  1. This is one of the reasons I’m so supportive of Benning. This is all class. They may be screaming at Bettman just now or at least voicing their displeasure about the situation, but on the facade Benning takes it on the chin, despite it being none of his doing. This is another spanner in the wheel, but no whining, crying or a $&!# load of excuses... as usual all class. Way to go Benning.
  2. Well at least Bob McKenzie gets it...
  3. Are you one of those? Regardless of how often you post, or when you joined CDC, if yo have an opinion feel free to express it...
  4. They did.... Were smarter than the rest, but got bullied in to accepting a change of the CBA... Could care less about leafs or Oilers...
  5. The league seems to, for some reason, have a torn in the side, when it comes to Canucks.... Would be very surprised if they would change it in Canucks favour. Find it atrocious that most stinking contracts get shelved for all kinds of illnesses but Bobby Lu comes out and states his body simply can't take it anymore, yet he is a normal retiree... So basically its down to whether the player feels, he wants to support the club or not...
  6. True.... but waiving these two would have given Benning even more room to manoeuvre that with the reduced cap space. Not panicking, but every dollar count if you start to make a push... which I think is on Bennings mind.
  7. The difference is the timing.... Anaheim are just starting their rebuild, thus not needing to ability to spend to the cap, where as the trade for Miller suggests Benning wants to start the push now. Together with the fact our ELC, will start to need pay rises... Do agree that after his treatment, why should he save Canucks bacon...
  8. Happy retirement Bobby Lu... And damned this crap contract... And it does matter... Disgusted... Benning starting to make a splash, and then his budget get slashed by 2mill... for the next 3 years..
  9. Agree... Time for every to stand up and be counted... He may have reached his floor, and if so for him. Like Hutton, like all off the Canucks, but reality is we need a stronger defence. If the players aren't doing it, we must upgrade...
  10. Nice work.... Gaudette is still below both Sutter and Beagle, but hopefully won't be for long. Needs more seasoning and expect him to play wing or in the AHL unless we have injuries. And definitely expect two more D men to come in. Maybe Hutton will be re-signed at a cheaper contract, in which case it'll be one, but definitely two more than the list shows.
  11. With the totally unrealistic view points of some of our most 'loyal' posters here, could you imagine the reaction to a block buster deal? Unless its McD of Biega and a 6th, he will be torn to pieces.... Even so they'd argue that 6th should have been kept at we could have drafted the next Shea Weber with that... Regarding the question, don't think he ever had the pieces to make that sort of a deal. Kessler said what he wanted, and even if the Sedins had accepted to be shifted, they were tied together and $14 mill is hard to swing... As for the rest, don't see us having the pieces.... Unless it was something around Bo and Edler.... a few years back.
  12. You are without doubt right in your assumption that in a trade, you'd get more for either that you would for JV. But I'm not so sure it is this straight forward. I wanted Ehlers, and was disappointed when we passed on him, but I also understood the reason for choosing JV. We had just been eating physically by a less skilled Bruins team at the SC, and to Management as well as fan base it was 'obviously' clear, we needed a tough strong competitor in our top 6 to take the battle to the opponent. So it was not just scoring we were looking for... I think, or more I hope that JV continues his progression, as he showed glimpses last season, what he could potentially end up as... He is still only 22 and that's incredible as he's been around forever... I don't think he will ever out score either, but I still believe he could turn into a powerful support in top 6. If not there would definitely be room for him on the 3rd or 4th line... If so its not what we hoped for, but he is an NHL player.... I don't think the final chapter has yet been written, in the 'who is the better player' book....
  13. There will be posters crying all over the world tonight......
  14. Funny how few have mentioned Pearson. 12 pts in 19 games (9 of those goals) - over 0.6 per game. Thats above 50pts pace over the season. I think he is one of the best trades Canucks has done in ages... And totally agree. Would take Pearson any day over McCann.
  15. Maybe so....but the rest of us can't. Dixon is right. Its totally unwarranted...
  16. Post of the Summer if not the year... Incredible is had to said but thank you @Dixon Ward
  17. Well said. Thats just it. The naysayers seems split in two camps. The ones who swears by drafting only, and the ones who wants/likes trades, but expects them all to be massive wins. Nothing wrong with fair trades... on top of that, who knows what the conversation was like between the two GMs, or who else was in on Miller... JB could had walked away empty handed and have kept his conditional 1st, but that wouldn’t have improved the team. JB did something to get the club moving forward faster. Time will tell if it works out, but at least JB is now moving to force the issue. Time to start our playoffs push.
  18. I know, and that’ll do for me seems to be a bit of feistiness about that name... exactly what we need. If the other Tanner (Pearson) can continue scoring at the pace he set last year, that could be one of JBs best trades.
  19. Another Tanner... the plot thickens...
  20. The fact he can be moved around anywhere in line up is not a negative, when it comes to Miller... Did you see the highlights of him? f he plays anyway like this, he'll be a fans favourite very soon in Vancouver... But of course there is always a risk when you acquire another player, that he won't live up to the billing... But he definitely looks to bring an element we have been sorely short off...
  21. No seeing it quite as black and white as you Fanuck... Brock was clearly playing injured first half of season and EP ran out of steam by the end. Hughes played only 5 games... and Pearson was required during the season playing only 19 games... Feel confident Virtanen will play at least as well as last year, and expect Baertschi to play more than 26 games... and Gaudette to take a step forward. Amongst the rest I hope that Sutter will finally live up to the 'iron man' streak he had shown before joining us. Expecting more goal from him as well as out 4th line will not be unrealistic. And then at least 20 goals from Miller... But the big issue is the back end and the PP. Fully expect Benning to go in to FA to acquire a D-man if not two. Of last seasons roster Gudbransson 57g 2 goals, Biega 41g 2 goals, Pouliot 62 g 3 goals, Tanev 55g 2 goals, MDZ 23g 1 goal, Schenn 18g goals, Sautner 17g 0 goals etc.... Totally 10 goals Guddy, MDZ and Pouliot gone, so I hope, more than expect, more goal from the back end once we have acquired another D-man or two. If that is the case, they can hardly do worse, I think we are in the hunt for a playoffs wild card at least. And I also think its fair to assume our PP will improve with the addition of Hughes, so I think there is some room for optimism. I will not rely on OJ just yet, although the coming season could be the season he enters the league.... and next year we may be Woo'd... Time will tell, but I'm cautiously more optimistic, and I do think we have a chance... I will however say, that I feel more optimistic about our chances in 2 years time. Trym, OJ and Woo all possibles.... We'll see
  22. Interesting pick... Glad that we took Vasily and traded for Miller. These picks should hopefully ensure there's room for players like Hoglander, who despite being 5'9 comes in at a healthy 189lbs.... and very fit. Could be a great fit on the top two lines...
