being on a line with the Sedin, was what the doctor ordered for the Sedins. It didn't work out this way...I happens... But then at least accept it hasn't worked out as expected, instead of whining about the coach. Quote " "It is difficult when I do not get the same trust that I received from all the other coaches I had during my career," Eriksson told hockeysverige.se in May. "Of course, it is tough on that front." Dare I suggest that trust is earned, and so far I don't think, he has . And again I say maybe if he had come forward and said he wished it had gone better in VCR and that he hoped for it to improve, as he wanted to be part of the team, maybe just maybe then Green would have interest in trying to make it work. -

How about he came out and stated that it had not been going to plan in Vancouver. And that it hopefully would improve in the future. At least fans could relate to that...
