They may know, it'll be another year before major surgery can be carried out once Myers contract is up.... At least I hope it is.... -

On another note, anyone know why Miller wasn't playing? -

Demko is back... time to park the tank in the garage... its better for the mental health. Though Pods played a really engaged and good game. Beau alone is almost worth the deal with Bo... ok, Beau with the 1st is worth the deal for Bo, so it shall be interesting to see if Raty becomes a player... Think the team plays more structured, and tries to make the safer plays... Myers not flying through the offensive zone has helped him defensively, although him trying pinch it, got him smoked a few times... Finally thought we played as well at times, as we have all season defensively, and that is as close, as we get to the Abby D playing.... -

Very likely, which is why, it was always likely to take 2 years before the proper rebuild of the D could commence. No cutting corners this time... -
[Trade] Sharks trade Timo Meier, Scott Harrington, Timur Ibragimov, Santeri Hatakka, Zach Emond, 2024 5th-RD to Devils for Fabian Zetterlund, Andreas Johnsson, Nikita Okhotiuk, Shakir Mukhamadullin, 2023 1st-RD, conditional 2024 1st-RD, 2024 7th-RD

Cheers Coolboarder. i waan't advocating Petey getting an injury, but more the fact he is the difference from a top 3 pick. I was never a tanker before, exactly because of the reason you've given, however at the moment with our AHL defense, he is the difference. -

I didn't call for an injury to Petey, just stating its between him and top 3... without him, they wouldn't win many games. But he is too good for us to sink to the bottom. We are going to meet a lot of teams that really suck between now and the seasons end, and there is no chance that we, with the form Petey is in are going to lose most of those... -

All the team need to end bottom 3 is for Petey to get a small injury -
Well, part of it has to be the D... Other than that it seems that when they get to Vancouver, they don't know how to hockey any more... Poor construction of the team, or maybe they need more time. Fact is it doesn't work, and its a big issue... Joshua has been good for 4th line offence, while Lazar, Studnica and Dries not so much so... So if they can play punishing physically, don't fight and can't PK.... I actually thinkMika has been quite good, and maybe he would thrive under Tocchet systems, once he's back from injury.
-
Cheers Bob. yes i was not having a go at you, cause we all know the teams have in general been unbalanced under Benning, with some passengers for what ever reason over the years... expensive ones (Vrabata, Eriksson, OEL and partially Myers), I totally agree bottom six and bottom 3 in particular should not be taking much of the cap, but I think our bottom six should be able to take the majority of the PK duties. I'm not a fan of Petey PK'ing, which is a shame, as he is quite good at it, but I always fear he'll sustain an injury from a slapper. Agree 100% that Mika should PK and probably even Miller, but preferrably the bottom six could manage... If players like Lazar or similar could do that duties at the minor salaries they are on, it would be perfect. if Tocchet can turn our bottom six into better PK units, I think we'll be going places, but if take a few bobs to make it better, I think its worth it.

Fair enough and I agree, but there is little doubt, who will go 1st OA this year. Any one finish bottom of the pile and not getting Bedard, will be very disappointed. At least they will have a bigger chance of winning him as is, but I do get your point... I'm a cynic and do believe the draft is rigged in order to keep the league more on par, and until the day Canucks actually moves ahead in the draft instead of dropping down as is the norm, I will continue to think so.... Now the NHL can change my mind this year though.... -
This would be the dream scenario...

Great post @Nuxfanabroad... Its exactly how I feel about Benning as well... He made a lot of blunders etc etc, but his legacy will be drafting Petey, QH and Demko. Like him or loathe him some fans seem unable to accept that fact.
-
Well you complained about the league worst PK, where it was almost a certain goal. Lazar is part of that problem. it wasn't like that with Beagle. Overpaid? Maybe, but he played his position well.

Agree..... but..... Then if the bottom team is 20pts behind you could turn it around, but yes it almost forces the bottom teams to down tools... somehow. -

This is probably true, unless, of course, we strike it rich in the lottery.... only concern is when we drafted OJ... -

Spot on amigo. The are 500 people ( or close to ) employed in the front office. I am sure the front office has their plans laid out, and any late surge won't change that. The trade of Horvat showed, they stick to the plan. Exactly how I feel about it all... life is a lot better when the glass is half full
