  1. Cheers @Trebreh This should be pinned at the top of this thread or in the Miller thread. Totally agree its a MUST READ... gives a good assessment of TJ Miller..
  2. Nice, I'll have a bit of that thank you... Exactly what Petey and Brock needs on their line.... or any line really...
  3. Bingo Ibatch... hammer meets nail. Love you comparing it to Bo... Ask all the whiners, if they would ship out BH for that deal... Should we not be able to reach the ultimate goal, or seriously contending within three years, the players on our team will be young enough to give huge returns, should we need to go in another direction. This is the difference fro when Benning entered the building. He had nothing of value to ship out in order to speed up the rebuild. Our main assets then were all under NTC's and getting older... In three years time Miller will be 28/29 with 1 year left on a 5,5 contract. If he play up to his present standard, that should easily bring back a first if a bit of salary is retained at TDL, so it is the right trade to be had if Benning were to trade for anything.
  4. Hypothetically....hypothetically... This is what this is all about... maybes, ifs and buts... JB is damned if does and damned if he don't... Hypothetically we could miss out on the best player to ever walk on the earth, only for him to have a car crash and lose both legs, god forbid... Nobody knows jack $&!# about what happens next, and neither does Benning. He just does, what he can to improve the team. Do I think he is on the clock from management... yes of course he is on the clock from management, just like any other manger in the league. Do I think management believes in, what Benning is doing, Yes I think they do, cause otherwise he'd be gone after no playoffs in 4 years... How many other teams gives their manager more time to properly rebuild their team.... Will they give him another 4-8 year hoping for him to eventually be lucking in the draft? No I don't think so... Unless we are challenging seriously for a playoff position in the next two years, I think, he will be history. And Benning knows that himself... He has been drafting wisely, and now is the time to assemble a team that can start the push. If Juolevi can get up to speed this season and maybe Woo next (Trym would still be interesting), this team is challenging for a play offs berth... Which is a hell more likely than us drafting in the top 3 in two years time.
  5. This is exactly the key Alf.... Amazing its so hard to understand for some. You don't get good players in their prime on great contract, for free...simples. Benning could have waited, but the likelihood of Miller being gone or Tampa having dealt another player was probably too big for Benning to risk it. He wanted Miller. A top 6 player. We all know, we have been screaming out for a top 6 player in our line up to supplement the famous 3. Now FA comes and he has time to shop around as he has filled one of the three positions needed. Next up a RHD if possible....
  6. This.... I bet a player like Bo is delighted with this move... Its shows him that we will be pushing, while e's turning into his prime...
  7. Don't get it... What the hell is all the fuss about... 'we got fleeced...' How did we get fleeced? Benning wanted Miller, that was the price end off... The likelihood of Benning getting him for less was like Zero and its not as if Miller is a cap dump... If Bolts wanted a cap dump the would get rid of an old garbage contract and probably pay their way out it, but this is not the case here... Our team is full of young players in top end, and yet we rather let them swim on their own than give them proper players to play with. I bet Horvat will be so happy to see this move. It shows him the team wants to win now... Keep adding picks only may repeat MAY turn us into a great team, but flipping when??? IN another 4-8 years...maybe... This is the time to start push towards the top.... Happy to see Benning doing something to improve the team. And who's to say he is finish improving our team? Go Benning.
  8. Bingo... Thanks Ibatch... and since its not a FA there is still money in the bank to inprove the team should he choose to do so... We all know we were needing 1 or 2 top 6 players as well as 1-2 D men. Can he get another D-man, I think we could start to make noises. Play offs this season or next is now the target. Bring it on...
  9. Flip this thread is funny... Canucks fans... Can't wait for the draft, come on Benning make a trade bra bla bla...as soon as a trade is made its the worst garbage ever... Incredible he can't get McD out of Edmonton for Biega and a 6th, as they are close to cap hell...everyone else is doing so good... Comedy central... Sweet jesus a lot of panic reaction...
  10. Yeah can see it now... our prospects suck... just look at Utica...
  11. Spot on 73.... feel exactly the same excitement.
  12. True... Canucks now have two years to prepare themselves, so hopefully we don’t end up with the same avoidable issues, we had with Trym. Not blaming anyone for anything, just hope things are tackle differently this time around. Too much at stake to f about... if this works out we could be loaded up front in 3 years time
  13. Thanks for saying this... hope they’ve learnt their lesson with Trym...
  14. Sorry, and you know that? Has JB stated that anywhere, cause I may have missed that part... Just generally interested in hearing if this is fact or fiction...
  15. Except BB and VP are both RW's... But yes she grit in to our line up that can play as well...
  16. Totally agree with most of it... Not so much about trading down, as thought he would take either Boldy or Krebs... But now over joyed with the pick. Benning to a swing again, and so far it has worked... Regarding Calder next year...maybe OJ will end up being eligible next year? Though he said all the right things, even through the translator. Think he will be a superstar.... He's been compared to Nash, E. Kane, Marchand and a few others in that mould... that sounds fantastic...
  17. Quinn Hughes looks forward to have someone on the team that can fight his corner...
  18. Just sitting watching his after drafts interview... Man he's got hands the size of a 40 year old lumber jack... He was not my first pick, but now I'm over joyed. He brings something we are severely missing in our top 6. Size, skill and an plays with an edge... Boy oh boy its gonna be fun to see him in 2 years time. Gutsy pick by JB... again. JB rocks....
  19. Most pleasing part for me is watching a player quoted to be top 5 skilled player in the draft, standing looking like a freaking tank as well. Comparables was mentioned to be Evander Kane... If we have just drafted Kane without the crap, JB has just pulled another rabbit out the hat... We're are mega short on big forwards in our top six, but in two year that won't be as evident. Maybe just maybe JV will start to play to his size once other are as well.
  20. Small and Injured... Big question marks... That said Some team could end up with the lottery ticket
