  1. Trading him won't give more $ to Bo, but keeping him would mean less... Something has to give...
  2. Unfortunately? They have to let go of all 3 to make numbers work, and have a bit of cap space... If they don't they'll be forced to let Kuz go.
  3. Its not that the Mika deal isn't great, but it didn't fit the narrative of getting away from the cap hell... especially while signing Miller to an 8year extention.
  4. Yep... a third of the team... Schenn is the poster boy for hard work... wish we had a whole team like him.
  5. Maybe Alvyn is a she demon, cause 700 year old Rutherford fits the sleeping man, bill...
  6. Think we all feel like that... disheartning when they just go through emotions... It always annoyed me, in any sport, when the athletes don't give a 100% regardless of circumstances. I know that sometimes it just don't work, but it has happened far too often. It is the reason I've finally come the conclusion a rebuild is needed. Not sure if its coaching or what, but it doesn't seem to change. Seeing Miller almost crawl back to the bench at times is infuriating, but he is far from alone... Throw a few hit, play with a bit of agression and get the fans on your side... surely that's the minimum requirement...
  7. Or even better, we could have saved the money by trading Miller and not sign Mika (again I like Mika, but the timing suck), and just rolled with what we had for one season only. Likely wouldn't have had Kuz neither ( who knows), but we would have had a good go at drafting in the top 4-5, and with that a decent chance in the Bedard sweepstakes... And in the next offseason take stock, knowing Giraffe will be off the books 12 month after. I am sure there are other Millers and Mikas out there at those prizes. As for Kuz, that would be a shame, but he is likely gone at TDL or off season anyway. At the moment it feels we are going sidewards tather than up or downwards, which isn't good for anyone..
  8. That's what it sounds like... And yes you vote with your cash... there will always be someone keeping their tickets, as they always have... If folks would continue to come during a rebuild, it would be easier to convince the owners to get it going....
  9. I wouldn't be so annoyed about money spent on any kind of player or to the cap limit, if we were a play off team, but we are clearly not... EP is improving and so QH, so there is hope, but the 1000+ pages written about trading anyone of real value (high earner) or him/her/the dog and anyone with a heart beat can firmly be laid to rest now... As James said, the future is to stick with, what we got now and supplement the core with cheaper players, so we have money to pay them... Hopefully they find dance partners for Boeser and Garland, as OEL is going nowhere this century, etc etc etc... Or maybe its a smoke screen to up the value of Horvat.......
  10. I actually thought that was a funny one, but don't know, how much you can rely on it. The Miller deal together with the Mika deal, doesn't scream reduce the over all cap of the team.... (I like the Mika deal).
  11. Honest question @Westcoasting, if Canucks made a whole sale of players and started a rebuild around Petey and Hughes only, with lots of draft picks, and prospects coming on to the team instead, would you still be attending games? more/less? Reason for question, is the ongoing debate about rebuilding. I know a few good posters, has said they would prefer tear down instead of putting a few plasters on an already dead horse, and I have come to the same conclusion, but in the end it's about the fans attending the games, I think. You vote with your cash, like in any business.
  12. This is spot on... who cares, what he says? Its not like he'll be telling us the lottery numbers, or who he is going to sell... He's job is to sort out the mess we're in. Do that, and all the conversations will be a doodle afterwards.
  13. That alone, should make him much more attractive for a longer contract. In 6 years he'll still only be 32-33...
  14. Lack of sample size for Kuz, and Millers (normal) hitting all over the ice, and closing down would probably make them even. (Age is for Kuz though) But then again, Miller is probably slightly over paid at 8M this year. Think 7M would be about right for longer contract. Ehlers wouldn't sign for less than 8M at the age of 26... Question is, if they can squeeze him in at that money and B, does he want to play here... If he want to leave negotiations until Summer, he should be traded. He has been a fantastic find, and his agent adviced him correctly. Come to Vancouver, get playing time in the top 6, hopefully with Petey, and you'll be golden in 12 months... Agree shop Boeser and Garland to make room for Kuz, but tbh atm I'd shop Boeser regardless, as he looks almost lost at times....
  15. True... But we only have this sample size to go by... He has been impressive this season, and taken to the smaller rings like a fish to water. Think he'll have no problems finding takers. Will be over the moon, if they can keep him for 5M (very doubtful), but if they can't get a deal done before TDL, he has to go as well. Can't miss out on returns for players like him, in the hope he'll sign in the summer.... same as Bo...
  16. i'm still astonished Benning drafted Virtanen instead of Ehlers.... unreal. And he's playing there for 6M/year......less than Brock.... Maybe that would be a good comparison for Kuz's next contract?
  17. Ehlers is paid 6M/yearly.... wouldn't he be a good comparison for Kuz?
  18. You rarely win a game, when you concede 7 goals... Didn't see much of Lockwood, which was disappointing... Love his tenacity... Give him more time, as he at least tries hard. Not much to be writing home about except the Canucks did twice come back from 2 goals down... hard to watch....
  19. Well its not as if our 2nd and 3rd string goalie saved a lot...
  20. Definitely... They simply can not afford to take the chance, he'll sign in the summer, and risk letting him leave for nothing. The plan was laid out last summer, when they signed Miller to his deal... I am however sure, that a few in the management team are sitting with sweaty palms now, as Bo has been tearing it up, while Miller not so much so... But regardless, atm unless a dance partner is found for Miller, I also see Bo being the one leaving. They can find the money to keep him, but then we are going nowhere really. Don't see us gaining much by trading Boeser, and may even have to retain. If the management is doubling down on the plan they laid out last summer, I'm sure Bo is history.. only positive thing is, for each goal he scores, the more interesting he becomes to potential suitors, especially with money retained.... Should bring a good haul, but its a mess...
