  1. 17/49 (34.7%) = 63.7 without 15/55 (27.3%) = 72.7 without And the most important: Points (With Drouin involved) PP: 12 SH: 5 ES: 15 = 32/104 (30.8%) = 69.2 So Drouin only helped Ehlers get 32 of his 104 points.
  2. How when his ceiling is far from exceptional and he is not rare.
  3. How do you figure, Ehlers got 70% of his points without Drouin.
  4. I definitely think Ritchie would be a couple steps behind the play he needs to improve his skating before he can play in the NHL.
  5. Sure if Ritchie was rare, his skill comes down to his shot and his shot only he does nothing else special with the puck. His speed is fine, but nothing special in the CHL in the NHL it is slow. Yes he hits so do many other draft picks and yes he has size, but for many it the 230 pounds that gets them creaming their pants. He will not be playing at 230, maybe 220, more than likely 215 in the NHL. Point is if he was rare he would be a number one overall, as is he is a risk at number 6. I really like the kid think he is a smart choice at number 8 - 10, but a huge risk at number 6. If the Canucks do take the risk I would be fine with that, the kid could be a project that plays off.
  6. I like the effort but pretty flawed. Its like saying all the small players in the west would double their numbers in the east and all the players from the east would have a lot worse numbers in the west. To challenge your logic Giroux only has to face the best centers in the NHL on a nightly bases: Crosby, Malkin, both Staals, Johansen, Tavares, and Richards. So would he really have it any harder in the west and the Pacific, especially with your size concern when Malkin, Staals, Johansen, Crobsby matches Getzlaf, Kopitar, Carter, Thornton, Kesler.
  7. Yes, but "how can you not agree with me attitude" is what makes discussion fun! Although lots of false facts being spread around. A lot of people are also influenced by friends and family as to what the Canucks need. You have the big bad fan base that loves the big mean hockey player; that love calling the Sedins "sisters"( stupidest most clueless statement). They will always go with size even though the smaller player is the better overall player. Then you have the fans base that loves speed and elite skills all they care about is points. The fan base that can see a mix is needed; they know taking the best player available is the best option, unless your organization is badly missing a certain element in their prospect pool. Drafting or scouting players has many levels that many people over look. Just to list a few people over look; 1) Stats evaluation can be broken down into many sub stats: A) age of player when points were put up level of players playing with and against C) are the points spread out and even against all level of teams D) transition between another league and a lot more... When evaluating players skating the most over looked aspect is: 1) Can they pivot equally on both legs ( turn left and right) 2) Are they able to go from forward skating to backward skating without trouble. 3) Lateral mobility or only good skating straight a head. 4) Balance and a lot more... I do not think most people understand the scouts have to watch a game totally different than a fan does. A whole game is spent watching one player and only that player not the game. They watch how they are on the bench, without the puck, the whole focus is on the player. This is why scouting reports are so important. So it is important to look at placing of players on scouting reports, but then again it is just opinions of strangers really. We are hoping these scouts are not lazy and not only going off the scouts that are trying to do their jobs. I do believe that an eye for talent is rare. What I'm getting at is no one really knows how a player is going to turn out not even the people that get paid to do so.
  8. They have nothing in common what is your point.
  9. Ehlers only plays on the power play with Drouin.
  10. Why ride your high horse? you think a list of players with speed that did make the NHL as proof of your stupid point... Or are you just that dense that you think your own stink does not stink. I could give you a list of a 100 players similar to Ritchie that did nothing at the NHL level too; mute point my foolish friend. You take a risk on any player you take! Skill should be the main factor in the decision. Ehlers skill is above Ritchie skill on many levels. Ritchie was not the fan favorite it was this forums favorite big difference, and the reason he was chosen was short -sighted. The best thing that could happen is one of the top five falls to us, so this board does not go into frenzy when a certain player out side the top 5 is not drafted. ( if a top 5 does not fall) I still be good with a big mean third liner like Ritchie, though I rather have a potential game changer like Ehlers. and my stink does not stink. Have to trust who ever Trevor brings in to choose the right player. It will be interesting to come back to this topic in four to six years.
  11. Raffi Torres eyes are freaky. Lets dress a line up of all Torres, the other teams would be fixed on the eyes and not the game.
  12. Joakim Nordstrom Jared Spurgeon Joey Hishon Paul Carey Justin Fontaine Ray Whitney Andrew Shaw Saku Koivu Andrew Cogliano Patrick Kane Marcus Kruger Nathan MacKinnon Kris Versteeg Mathieu Perreault Alex Goligoski Jason Pominville Mikael Granlund T.J. Oshie Steve Ott and much more.... All in the western playoffs all near the size of Ehlers
  13. And to make things clear I not not think he needs to gain a lot. His last weight was listed at 165 standing at under six foot, there are now stats reading his height at six foot. If he puts on 10 to 15 to get to 175 for his first training camp he will be fine. Easy to do. At just over six feet at the age of 18 to the age of 19 I put on 22 pounds going from 170 to 190+. Then again I grew from being five eight and 135 pounds to just over six foot and 170. Any how I have a very small frame; 6 1/4 inch wrist and 7 inch ankles. By the time I was 22 I was 205. At 40 I now keep my weight at 185.
  14. Even better then, the older you get the easier it is put on muscle. The prime being between 25 and 35, but at 18 he can easily put on 20 pounds by the time he is 20 and an other 10 to 15 by the time he is 25. Playing in the NHL at 21 and making an impact. Virtanen would be good pick up, but he does not have the same skill level. Virtanen is fast, but again he does not have elite speed.
  15. TOMaple please do not write about what you have no clue about, I have trained many kids between the ages of 15 and 18 who have put on a lot overall muscle mass ( 20- 60 pounds) and their speed and skill improved on the ice. Frame size was not a factor with proper training. All my athletes that gained a lot of weight from the age of 15 to 18 also gained in all aspects of their athletic abilities; why because of proper planing and natural maturity. I'm a good trainer, but their are a lot of trainers out there miles above me. Nothing you have written has any truth.
  16. When will people understand there is speed without the puck( Weise) and then there is speed with the puck(Ehlers). What sets Ehlers apart from other players is his ability to make plays at high speeds. He does everything at elite speed and that is hard to stop at any level of hockey. Does this mean he is going to make the NHL during his first NHL tryout, more than likely no. He does need to put on weight and being near six foot he could easily put on 20 pounds. So who ever drafts Ehlers is going to have an excellent player in two to three years. I would love to see Van draft the kid. I see Ehler in his prime as 185 to 195 pound elite top six player who can change the tempo of a game with one rush up the ice. Kid has everything working for him except body weight; if he was 180 pounds already then he would be in the top 3 in scouting reports. People are also forgetting he is one of the youngest players in the draft. Could you image this kid growing to six foot two and weighing 200 pounds with his skill and the Canucks passed on him because he was 160 pounds at draft time. Lets hope the scouts have done their job and looked at his parents and asked the right question about how most males grew in the family. I just know in my family both me and my bro were about five foot eight at the age of 15 ( weight about 145) and by age 18 we were both over six foot ( weighing about 190). I found out both my parents siblings had similar grows patterns.
  17. MacKinnon must of had inflated numbers too...
  18. Why are people surprised by this move and why are people saying it is a mistake and the core is the problem. The two are separate of each other, meaning just because Linden let Torts go does not mean he is blaming the team terrible play entirely on Torts. People are acting like this is the only move Linden is going to make; we have the entire summer for Linden to make some minor core chances to better the team. I had it as a 50/50 chance Torts would be gone. When Linden said" I have to talk to the coach and players to see where everyone thinks the team went wrong" or something to that train of thought. Vancouver biggest problem, the last few years, has been depth of scoring at the top six position. The wing position has been a big problem. They are good at center with Henrick and Kesler, but the wing position has been filled with player unable to provide true top six scoring. Burrows is good with the Sedins, but is not a top line player. Yes, he is capable of the job and good at it, but he is just as good playing on the third line providing scoring. A big mistake of the management was not picking up a true number one winger to play with the Sedin (like Hossa). The same could said of the second line; Kesler needs a true top six player to play with, preferable a play-maker, This year could prove to be the year Kesler gets that player if Kassian improves on what looked like a year in which he was becoming a play making power-forward. Of course Kesler could be traded! Then we hope the players/player coming back is a center or the center position will be a weakness, unless one the young rookies shines. Too much to write about with the Canucks; defense needs to be changed up as well. Is Lack ready for the number one, a hard one to judge with the teams performance. I do not know! All I know is Torts and Gillis being let go is not the only move Linden is going to do. See where Linden has this team at puck drop of 2014-2015 before going crazy on him.
  19. Calling the Sedins sisters is like calling Chara small.... has to be the most blind stupid comment that Cherry was ever come up with and you have sheep like the nuck1031 repeating the statement.
  20. He will be playing in the NHL under 230.
  21. Hopkins is small framed, not even close. 10 pounds is not a lot of weight and no it will not affect their skating when their frame can handle that weight. It is the same as saying a 5'9 165 pound teenage player is going to get slow being 185.
  22. 6'2 1/2 and 230 with baby fat, just like Buf he will be asked to lose weight not gain it. He will be playing at 215 to 220 in the NHL.
  23. I can guarantee that Horvat is 210 right now without having to weight train. He is still a teenager by the time he hits his 20's he will easly put on 10 pounds of muscle. Jensen is the same at 6'3 and in his 20's his is already 205 pounds another 10 pounds for his height is very doable. Vladimir Tarasenko and Horvat have similar frames and Tarasenko is 6'0 219.
