  1. Ah I see. Av's fans are as bad as us when it comes to overvaluing their players. Sakic might be proven himself to be the worst at that. I'm not against possibility of trading Juolevi, it just would have to be the right package that would make sense to us in our rebuild.

  3. That's been really proposed????
  4. Shanny was hired April 2014 so going onto year 4. JB was hired a month after Shanny, May 2014. I agree that for the longest time leafs we stuck in a bad zone, but when burke was there he didn't want to rebuild, he did everything he could to speed up the rebuild. Like trade 2 first round picks for Kessel, Like attempt to offer Kadri and a pick for Luongo, He was focused on getting the leafs back into playoffs more than he was focused on building a new core. If wasn't until shanny took over. This was a quote from sportsnet about Shanny when he got hired. "He can boldly try to aggressively build this hockey team from the foundation up in the way that others, from Floyd Smith to Cliff Fletcher to Ken Dryden to Pat Quinn to John Ferguson Jr. to Brian Burke, refused to do. Or weren’t allowed to do. Or chose not to do. The guess from here, folks, is that Shanahan knows he’s at a crossroads, understands there’s no easy way out and that there’s little or no real choice in what must be done. Tear this thing right down and start over." And then shanahan came out and said he was going to do exactly that. Yep that's true but id also like to see where the leafs would be had they drafted Seguin and Hamilton instead of trading for Kessel. Yep, JB has brought in more in the last 3 years than TO did from 2003-2014. From 2014 on since shanny took over and started loading up on draft picks, it appears to be turned around building up their "other tier", As I pointed out leafs are stocked full of "other tier" prospects that are as good if not better than what we have. In all fairness they've also had 6 more picks than us outside the first round in that same time span. It would be jumping the gun in my opinion. We aren't at the place where we can trade our top D prospect for a 26 (turning 27) year old player, As much as I like Duchene, he doesn't fit the age range of canucks rebuild. By the time Pettersson and our latest crop of prospects is ready and making an impact, Duchene will already be in his 30s.
  5. First of all Canucks also had Tanev and Markstrom on our roster under 25 for some reason people keep forgetting them.. Second of all. The only way the you can justify it is if you assume they are pieces leafs had that they don't have to fill in the future. If you don't think they are pieces leafs will build around in the future, then really all they are is more aless a semi talented stop gap. Like we have in the twins and Edler. It's not like canucks roster was completely empty outside of Horvat, Hutton, Tanev and Markstrom. We had talent. Reilly, Gardiner and Kadri would be the only ones i'd say a future pieces. JVR is a player leafs have been dangling in order to trade for a shut down D for the last two years.
  6. This is what I've been saying. When Shanahan took over it wasn't like his team was loaded of talent from previous regimes loading up with draft talent. Shanahan is in the same year of rebuilding as Jim Benning is. This is where we disagree. Since Shanahan has taken over they haven't stop finding talent. Bracco, Woll, Brooks, Grundstrom, Dermott, Nielsen, Dzierkals, Timashov, Desrocher, and Korostelev are all the same quality of players you just listed, if not better. Adam Brook put up 120 points in his draft +1 year, 130 points in his draft +2 year. Bracco put up 83 points in 57 OHL games last year. Dermott is a stud, that almost made the leafs roster this year. Nielson put up 39 points in his first full AHL season, 74 games (as a D) Woll is on the same path as Demko being a high hyped up goalie in boston college. (his sa% took a hit last game) Dzierkals over ppg in OHL in both his d+1&2 years Timashov put up 85 points in 57 game in his d+1 year in the Q. Korostelev has been a ppg player every year in the OHL since being drafted. And that's completely leaving out the 2018 draft with players like, Liljegren stud D and Rasanen a 6'7" monster who's ppg D so far in the OHL this year. I like our other tier, bit it's hard not to over hype it, simply because it's something we've never had before (or in a long long time). But plenty of other teams that have decent drafting has just as an exciting other tier. Just look around the NHL and see what prospects teams are bring up. TO, TB, NJ, CBJ, STL, ARZ, NSH, even a team like the WSH has a load of other tier players that they've been cooking.
  7. Pre draft part of the debate on Sergachev was whether or not he would reach his potential. We all knew that if he did reach his peak he could become and elite D in the NHL but the problem was he was still considered high risk. His draft year was his first year in NA and he just got on the prospect radar, he didn't even start playing hockey till he was 9. One thing people forget when looking back on drafts is the risk/reward debate held on players during their draft and that's part of the beauty of drafting players at 18. We all knew that if Nylander and or Ehlers reached their potential they would be better players than Jake, but we weren't comfortable taking that risk at that high of a position and that's fair. When looking at Tkachuk putting up 48 points as a rookie and particularly Sergachev lighting it up in Tampa, its less about them making the NHL so quickly and more about them surpassing the risks people had about them. I'm more comfortable today to say that Tkachuk's skating wont be an issue at the NHL. I'm more comfortable today saying that Sergachev will be a top D than I was 2 years ago. The high risks that people had on these players, that made them drop down the draft rankings are being proven to not be a factor.
  8. I admit, i was a person that was ok with Brock (and Jake) being sent down at the start of the year and called for it. Brock has completely earned his way with his play and proved me wrong. My biggest concern was about him not getting enough ice time but he's forced green into playing him big minutes for a rookie. He's looking good and hope this kid keeps it up, we got a real star on our hands
  9. True Yeah, lets hope, at least we can play in the AHL next year.
  10. Matthews has done pretty well... I think it's a different situation since we have an insider with the team Juolevi is player with to watch over his development, anyways i wish him the best.
  11. It's what is best for Juolevi, he really didn't have much more to learn at the OHL level, he needs to get used to playing against men, who are faster and stronger, as that appears to be where he had most troubles this preseason. The fact that we have him with Salo, who's also got the canucks intentions in mind is just an added bonus. Hope he has a strong year in Finland
  12. Yeah Clayton Keller has a tremendous preseason, and put up 8 points in 4 games. According to Riley Nash there wasn't one game where he let off.
  13. Powerforwards developing slower has been debunked over and over,it's just not the case. some players take longer, but so do some skilled players (naslund, baertschi, Sedins), and so do some goalies, and some D. Powerforwards are no different than any other player. When someone adds context to blind praise it doesn't mean they were writing the player off, you just got butt hurt over any criticism surrounding the player and just automatically assumed it was people calling him washing up. People like you get triggers over the simplest things. Like stating Jake developing hasn't been ideal (even JB agreed) but you feel the need spend hours making up claims trying to defend. Not even Jake would agree with you. And you're mantra is pointless, as it's not a relevant comparable to for players in different team circumstance. This theory has also been debunked Do you find it completely ironic on how one hand you state prospect need patience but then draw a conclusion based on a prospect being rushed. Mind boggling... Again, maybe if you didn't get so triggered over any type of criticism you'd realize that I never said anything about Jake potential, i never claimed he was going to be a bust. I did say that I think Hansen and Torres would be a good comparable which id still be ok with today
  14. When did i ever state that? I never once said Jake has was washed up and had zero potential. If you're going to talk about someone making claims about them, at least do them the favor by tagging them. You might want to find a quote where I said he was washed up and not longer had any potential. You also might want to learn what "cherry picked" stats is. Seemed to remember me using actual player compatibles while you used the only garbage you could find even if it didn't have any justification in the conclusion you were drawing from it. .
  15. My money is on Sergachev to win the Calder, they have him pegged to play on the first unit with Hedman and so far he's looked solid. He will get every opportunity to be a impact player this year
  16. Vilardi is injured and had to miss camp this year. https://www.nhl.com/kings/news/first-round-pick-gabriel-vilardi-to-miss-rookie-camp-and-training-camp/c-290895206
  17. It's been debunked over 100 times. quite sad that you are stuck with your head in the sand. https://www.forbes.com/sites/alexepstein/2015/01/06/97-of-climate-scientists-agree-is-100-wrong/2/#cc746a134141
  18. Actually if you listened he said a small minority that think human activity play the biggest impact in global warming. Most believe that man has play some role but not the majority. You're crowed has run with this as 97% of scientist believe...crap.
  19. Yeah send him down and keep him in an offensive role in Utica being used as a key player. Call him up for injuries and after we trade off some depth come February. It would set him up for a strong last 1/4 of the season and build him some NHL confidence for next year.
  20. Jake has NHL numbers but it shouldn't be held against a player like tuch who chose the NCAA route. The only reason Jake has NHL numbers is because the team was forced to and benning even admitted it was a mistake. Last year all three players played in the same league against each other. They can easily be compared as direct comparables. And out of the three Jake was the worst. Yes he has. But it's only going to get tougher as teams cut players. His competition internally and externally will only get harder.
  21. Really. You think Jake is ahead of tuch and kapanen. How so? Those two players dominated the ahl where Jake struggled. Those two players have been progressing where Jake stalled.
  22. I never said jakes career was over. I'm just pointing out the obvisous that he's struggled in his development. People stating he's in the top half of his draft class interns of development based simply on games played and goals is inaccurate and flawed. There are so many other variables at play when considering a players development and to narrow it down to those two chart columns brings no value to the discussion.
  23. Does it? When has points/game ever been discussed. Oh right it hasn't, trying to move the goal post are you? Still according to your numbers in goal and games Yak is further along? Haha are you really going to debate that Yak is more developed than Teravainen? What story have you come to the conclusion on? I'm actually interested in hearing this. Reading comprehesion.. "Now using the most recent stats along with context around them" Are you ok? If anything you just proved my point even more. Using career games and goals is a terrible indicator to compare players in and how far they are in development. Swing and a miss.
  24. Ok time to hit this home. Is Jake further along in his development than Nick Schmaltz? What about Brandon Montour? Alex Tuch or Kasperi Kapanen? Total games played and goals says so, reality says otherwise.
