[Poll] How much of CDC is actually on team tank?
spook007 replied to Roberts's topic in Canucks Talk
At this point of the season, is that even a question? Its like being told, if you go to the end of the road you have a 1in 5 chance to get $10M free.... and on the way down towards the end, you take a detour into a ;pub for a pint, cause you know a pint is a pint, and we probably won't get the money anyway... Wake up JR/PA... if ever a stealth tank was needed, now is the time... Even if the top prize isn't reached (hopefully it is), the consolation prize looks to be as good as anyone, if not better than whoever, we'll ship out for the stealth... Now is the time too be bold... -

That's exactly my point. Don't care if we have to retain on several players (obviously not my money), but We are not going to sign big buck players right now. Need to get players that doesn't fit out of the club, before we start adding... otherwise we just continue to walk around in circles in cap hell... It won't be until Myers are off loaded and of the books (with retention its another year down the line, Pearson is off, Brock is gone and Garland too before we can start to look at getting team that can be built too contend... Whether Bo, Miller or whoever is going to be part of this remains to be seen, but I really hope we open up spaces on the wings for Kim, Hogs and Podz in the future be it one or two years from now... We are going nowhere just now... standing pat won't do... Changes are needed and not just one or two media defenders... -

We will likely have to retain or add/take back cap dump... This where the GM has to be smart... not easy, but probably possible... Biggest problem is the other team can smell blood... they know the problems Nucks are facing, and will try to rip us off... just like we would do if it suited our needs. -
RIP Warrior....

Thought he looked laboured in the beginning of the game, but yes he tried a power move that didn't come off, but that was as if he want to do it as well... Hope for Brocks sake, that he can find the melody again... We all know that he can do it... -

5-4 Nucks Petey -
Boeser was/is always injured and slow... Kuz is nothing like that... And yes it was one of the arguments for "team resign JT Miller", but signinging a 29year old to 7 years extension is very different to signing a 27 year old to 5-6 year extension or maybe even7 years all dependent on Cap hit.... My point is, players rarely start deteriorating at 28-29 years of age. That's supposed to be their prime, so unless we believe this was an out of the ordinary year, I'd say signing him would be great. However as said before, if there is doubt about him signing, He should without doubt be traded at TDL... He is one of the few players that should/could bring a few assets back. Anyone going to the play offs would be able to fit him under their cap, and who wouldn't want an extra goal scorer going into the play offs...

yep.... Groundhog day.... -
Agree... not saying we shouldn't extend him, but have to make sure we don't stand without a chair, when the music stops. So yes agree no NTC unless he signs for a low cap hit on an extended contract. If he signs for 5M x 6 I wouldn't be too concerned about, what happens next. But for shorter contracts no NTC... He has value and will continue to have value the next 3-4 year, after which he'll be leaning towards the other side. I don't see him being a one year wonder. He'll score goals for fun in the future, and hopefully on Peteys wing, but if not he will be help us rebuild instantly.
-
On concern of trading Kuz, is to see him score 200goals over the next 5-6 years for his next team... The Canucks way... But if he isn't signed to, whatever contract at TDL we have to cash in... a bridge for 2 years at 6M would be fine, but he'd probably want a NTC, and then he may walk for free in 2 years... Have to make sure Canucks holds the cards, as we'll be back to square one, if our assets just walks into the sunset with no return, while they are in their prime.

I'd love to see him stay... Things have to be altered on the team, as we are not going anywhere at present. He could be part of a great 1st line with Petey, and they are around same time line, so yes please... They do have chemistry. But, regardless of whatever they think, it will be unacceptable to lose either Kuz or Bo for free in the summer, just because they maybe want to stay... Together with Petey and QH those are the trade chips of real value... I do believe he is happy here, and think he was supposed to be friends with Mika (not sure), and with Podz and Kim potentially coming up as well, they have their own little enclave on the team... Finally again, a lot depends on whether they can send Boeser and?or Garland out as well as maybe Myers and Pearson... If they can't the money isn't available to sign either of the 2 players.... Unfortunately that may lower the value, as other teams can see the pickle Canucks are in now... the joy of no cap space...

Well if we are starting to worry about whether 26 year old goal scorers can sustain their production for another 3-4, we won't ever be able to sign anyone. Any player comes with a risk, but a 26 year old player, who is on pace for 30 goals in his first season on North American ice, I would think was a good bet to continue producing. Absolutely right that he saw us as an opportunity to show cases himself, and good for him. He is in our hand just now, so we get to decide whether to trade of keep. Doesn't get much better than that. Either one is a win... except if the keep him to offseason and he walks... Then PA should be fired on the spot. Same with regards to Bo.
